I do feel that I am getting the sale price I paid out of this game so far. I find it a bit odd that I can't retain my actors the same way I do all my other staff. Even an option to rehire them would be great. Having my actors level up only to loose them didn't feel very great. The first season I failed my goals. It seems like I'm going to probably need several single season shows to be able to upgrade and unlock new things. Hopefully in time that will lead to multi season shows.
Not gonna lie, this game crashed on me twice. But with like maybe 5 hours of playtime. It was kind of fun. It does need some work, more things to do. Like if we like an actor/actress who was in another show we did, we should be able to offer them a part in our new show. This game needs a new way to see what needs upgrading on set, a button that sends whoever is tired to the staff room. And episodic comments by critics. What can we do better in the episodes. Overall it's a fun little game, but it needs a lot of work.
Continuem assim
Obviously, this title is in early access and has proven very unstable - infact, I haven't yet been able to finish filming a single season of a show. So why the recommendation? While only the bare bones are there right now, it's clear the game has gone in a different and much better direction than similar titles focussed on Game or TV studios, with the formative signs of greater depth and nuance that better replicate the nature of creative industries. There is a huge amount of potential here and for the price, I'd say roll the dice and help the dev squash the bugs and flesh it out.
It took me awhile to understand the mechanics because the tutorial is a bit lacking. However, once I figured things out, I found this game to be pretty enjoyable. It's still an early access game and many features need to be added, but at a regular price (currently) of $9, I think it's worth it. If the game were fully developed, I could easily see it retailing for $20 or even $25. This is much more of a management-style game than lots of visual art or any animated scenes (I'm still waiting for that day when a major studio finally decides to make something like the classic "The Movies" again), but on that front it's interesting enough to be enjoyable. If you like games like Game Dev Tycoon, Mad Games Tycoon, or Start Up Company, then I think you'll like this game, as the dynamics are similar.
Showrunner is a very promising game in development that is worth the price. I really enjoyed the creative elements and time management so far, and I think they will continue to deepen as the game develops. A few suggestions: Leveling up characters and staff seems to take an awful long time, and leveling up the studio to the point where you can conduct higher-quality searches for better staff takes WAY too long. I'd cranked out six seasons of a successful show before I'd even gotten to do a tier three staff search. This should be accelerated because it seems like I would be able to hire a better set of actors for a show with tens of millions of viewers than I did when I had a show with thousands of viewers. The compatibility system for actors, characters, and staff also takes too long to level up. Actors who'd been working together for years still had D-level compatibility. Making the sequence in which one places the scene cards matter more, and maybe adjusting the time cost for each one down by one "clock" would enhance the episode planning section. Despite those critiques, this game is already fun and headed in the right direction! I'll be back when more content comes out.
This is a fun little game that will keep you occupied for a while. I am only on my second show but am starting to get to grips with some of the scene mechanics and my I have now been renewed for 4 seasons. I am really looking forward to future updates and hope there will be a good amount of progression, maybe having several shows running concurrently.
It needs some work in explanation area - you have to discover a lot on your own - but it's fun enough to discover what's in the game
its fun, but as of right now, there's not a lot to it. There's honestly not a lot of management involved in the game, basically you can just easily go through it with very little difficulty. There feels to be a disconnect between a lot of the pieces of making a show, hows its recieved, and the characters in the show. There's a lot of fun elements that inspire some imagination, but as it stands, most of the game feels very surface level. For the price, its fun and can give you a fair amount of play time, and I hope to see it gain depth as its updated more.
