About
After hostilities have broken out in Central Europe, the race is on as a pressured US Navy escort force battle off Soviet bomber and submarine attacks on a perilous quest to reinforce NATO defenders in Europe. Meanwhile, in the Persian Gulf, the conflict between Iran and Iraq risks escalating into a larger confrontation between superpowers as both sides indiscriminately attack neutral merchant shipping. And in the Norwegian Sea, an outnumbered Soviet surface force challenges the might of a massive US Navy amphibious force bound for occupied Norway...
Brought to you by the lead designer of Cold Waters, Sea Power lets you control NATO and Warsaw Pact forces in a modern naval conflict. Whether it's gunning it out with Boghammars in a surface duel, fighting off aerial attackers armed with long-range missiles, or hunting for enemy submarines with aircraft and surface ships, advanced weaponry and sensors are at your disposal.
Can you successfully hide your forces while detecting and tracking theirs? It is up to you to play an advanced game of cat and mouse on the high seas, to seize the initiative and attack with the advantage of surprise on your side. And at all times, you have to observe rules of engagement and take care not to cause an unnecessary incident that could lead to escalation. After all, you cannot really be sure just who that radar contact at 30.000 feet is, can you?

I’ve just finished Pacific Strike ‘85 twice, once on Moderate and once on Difficult, and I think Task Force Mode is one of the best additions to the game. It’s what keeps me coming back. I became genuinely attached to ships that survived multiple missions, and every purchase felt meaningful. One thing I’d love to see expanded is the persistent campaign system. Instead of repairs only costing points, I’d love to see repairs also take time or missions depending on the severity of the damage. That would make protecting veteran ships even more important and create interesting strategic decisions. I’d also love to see logistics become part of the campaign. Fleet oilers, ammunition ships and repair ships could become optional purchases that let you rearm and repair away from port. It would add another layer of planning without changing the excellent tactical gameplay. Finally, I think the ultimate evolution of Task Force Mode would be a longer campaign where you start with a small escort force and gradually build a complete carrier battle group. Choosing whether to spend points on a Spruance, a Kidd, an E-2C Hawkeye, more Hornets or eventually a carrier would be incredibly satisfying and would make every campaign feel unique. Sea Power already has some of the best Cold War naval combat I’ve played. Expanding the persistent Task Force system would make it something really special.
Awesome game!

Excellent game.
