This twin-stick shooter definitely nails the high-energy, dystopian game show vibe, but the actual gameplay loops get old fast. Dodging traps and blasting waves of mutants feels fast and frantic at first, but the bullet-sponge enemies and clunky targeting controls sap the fun out of later levels. It’s got a solid aesthetic and decent weapon variety, but the repetitive room layouts make it hard to recommend for long play sessions. Grab it on a deep sale if you just want a quick, mindless arcade fix.
Smash TV!!!!

This game has changed my life in so many ways. You can even say it "rotated" my perspective on life. Death Run TV is so amazing. It could use more rotation. Only rotation that happens is when your character looks a different way. Deathrun is a very frenetic roguelite. In my opinion, a way too frenetic for it's own good one, too. In this one, you are a participant in a cruel and deranged TV show where people die in droves trying to reach the finish while fighting monsters and dodging traps. Thing is, it's very front-loaded with all the hazards, there's an unrelenting endless wave of enemies, projectiles show up real soon, progression requires doing a konga line of easily killed civvies to pick up and deliver to rescue point and there aren't many synergies there. This one happens to have super open accessibility options allowing to slow the game by half, or speed up, disable traps and buff weapons among other things, but as difficulty options it feels like a bandage on a badly balanced experience that could have had more variety in levels and better pacing of difficulty instead of starting off hard with loads of hazards and enemies, when even with completed tutorial you feel like fish out of water trying to get used to general feel and nuances. Hell the UI always feels kinda confusing even after playing a while, could use more clarity too, hard to read with how hectic things are. Can't really recommend this one, sorry, unless you got the reflexes to dodge so many hazards and keep track of everything.
almost kind of good. more weapons than ideas for weapons, some weapons have a near identical variant like a bunch of the sameish pistols or the 2 auto shotguns that are almost unidentifiable in their difference. the gunplay is good and it has an interesting tilted perspective while not being isometric. the art for everything is good but in action lots of stuff is barely readable, some enemies look almost identical to the prisoners you are gathering, I would prefer more pixely art to rounded flash art, a simple filter could provide this. this game is almost entirely untested using anything besides a controller I would imagine. this is my experience with trying to change a few key binds. go to the options menu, find the controls section, scroll down 30x too many because the scroll speed for the menu is set incredibly slow so every scroll of your mouse is like 1/10th of a scroll, so take a little break by the time you reach the bind you are looking to change, click on space next to the action of what I would like to change the button or key of, press the key or button I would like for this action, the window scrolls all the way up, scroll down again for a while, ok it changed to what I wanted cool, go to set the next key because some are now double bound and I would still like to change a few things, repeat all the tedious steps previously described, this time it just fails to set the bind, repeat scrolling down painfully like 4 or 5 times hoping maybe doing it multiple times or changing a different key or something might make it work, no nothing is working, come back later and try to change the controls again, the first rebind I did is still saved I notice so maybe I have to restart the game each time I want to change a single actions button or key, no I just can't change the controls any more, sometime later playing with the options and well lets try the controls again why not, ok it just randomly reset the bind I had successfully changed so whatever controls you do manage to change for yourself they will just be randomly reset at some point. officially fed up with that, during gameplay the game demands you press the ENTER key to interact with anything in the game space. this includes situations like a stage is clear and anti camp bombs are spawning and you might have some prisoners or a weapon or god forbid an upgrade style pickup that also demands the enter key so there is a time crunch to max your score and leave the level but also completely remove your hand from the mouse more than one time per stage always during a time sensitive situation, another example of this is when you need to pick an upgrade as I mentioned before but not only is the level swarming with enemies still because you accidentally dropped off your massive line of prisoners you gathered which spawn dumps a bunch of upgrade pickups all in the same spot and if you choose one of them the other 2 choices per drop disappear but you have no idea which icon corresponds to which drop because they are all just smashed on top of eachother as well as fire effects, bodies, blood, scorch marks, probably some red pain overlay on your screen, weird aoe indicators and other area indicators that i dont understand or were not explained, traps, weird generative level design creating even more difficulty to see so anyways back to pressing enter, this is such a pain in the ass I was more often completely ignoring the pickups because some of them you don't even want like the one to make you run faster and faster and faster and faster, thats like asking me to spam redeem in gradius every single time I got the first red capsule for a speed up bonus, at some point you are good with the amount of speed you have, so you have almost no control over the few poor choices of upgrades you do receive while playing. I personally like the tone of the voice acting where its like some hyper serious murderous vulgarity, but I could see that being a low point for some people in an otherwise somewhat light hearted style of cartoony murder rampage sim, you can probably just mute the voices entirely. I also really enjoy the sandbox nature of the starting room, you get to play with all of the guns and will almost certainly accidentally shoot someone wandering around inside, thats when the cops spawn and give you a bit of a challenge. an unfinished game you can mess around with. feels like its worth about 3-5 dollars
Good fast paced hyper-roguelite game
