About
Your journey begins on a remote island with a small crew of workers and a ship full of supplies. Mine raw materials, reshape the fully dynamic terrain, grow crops, build factories, and research new technologies. Expand across the island, lay rail networks, trade with distant settlements, and work your way up to nuclear power and space flight.
The entire terrain is fully dynamic. Every mountain can be flattened, every valley filled, and even the ocean can be reclaimed to expand the available land. Create open-pit mines to reach deep ore deposits, or dump excess rock into the ocean to expand your shoreline. Build ramps and slopes so your vehicles can reach any elevation.
Start simple with iron smelting, concrete mixing, and food processing. As you research new technologies, expand into oil refining, electronics, computing, and eventually rocket and space station components. Manage waste and pollution before they affect your people's health.

Trucks handle general logistics automatically, delivering products where they are needed most. Lay conveyor belts and pipes for high-throughput direct connections between machines. Build a rail network to move bulk cargo across long distances. Use amphibious vehicles and bridges to reach other islands.
Grow crops on farms and process them into food or industrial products. Supply fertilizers to boost yields and build greenhouses to grow more advanced crops. Your population needs housing, clean water, electricity, healthcare, and household goods. Keep them happy and healthy, and they will reward you with Unity, a resource that lets you speed up construction, enact powerful edicts, and claim resources on the world map. Neglect waste management or let pollution build up, and diseases will spread.
Send your ship out to explore the world map. Discover new islands with resources to import, refugees to rescue, and allied settlements to trade with. Establish shipping contracts for recurring exchanges, or negotiate quick trades when you need something fast. Your ultimate goal is full self-sufficiency: launch rockets, build a space station, and mine asteroids for rare resources that make your colony independent indefinitely.
Copy and paste parts of your factory, or save entire layouts as blueprints to reuse and share. Use planning mode to lay out designs before committing resources. Design your own island in the map editor and play it or share it with others. Or switch to sandbox mode where all buildings and resources are free, perfect for experimenting and learning.

I am enjoying the game, but... then they released paid DLC in a early access game, and that just feels... Wrong. It's something Paradox or EA would do. I already gave them my money, I would be more than happy to pay for something that shouldn't be in the base game, but... Well, they already have my money and I won't buy the DLC.
It's a pretty good concept. The balance could use some work. But playable and fun. However. Any game that releases a paid DLC that isn't cosmetic, an actual game changing DLC that is paid prior to full release.. I can't recommend. Absolutely bonkers to me that they are trying to justify it as "well yall kept asking for it and we weren't planning on developing it, so if you want it you have to pay extra for it".. like what? no. Not ok.
Releasing FUNCTIONAL DLC in an early access game is insane, imo. Absolutely loved every hour I have played of this, and I really hope it doesn't go further downhill from here...
My review was positive until they released DLC while still in early access. I believe developers are owed good $ for their work. But I do not support this behavior. Please do not buy this game and support the spread of this practice. Early access is a way for developers to get funding to help them finish the game. DLC should either add to a finished game, or be cosmetic-only. Any other explanation is scam reasoning produced by some focus group.
This game is extremely fun and full of layers of complexity vanilla Factorio can only dream of. I like it a lot, I've enjoyed 99% of my time playing this game so far, so I would absolutely recommend PLAYING this game. That said, the developers are terrible. They seem disinterested in actually supporting their product, as after posting a bug report and requesting assistance the issue was immediately without any evidence blamed on my i9 having degraded and my follow-up pointing out that cinebench tests indicate otherwise, and that this is the only program experiencing issues, were ignored. Throw on top their recent burning of all bridges with their own modding scene, and releasing a frankly half-baked paid DLC for a game that's still in early access and while I can absolutely recommend playing this game, I cannot by any means recommend supporting this developer.
The devs just launched a DLC locking functional instead of cosmetic assets behind a paywall while this game is still in Early Access. If they wanted more money, they could've just raised the price of the base game and/or the supporter DLC.
I bought this game years ago, had a pretty good time with it, but left it away in a drawer because it was clearly incomplete. Came back 5 years later, and I saw -ON AN EARLY ACCESS GAME- DLC. Like, DLC is sold when the game is STILL in early access. What the hell? I mean, I love the industrial realism style and the terraforming, among many other things... but DLC? IN EARLY ACCESS? AFTER I BOUGHT THE SUPPORTER EDITION UPGRADE ALREADY? This is scummy as ♥♥♥♥. People like this should not be allowed on Steam. I cannot in all conscience recommend this now even if it was fun at the time. Also for some reason, the in-game calendar has every month having 30 days. So yes, there is also a February 30.
The game is amazing. You can play at your own pace, pause, test, fidget around with builds and adjust the game to your own personal preferences in terms of difficulity. The game has an excellent tutorial that doens't pop up and force you to read a bunch of stuff, but just makes the game flow more easily with a guided experience, rather than holding your hand and telling you what to do - it is optional to do the tutorial, but you'll eventually do it anyway and get some rewards for it. The game is also brutal, you can death spiral your base easily if you don't know what you are doing and it's both fantastic and really frustrating, but as always, you can load an autosave. As an avid Factorio player, this game is a fantastic game that does "the same thing" without doing the same thing. It tickles that itch and the terraforming is FANTASTIC. You aren't just placing down a miner and watching ore spawn from nothing, you are actually digging up the ground and moving it around, sorting it and then using the materials to build more. There are some bad thing, not being able to adjust a blueprint and then save overwrite the old blueprint, instead having to make a new one, but it's minor QoL stuff that the devs are probably already aware of.
First let me say that I absolutely love this game. What breaks it for me is the random crashes. It absolutely drives me mad. Especially since they are absolutely random. Sometimes I can play for 5 hours straight with no crashes other times it crashes 2-3 times/hour. Lost countless hours of play - you know how annoying it can be after you've been working at at project for an hour with the game paused, fixed every pipe and belt, and then its gone. Autosaves are unreliable for some reason. I can load some but not others game crashes on loading autosaves. Sometimes if you stick to it and try an reload a save file several times, eventually it works. No other game or piece of software on this machine shows the same behaviour (including other Unity-engine games) so unlikely a hardware problem/driver. Anyway everything is up to date. Would love to come back to it once out of EA, hopefully the bugs will be ironed out. BTW, I bought the game since 1st day EA, Supporter edition.
The technology tree and limited resources ensure that there will be plenty of different objectives to pursue for a long time. In addition, from time to time you’ll have to solve a problem, whether it’s an energy crisis, a resource depletion, or a supply chain disruption. The game offers tremendous depth and replayability. What I like

The game about taking care of your people with help of industrial automation
Relatively realistic and grounded mechanics (instead of a scifi or fantasy setting)
Trains
Detailed buildings and vehicles
Many good maps (especially Dragon Trail)
Photo mode
What I wish

Roads
Exploration and shipping needs some love
Prosedurally generated maps
High-resolution screenshots in photo mode
Key controls to tilt camera up/down
Native Linux support
9/10
