Its very basic for a city bulding game these days, its not to bad if you really want the simplest of city builders, but it does feel like there is a lot missing or something? There are much better builders out there (Settlement Survival for example) this might be ok if they just added a bit more to it or somehow speed the Ai up or added more 'I' to teh AI in it, the villagers where a bit smarter or something, it might not seem like such a chore to play. wished I liked it... :(
Abandonware? It's a decently implemented no-frills settlement builder, with just the basics, and that's about it. Nothing groundbreaking. Last tiny patches were released Sept 2025. The previous minor content beta was in March of 2025 and released to production a bit more than a month later, in April 2025. Since then, a possibly interesting pending content update has been seemingly stuck in perpetual beta since February 2026, but without a peep about it since then. Is this ever going to roll out into a production release? Hello? Is anyone there? Crickets.
I’ve put a good chunk of time into Settlements Rising, and it’s one of those city builders that really sneaks up on you. You start with a small wooden settlement and a handful of villagers, and before you know it you’re managing layered production chains, expanding neighborhoods, and fine-tuning your economy to keep everyone happy. What I love most is how natural the growth feels — you’re not just placing buildings, you’re shaping a living town that gradually becomes more complex and efficient. There’s always a small problem to solve or an upgrade to work toward, and it hits that perfect “just one more year” loop. It feels thoughtful without being overwhelming, and when your settlement is running smoothly because of the systems you set up, it’s incredibly satisfying.
Man I want to like this game so bad but either the developers are new or just blind to QOL details. Clicking on a settler and moving them does nothing for giving actions. You can pointlessly move settlers around but can't have them pick up any items or tell them to perform any actions. The time passes so quickly while your settlers move so slow that it's silly. Each second or so of real time is a day in the game so you're blasting through time like an acid trip which with seasons in play can put you in a bind pretty quick. The roads that you can construct do absolutely nothing for speeding up your settlers. There are a few great aspects of the game that I love such as being able to re-direct areas for your buildings to hunt, gather, fish so it's not a small static circle around your building requiring optimal placement. The enhancement cards for added bonuses that can either be saved or used later in other games. Overall the issues present in this game make it seem like this game left early access too early... If I could get a refund I would consider it however that ship sailed as the only way to truly leave a decent review is to spend the necessary time to truly gauge the games qualities. I only truly pursue full refund on games that are absolute trash and this isn't one of those but man it needs some work...
Peacefully enjoyable city builder. If you like the idea of an ever expanding village while managing food production on top then the game is worth a try. Not nearly as harsh as other city builders or survival colony sims like Frostpunk or Oxygen Not Included, but I would say the relaxing charm to the city building has definitley hooked me. I hope they keep updating the game, expanding on what they already have and improving the villagers. (Improving the ai pathing, adding more depth to the bandit raids, maybe the abiltity to deform the terrain with villagers given enough in game time and increase their speed when walking on pathways) Otherwise a very nice game.
This game deserves way more attention. Since the dev of Banished finished that project long ago, Settlements Rising (and maybe Settlement Survival) are the closest experiences I’ve had that really capture that same vibe. Sure, it’s not perfect yet, but the frequent updates give me confidence it’ll keep improving. The UI is a bit unattractive at first, but you get used to it quickly, especially since the graphics and animations are really solid. I can already see myself sinking many more hours into this one. Good job devs! Keep it up :)

If you like Anno, or want to get into games like Anno, this is a chill version of that. You 'can' crank up the difficulty and it gets interesting. Also it was a welcoming surprise on how you could manage just the people. Really enjoyed this game.
