Shiver 4: The Lily's Requiem (IHOG) This is a standalone story Options include separate sliders for SFX, Music and Ambients, Large Icons, Full-screen and Disable Special Effects. Choice of Casual, Expert or Custom difficulty, which you can change at any time. Story: You've finally returned to the town where you started your medical career, ready to take on the role of head doctor at the local hospital. A young woman who collapsed in the street has been searching for you, but why? How is she connected to your past, and what is this strange illness that is affecting her? Early on in the game, we have dialogue options when interacting with others, but this is optional (can be turned off in the Custom difficulty). Collectibles: Be on the lookout for two types of collectibles: Small gray-black pearls - which can be found anywhere, including zoom-ins and HO scenes - and aquarium additions. The pearls are used to "purchase" new furniture for your home (four styles to choose from), and the aquarium collection is for your pet fish, of course! :D Hidden Objects: There are multiple kinds of HO types, including:

Standard to-find lists
Highly-interactive lists
Scrambled word lists
Find-by-silhouette lists
Hidden Object Puzzles (ultimate goal listed; you have to figure out the steps to achieve it)
Find x-number of items
I was delighted to see the scrambled word lists, as I've never seen this kind of HO before! It made finding the items much more interesting~ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1737007217 Other Gameplay: There's a nice balance of HO's, puzzles and adventure gameplay. Inventory items with a green border around them need to be interacted with in some way, and we sometimes use items in unusual - but logical - ways. I am the queen of makeshift solutions, so this really appealed to me! HINTS are refillable, and will give you a directional arrow during the adventure portion without discharging your hint. Our Diary documents our journey, but doesn't add anything to the story. Any mini-game hints that you find will be in there, but you'll never have to actually look, since the page will pop up on the screen the second you enter the puzzle that it corresponds to. These minis are nicely-varied, and mostly not the same-old, same-old that we usually see in HOG's. There is a Tasks tab in the diary in case you can't remember what you're supposed to be working on. The MAP has an insta-transport option, and is interactive unless you're playing in Expert mode. Did I mention that this is the BEST map ever? I absolutely ADORE the 3D effect they used. I've seen it attempted in games before, but usually they're hard to read. Not so with Lily's Requiem! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1737998590 Sights and Sounds: I really enjoyed the graphics for this, and I discovered something when I had to step away from the game for a couple of minutes... When I came back, all of the extra *stuff* - Diary, task bar, hint button, strategy guide, link to your home and map - was gone. *POOF* Turns out that you can have wallpaper-quality screens on ANY location by simply not touching the mouse for 30 seconds! Oh my gosh, as someone who loves looking at the artwork (and taking screens), this was really exciting for me! :p To be honest I really didn't notice the SFX and music all that much, though I can tell you that the cutscenes are fully-voiced. CE Content:

Bonus Chapter
Integrated Strategy Guide (has section that shows collectible locations)
16 Wallpapers
16 Concept Art
Battleship Mini-game
Match-3 (bring item to the bottom of the screen) Mini-game
Pinball Mini-game
17 re-playable HO Scenes
17 re-watchable Videos
48 in-game Achievements (access via the cabinet in your home, NOT on the Extra Content page)
Bonus Chapter: You're not going to be left with a cliffhanger if you only have the Standard Edition, but this extra hour or so of story is the true ending of the game. The gameplay is just as good as during the main story, and unlike most bonus chapters I've played, has more than one type of HO scene. Verdict: Every Shiver game is excellent in its own way, but they are all very different! No cookie cutter games in this series! The variety of hidden object types was refreshing, the graphics beautiful, the story held everything together nicely, and the overall experience very entertaining! Recommended!
Highly recommended HOPA game! In this game, you're a doctor returning to practise in a small town with a mysterious past. Things have gotten stranger since you were last here, and you're plunged into the mystery immediately upon your arrival. Note that the game begins with a chase scene from the POV of the scared young woman trying to locate the doctor; this is actually the prologue and tutorial. Pros: - excellent length with lots to do - interesting story to draw you in (one or two confusing transitions, but minor) - lovely art (atmospheric too - I like the glistening rain-damp streets etc) - wide variety of puzzles (mostly moderate level, a couple a little harder) - wide variety of HO scenes (with one exception, well-crafted; one scene didn't accept a large bicycle wheel for "wheel") - two sets of collectables, both used to decorate your new home (for once, this was an enjoyable feature, not just rather confusing): (1) black/gray pearls for buying new furniture and upgraded flooring etc; (2) fish tank items (um... for your fish... as you might guess ;) - decent music and voice acting - fully interactive map that manages the quasi-3D concept *well* (most are awful) - very good bonus chapter (note that there are more collectables here) I could go on, but there's a lot to recommend this game, and very few cons. I suggest getting it on sale only because the Steam prices for the Big Fish games are very high, and there will be a sale eventually. Either way, it will be money well spent. ~Imp
If, like me you run windows 10. This game will not run. It only runs on widows versions up to 8. Why the does Steam sell this game to the general public and take our money for something that does not play?? In the small print it does tell you, but doesn't warn you, before you press the pay button.
Recommend Pros .Clean, clear artwork/graphics/scenes .Three difficulty modes including custom .Mini-map with fast travel .Lockable toolbar .Complex adventure play with some imaginative use of objects .Excellent variety of easy to challenging hidden object scenes .Excellent variety of easy to challenging mini-puzzles .Good length ,Bonus chapter Cons .Jumbled story .Little atmosphere .No indication when objects in correct position for possible use Final thoughts (6/10): It is a good game with a lot of great aspects but nonsensical story choices and lack of 'shivery' atmosphere reduced my enjoyment significantly.
Not nearly as great as the first two Shiver games. The gothic, horroristic, undersaturated color atmosphere is gone. There is a colorful, weirdly designed game with lots of bugs, some good ideas, but mostly very dull and easy puzzles. Morever, for me on Win10, many letters in the texts are just missing in the game, but even in the main menu. For example: "More in o"; " xit", making the dialogues, puzzles, tasks sometimes very difficult to read... Therefore it's a huge disappointment for me. I would recommend buying and playing Shiver: Vanishing Hitchhiker and Shiver: Poltergeist instead. They have much better visual style, better puzzles, and they are much more immersive.
very slow to access any of the game
A fun HOP game. Lots of puzzles and, more importantly, different puzzles. It is a nice change to find a HOP game where the developers took the time to come up with something new. Good story. I liked it.
broken game, wasted my time. I will miss my fish. long live Lemura
I love this game in spite of a bug in one of the Mini game puzzles. I Skipped this puzzle so I could finish the game. The one with the color bubbles on the gate, This game is SO MUCH FUN, It has a lot of different kinds HOG game-scenes, & Some of the Mini games can be challenging, But that adds to the fun for me. The story is pretty good but no surprises there really. Kind of predictable if you know what i mean. The Bonus game was good too, But also had a glitch, & When I encountered it I quit the game & then Reentered to find I could play on successfully. The Home Room With the Aquarium was cute & Creative .... I didn't find all the Aquarium Objects. But I did find lots of the black pearls to dress up my "Home" with. I even found them in the HOG replay games in the "Extras" so if you don't find them all in the game to get what you want, Try the extras to bling out your "Home" with. :)
At nearly 4 hours the length is meh but if you pick it up on discount it makes sense. It's an interesting title, the story is good and the artwork is good.
