About

Bloodthirsty hordes of demons, criminals, clowns, and undead have flooded the streets of the once semi-relevant metropolis. The pantheon of the most famous and charming superheroes are dead or AWOL. Who's left? Well, uh… you guys are. Pick a 'hero' and fight to save Mayor McTrinkle and the, like, two untouched buildings left in the city. You know the drill: step up to the plate for once in your life, pick a sidekick, improve your super-hero game, and survive at least until one of the other Second Rates wakes up at noon and takes over your shift. Keep it up and maybe you'll get your own comic one day... if there was anyone left to write it. With intricate, interwoven and deep gameplay, crazy weapon combos, 20 heroes, 4 sidekicks, 4 levels, 3 difficulties, more than 400 upgrade cards, 82 permanent upgrades, and sweet, sweet hand drawn art – you’ll die over and over from anything but boredom. Ain’t nothing wholesome here: be prepared for a heart pounding urban adventure that juices up the action roguelike genre.

A new twist on the genre, giving you a Taunt mechanic and the use of Turrets to defend the Mayor, rather than just yourself.
Choose from 20 heroes (16 of which are unlockable), each of which plays entirely different.
Choose from 5 different sidekicks / unpaid interns with different bonuses - provided they stick around.

Metaprogression in the form of 84 permanent upgrade points, plus purchasable one-time items, to turn your Second Rates into eventual First Rates.
86 unlockable weapons, cards, lore and even music.

18 heart-pounding musical tracks
Hours upon hours of frustration, challenge, and heart-pounding fun.
Second-rate superheroes, First-rate Survivor-like.
Of course, the title is a mere exaggeration, it's not THAT good but you can tell there's a lot of dedication put into it. In this roguelite, besides surviving ourselves, we also have to protect an immobile NPC. Build towers? Yes, we can build towers, why not?. There is also a rich roster of 20 heroes, each with their own main weapon and characteristics, as well as 4 sidekicks. Highlighting its goodlooking comic style art and HUGE variety of upgrades makes it a decent game to pass time, at a good price and even with a demo. The difficulty might match its grind, so consider yourself warned. The Boys Version of Vampire Survivors. All comic fans must buy this game! P.S. I'll update this review in the future.
This is a hidden gem.
Same colors for enemy and player AOE damage effects Bad hitboxes no idea about real AOE size No skill cooldowns on screen this game lacks basic QOL to be playable
Great entry in the 'Survivor' genre; wonderful art, unique characters, and a generous amount of unlocks and power ups, and it's affordable. Would love to see more added to the game.
This is an amazing game. It is very difficult but you'll get addicted to it. Beat the 1st map at my 11th hour, with my partner's coaching too. But once you got the hang of it, you can't stop playing.
I've always wondered why there aren't any superhero-themed roguelikes. Is it the best of its kind? No. But it looks promising.
For now I give this game Thumbs Up. The artstyle is decent, alternative superheroes look fun. The dealt and received hits have good feedback with added gore in fight. There is alot of Upgrade cards with random quality, passives, skills and some risk/reward option. You can choose a sidekick who follow you and give some passive buff in battle. The gameplay is smooth. My issue, what is rather just a personal preference, that this not a traditional survivor bullet heaven as it have a twist where you need to protect a stationary NPC in whole fight. Not my taste. However the game feels promising and maybe we can have somekind of alternative game mode wthout NPC defense.
A hero creator would be the cherry on top! :P
This is a lot of game for a small price - plenty of grind, upgrades that actually make a difference, characters that are noticeably different, and there are side-kicks.
