Sentinels is an awesome tower defence game. It has the standard base/tower building but It also allows you to enter the towers. Allowing you to fire them from the first person perspective. Toy Soldiers series also did this to great effect. This makes for awesome gameplay and immersion. There's never any downtime during gameplay which I love. It has a attractive cel shaded art style which really works well with the theme. A wide selection of tower to use and units to destroy. 9 Maps currently with plans to add 6 more. There is tons of replay value which will really add to playtime. Endless mode :), Challenges and 5 difficulty settings. If your a fan of the genre then getting this is a no brainer. The first person tower control adds so much. I did some gameplay here if you wanna see before you buy http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=870164660
A great tower game with a nice touch with the FP action on each cannon. New maps new content. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5Gi9oDhK7c
I love hybrid games: take two different game genres and mash them up into something that is recognizably from each genre but through some kind of awesome alchemy becomes completely different. I really like that my skill at first person shooting lets me take a more active role in fighting off the waves of enemies.
This game had potential. But potential is nothing without updates. This hasn't been updated in years. When I asked the devs if this was still being worked on, I was told this was a passion project and not a first priority. The devs seem like nice people, but they haven't produced the game they said they would. Overall, my experience with their product has been negative, as it hasn't delivered what was promised. Their store page indicated they expected the game to be released in 2019, however, it hasn't even been updated since then. Frankly, games like this are the reason I don't buy Early Access anymore.
Great graphics, on-point shooting, including FPS point of view shooting - what more can you want out of a tower defense game that is in 3D? Maybe, you would want those promises to be fulfilled. The game won’t even start - only the button “Back” is active, once you hit “PLAY” and you cannot play it. The menus stand there like a ghost after-effect. I cannot recommend this game to anybody, because I don’t know on which systems it works (or if it works at all). I am with Windows 7, and it does not work. EDIT: The developers contacted me and told me that they cannot replicate the issue, but they are working on a fix. It probably isn't entirely related to the Windows 7 OS. To clarify and answer the comment of the developer - I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS. The issue could be a combination of the video card (maybe it's too powerful) and monitor / DirectX version... I will edit this review again when we have run further tests. P.S.: I get a good vibe from the developers, and I think (and hope) that the issue will be fixed soon. Very happy to see that there are devs who care about their product and their users/clients. EDIT 2: The developers made a tweak that actually fixed my problem, and the game was fully accessible, with absolutely no visual glitches. I could tamper with the options - Audio, voices and graphic settings - all worked and all buttons were responsive. Launching into the game, it was quite enjoyable and of good difficulty. Gun mode is quite cool and smooth as well. The introductory video could have been shot with a little better quality. The game looks great for a tower defense in Full HD. Not bad for an Early Access build! TL:DR >> At the end, the game ran without any problems. All needed graphic and audio settings are there (game characters are voiced and it is done quite well). Only the introduction video could have been done with a better quality to match the actual gameplay quality. Devs are responsible and thoughtful people who give great support as every developer should!
You don't know how frantic this TD can get until you're managing the map, zooming down to commander level to snipe small power armor troops, then back out to trigger AOE, and back down trying to pick off the one ship that cleared your turrets. The mechanics are there already. The graphics are great. The updates are frequent. I'm excited to see this one grow.
Sentinels is an action/strategy hybrid that encourages you to fight in the trenches as well as in the command room. You can take control of the stationary turrets that make up your defense at any time in the battle. Your shooting skills are just as important as your tower placement. Mechanics like the critical hits on weakpoints add depth to the fast paced battles, and make you feel like an ace when you line up a perfect shot at the last moment. Sentinels avoids the rigidity of its tower defense genre peers and offers a far more replayable, free flowing action experience. The game design is much more flexible than the rock, paper, scissors you usually see. I never felt like I lost because I used the wrong tower at the wrong time. The sheer chaos is something to behold, and the gorgeous graphical engine has no problem handling all the mayhem. The game is already polished at this early stage of development, and the developers are open and responsive to community feedback. I can easily recommend this to tower defense fans, and fans of horde based shooters like Serious Sam or Earth Defense Force will find a lot to like here as well.
Saw this game advertised on Imgur of all places and figured hey that looks cool so I grabbed it and you know what, it is rather cool. Still kinda haphazard but I get that it being alpha still. A solid start and I hope to see where it goes from here.
I really enjoyed this game! Top review was clearly expecting way to much out of a game in alpha but I can understand because mechanics feel pretty solid. I am kinda miffed about endless mode ending on wave 101 but I don't think they have implemented actual scaling yet, just preprogrammed waves that get harder and harder until they cap out so It wasn't like I was going to die anytime soon. Overall Keep up the good work devs.
