After 1131 hours of gameplay I've decided to leave a review. If you can get this game on sale you should. The current price as of April 26th of 2026 is $60 for the Civ BE bundle with the 2 DLCs. I really like the play style of the RT DLC. If I'm looking for something different, there is plenty of Workshop DLC that adds a little flavor or even complete overhauls of the game.

This game is very confusing for a number of reasons: 1) names. you have to remember the factions leaders names, their actual faction name, and the nick-names of them to figure out who wants/has done what. 2) the tech tree is perhaps the worst of any civ game. its difficult to figure out what tech permits what 3) all unit upgrades (and many units) are locked away under the affinity, and its annoying to even try to figure out when you can get upgrades 4) the unit veteran system is the most bland garbage ever, with no actual benefit.
Is it the best of Civ entries? Surely not, but it is still a lot of fun and guarantees you'll play "just...one...last..turn...", After spending a combined 4K+ hours on Civ 5 and 6, it was and is the Sci-Fi setting that makes me come here repeatedly.
There just something not right with this game, unlike other civ games this just does not pull you in. You do not get that one more turn feeling...
To many errors and problems with no help at all from Steam. They literally take your money sell it to you and then cut you out. Try to talk to anyone from Steam and see for yourself.
If you take it at face value and don't think about it too hard, it's a lot of fun. Worth it on sale.
Not recommend anymore due to the 2K new user agreement
i hate the change of the eula after i purchased a game so you can fill it with spyware but in all actuality this is the worst civ game ive played honestly dont know what the thought process was behind this game its just so bland and boring despite the wonders of space being so vast and infinite they managed to make me wonder how they managed to make it vastly empty and infinitely lame
