Ports of Call Classic is a very nice economy based strategy game in which you take over the management of your own shipping company. Buying the right ships, calculating the most profitable freight routes and also small ship mini-games keep the player busy for a very long time. For me, the game was a holiday filler on my first computer in the 1990s. The game runs smoothly on modern systems and is a clear recommendation.
kann man auch offline spielen
My friend Benjamin always makes me play this game when I visit his house for a computer session. Ports of Call is definitely a very good classic game, and one that people will often remember playing long time ago. It made Benjamin and me real proud shipping company bosses. We bought old ships for relatively cheap money and repaired the old ships. Then we sent them around the world to help our shipping companies make a profit. The Steam version of Ports of Call is well done and exacly the same game that ran long ago on the C64, Amiga and the first PC´s. Well, well! And yes, you can also save the game in the Steam version. It only runs in the old amiga manner: Press the right mouse button in the game, then a menu appears and you can click on the line Save. This game deserves a looong thumbs up for over 30 years...
Haastetta vanhan Commodore-Amiga classikon muodossa.
Classic trading and shipping simulation. I do not think the next generation would be interested in this game, but it sure strucks a chord with us Amiga500 owners who played this game in the 90s. The game working (Win11) and being exactly I remember it, is enough recommendation for old-timers with an itch for nostalgia.
Yes, I played it on the Amiga 500 back in the day. And yes, I still find it addictive in its RNG and simplicity. I guess it could be considered some kind of archetypical business simulation today. But, alongside Oil imperium and also Pirates!, you have these moments of action where you have to get your hands dirty and do the practical work yourself. It's a good balance. However, in Ports of call you can choose, when you start a new game, to do economy simulation only to get rid of the action moments (I don't remember this from Amiga times, but hey-ho).
wonderful game for the era , still stands the test of is it still a good value today. YES, In my opinion as past sailor who was in many of the ports mentioned an stood manuvering watch at the helm or on lookout while orking into a berth the MED MOORING AT Marssallis france is so f**ing typical of the ♥♥♥♥♥ we had to doo in the '70's and '80's during the Cold War era and then it got going again after the Sims got hit by the suicide boat in '84? just had to say give it a try as
