Gorgeous pixel art. Intense, blazing fast battles. An epic adventure. This is the must-play retro indie JRPG built for the modern era.

some kinda pooor rpg maker like.
This game gets what classic jrpgs were about. No combat gimmicks, short dialogues, silly sometimes serious, dungeons with more than just walkin' n' fightin'. What it improves over classic games: You actually gotta think during combat Encounters visible on field Pretty much every ability has its use Where it drops the ball: In the very end of the game you've had enough block pushing puzzles and the normal encounters you kinds figured them out already so they don't offer much. But that's like 15 minutes away from the end of the game so it's no big deal. My favorite thing about the game is a small one but small things matter. When you revisit places you've been to before and you discover new side quests and items.
Great game, great devs. Just wish it didn't have nudity in that one place.
I was looking for a little palate cleanser RPG to play between some other lengthier games I've been playing. And seeing people call this title a "short and sweet RPG" made me want to give it a try. I did not enjoy this game at all. I played it all the way through, and was bored the whole time. The story wasn't interesting at all, I didn't care about the characters or anything going on the entire time. The fighting system was so repetitive and annoying, the only saving grace in this game was there are no random encounters. I was also really annoyed I had to buy the DLC in order for this game to work on the Steam Deck (yeah, the base game doesn't load on SD, but when you have the DLC it works.) The DLC really should have just been content they added into the game, it wasn't anything that added value to the game, just some lame filler. I was looking forward to playing the next RPG this developer has made "Quartet," but after playing this game, I'll be passing.
Its ok....and that is really all that needs to be said. I've been RPGing since around 1988, and played many of these type of games. SoA doesn't do anything all that special, but nothing really bad too. its a decent RPG to play when you have run out of SNES ones to play. I've played better, but I have played worse. So I will recommend it if it is on sale and you are desperate for an RPG to play.
This was a good game. good pacing between battles, mild strategy, and characters that were similar to ones you know but less stereotyped in character profiles. i am at the last boss and i still havent beaten it yet so it isnt completely stupid easy, you will have to level up to get good. each character feels unique with their move set. this was very much like a final fantasy title, but not as long.
Short and sweet.
Came to this after playing Quartet. Definitely see the growth from one game to the next! Keep it up, droppij absolute bangers! GAME GOOD, you try!
