Extremely corny yet extremely fun. There's a wide variety of weapons to choose from (though none of them beat the katana) and the combat is super satisfying, albeit a bit brainless sometimes. The humour is a mixed bag, it's rather cringe but It's undeniably entertaining, especially the quips between the protagonist and his sidekick. The story is a little hard to grasp at first but by the end you can put all the pieces together. It has its moments, but isn't anything crazy. Some of the levels drag on a little more than they should, and the bosses feel rather underwhelming compared to the regular encounters. It's not a profound experience by any means, but as a horde shooter that pays homage to the classics it does its job well and was fun all throughout. Worth it on a good sale.
It's good and has aged like fine wine. Some people complain about the story, but honestly that's not much different from the other games in the franchise. When you compare the gameplay to modern shooters, you have to admit that the harder difficulties require a lot of movement, weapon switching and skill usage from the player, which makes for a surprisingly engaging experience. My only gripe is that there are a few sections where ammo is scarce, forcing you to rely on the katana against tougher enemies. That's only a minor issue, though.
pretty good game hard difficulty is basically normal difficulty, ♥♥♥♥ had me lo wanging it all over the place and putting on a bad japanese impression for a chinese mercenary working for japanese people while a redditor follows you around with a gay sounding voice and doesnt even convince you to start betraying your boss either since apparently the mere whiff of power is all it takes
this game is so good the story is not to powerfull but gameplay , huji and main character lu wang make this game so good
Divertido, pero se aprovecha de la nostalgia. Tiene el punto canalla, muy de su época. Y algunas tonterías, como los sprites originales de la chica en el baño. Prescindible, para aquel jugador que no ha jugado al original, o no ha vivido los 90'.
I'm really enjoying my time with this game in 2026. Takes me right back. Old school level design. The game invites you to unlock its secrets. Game feels very snappy and satisfying to play. And even though it's about 13 years old now, still looks great, thanks to the beautiful art style and lighting.
