Reviews
A very fun and very tightly designed retro platformer with a difficulty that's always challenging but never unfair. Comes with four equally sized campaigns that run in tandem with each other, some parallels, others prequels. This basically means that this is four games in one, making it very much worth the price, although I will warn that some of these campaigns are MUCH better than others.
Creative platformer with NES artstyle Challenging, but not frustrating. Same difficulty as NES-era MegaMan. Maybe easier, because you have infinite attempts during stages + checkpoint system OST is 8-bit masterpiece

still one of the best platformers
Shovel of hope was a lot of fun - good controls, interesting little story, nice bosses and nostalgic platforming. Plague of Shadows is a bit of a dumpster fire - this expansion really has some of the worst platforming and mechanics I've ever experienced. Every early level is pure torture, and would be normal 'Nintendo hard', except they did it with the same levels as Shovel Knight but worse controls, which doesn't work well. Spectre of Torment is then a real joy, with beautiful platforming which is an absolute pleasure to play. Just navigating around the levels feels awesome, with the parkour mechanics inviting replays of levels just to enjoy how well he moves. It has an enjoyable and thoughtful story, too. I gave up on the King Knight campaign - the protagonist was entertaining, but mechanically just a worse Spectre Knight, and the levels weren't interesting enough to keep me playing. The minigame is terrible too. Overall, 2 out of 4 campaigns ain't bad, and i'd recommend it for anyone who loves retro platformers (though skip Plague of Shadows unless you're a completionist/masochist/bad game design researcher).
