You're a security officer deep within Area 51. Scan the staff, verify clearances, and decide who can enter the elevator and who absolutely mustn't leave. The deeper you go, the less certain you are that anyone standing before you is still human.
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Security 51 is an atmospheric security guard simulator inspired by Papers, Please, and SCP paranoia. You're on duty in the underground bunker of Area 51, where the most dangerous part begins at the elevator: the shaft descends for miles down to unknown levels. Whether it's laboratories, anomalies, inhumane experiments, or something alien—you're not supposed to know. Your task is simple: let in those who have access and stop those who don't... even if everything looks "right" on the surface.
Everyone who passes through your checkpoint carries papers and passes. Your job is to check names, positions, clearance levels, and time, ensuring the number of people entering and leaving matches, and pay attention to any oddities. As time passes you'll catch yourself thinking that something's wrong more and more, and the only thing to rely on will be the protocols. But even they can be wrong.
With experience, you'll gain increasingly more accurate methods of identity verification, such as blood testing. Did that janitor simply open the wrong door, or are they a spy for an enemy government? Or are they not even human? When in doubt, quarantine the suspect. Sometimes you'll make mistakes and lock up an ordinary employee, and sometimes you'll find a titanium cell ripped open from the inside. Some decisions will have immediate consequences, others only after several shifts.
The consequences of every mistake go far beyond issues in the workplace. Let the wrong person out, and the infection will ravage the city. Isolate suspicious employees, investigate anomalies, and launch new operations to contain the threat before it's too late.
Remember, it's not just about who you let in, but who or what you let out into the world.

Misses the mark quite honestly. It could and should have been so much different. The theme is there already. Wow, what a shame. Not Recommended

IGNORE the negative comments about story and hard or buggy gameplay. man those people are freaking NOOBS. the game has good story and very good gameplay and i like it alot i recommend u give it a try.
It's ok, 6/10. Makes you appreciate how masterfully designed Paper's Please was. In Paper's Please everything made sense. Newspaper mentions a polio outbreak in a neighbouring country? The next day you get to check people for vaccination certificates. Makes sense! In Security 51, nothing makes sense. Everything you do feels completely random, with no overarching narrative explanation. One day you're checking people's bones for anomalies, the next day you're having people executed for having external skin diseases. Why? Because today's rules said so. Stop asking questions, you silly wagey, haha! In Paper's Please, the game starts with a handful of mechanics and keeps adding more mechanics on top of the old ones, forcing you to adapt and juggle more and more stuff within the tight deadline. In S51, you get a seemingly randomly selected set of mechanics every day. It never gets overwhelming at all and it's really easy to be done way before the end of your shift. Stuff I liked: * The pixel art is nice Stuff I don't like: * There's a newspaper included you can check everyday (like in Paper's Please), but it just seems to have a bunch of random jokey articles that don't seem to affect gameplay and hardly adds to the narrative. It seems like you can highlight articles so you can cross-check it with something else, but it hasn't come up so far yet. * Game automates a lot of stuff it shouldn't, like returning all paperwork to the person after you punch their ticket. Half the fun in Paper's Please was shuffling around paperwork under pressure. * After a shift you get to buy stuff to refill your sanity and belly, which is this game's poor imitation of PP's "keep your family alive". It's hardly a struggle. After getting the bobblehead upgrade you basically never have to buy sanity-restoration stuff. * Speaking of which, the bobblehead seems like the only upgrade worth getting. The miniscule increases in things like the xray circle are just whatever. * The game babies you a lot with forced tutorials, but is also vague on other things like the overarching research mechanic, which I assume is simply there to determine which ending you'll get. (Haven't completed a run yet, currently on floor 3). * There doesn't seem to be any special NPCs (besides your supervisor dude) with unique dialogue. People keep droning the same 6 bits of random dialogue. There's also a lot of repetition when it comes to NPC names. I'm pretty sure I've had people with the same names on the same day before. * Game crams a bunch of mechanics into drawers (like the camera, microscope, etc.) which should have just been stuff cluttering your tablespace, really.
No, I'm not a dev's friend and I have to say that this is a nice game?!

It's cheap, a lot of fun and all in all a decent experience.
Of course, if you want a crazy, deep story.. no, this is not for you.
Am I a tryhard? No, I'm a normie and I enjoyed it.
Sometimes I had to concentrate a bit more to get everything right.
I don't understand why there's so many people complaining here.. I paid around 8 Euros and you're absolutely getting content worth the money.
