I don't want to hurt this game because it has potencial so I'm giving it a negative review but if I could I'd give it a mixed review. This game is ''fun'' for the first hour but then it becomes very repetitive and essentially you're doing the same thing over and over again, creating episodes and hiring new staff... The concept is amazing, the execution however needs some work, and I know, it's still in early access and it's faaaar from being finished. That is also why I cannot recommend this game at this time, maybe in the future I'll buy it again and it will be completely different, because I do believe that something like this can be great. For now though, I'll watch the development from the distance.
The state of this game is very rough but partially playable. I see the effort that went into it but it seems to be abandoned end of 2025. I can not find it any more but I read a message from the developer saying that he wants to focus on something else. So don't expect to get this game in a 1.0 state. I'd love to give a positive review but I have to warn everybody to not put money into it. DON'T BUY IT!
This game has the worst kind of upgrade system known to man. The kind of upgrade system of "Oh you can't buy this new $500 TV that will give you +5% xp. You're level 15." No one has ever told me I can't buy something because of my level in real life.
I like this game! If you're a fan of Game Dev Tycoon, then this is right up your alley -- hiring staff, creating good combinations (in line with your genre), skilling up your team for better results, and trying to get higher points on every episode. I had an Office-like comedy going for 4 seasons, but when it came time for renewal, apparently I missed one of the goals and the show had to end. I would have liked to keep it going, especially when I was getting 17 million+ viewers per episode. Maybe an option for another company to pick it up? Either way, for Early Access, I'd say its quite polished. There's of course some opportunity in all areas of the game to further improve, but at its current price and content, its an easy pickup!
Just really starting to scratch the surface, but overall I think this is a good idea of a game. Its unpolished at roughly 50% through if the version history is anything to go by. Concept is good. And in this day and age of shows being cancelled within the first 3 to 5 seasons, it gives an rough idea of what goes into show on streaming services. PROS: *Idea of how shows are being "marketed" these days. *Tycoon setup is simplistic and easy to play *Easy to read and navigate UI That being said, CONS so far: *Game is ONLY in a window view, and you want to Alt-Enter to make it full screen. *Tutorial needs improvement, its mostly playing by the seat of your pants. If you don't know how to play tycoon games, then you need to learn a few like Roller coaster Tycoon or Megaquarium. Once you know the basics of a tycoon game, this game seems to become easier. *Still kinda buggy. You get about 4 or 5 episodes into a series, and then the game likes to crash or not let you finalize the contract. *Staff energy drains way too fast and restores way too slow.
It's very rare that I make it less than an hour in a game, but even for 7 dollars this game just wasn't what I expected nor was it really enjoyable. It feels like an idle production game without the idle part. It does a really poor job of explaining its core mechanics, and really just was not enjoyable.
its fun, but as of right now, there's not a lot to it. There's honestly not a lot of management involved in the game, basically you can just easily go through it with very little difficulty. There feels to be a disconnect between a lot of the pieces of making a show, hows its recieved, and the characters in the show. There's a lot of fun elements that inspire some imagination, but as it stands, most of the game feels very surface level. For the price, its fun and can give you a fair amount of play time, and I hope to see it gain depth as its updated more.
It needs some work in explanation area - you have to discover a lot on your own - but it's fun enough to discover what's in the game
