Now please note at the time of reviewing it I have only made it through the first new area as part of the new update and not got a chance to play through the rest so some things I list might come later. I will start off by saying thank you for not leaving this game I am really glad to see you trying your best to fix this game with that you have my full honor and respect and I hope to see more updates in the future for I will keep an eye on it and would recommend it on the fact that he is truly sticking by his game and could end up being something cool like Castle Torgeath Descent into Darkness or Dungeons & Darkness and at that price why not.. To start off here are a few things I ran into that I feel need work, sometimes when I attack with my short sword or mace the attack does not land where as the enemy keeps hitting me it's like Morrowind all over again. sometimes when the wizard skeleton hits me even with the mana shield active I fly back or up like 30ft I have also been hit so much to the point I clip through the map fall and die. The level up system seems to not work fully or unnecessary when I level up my weapons do the same amount of damage but the enemies do double even though they are my level and the last glitch is sometimes the enemies get stuck in a attack animation loop Now for things I feel you can add later on, 1) add a brightness bar or torch because the starting cell is super dark. 2) would be nice to have a map, 3) I would love to see armor, bows, and magic added later on, 4) maybe add some hands to the weapons so it does not look like I am a floating sword, and 5) if you can I would love to see you add more swords to the game or make the weapons level up with you.
i want to like this game but its just not fun unless its on sale for like 50 cents its not worth it
Ślamazarne ruchy uderzenia mieczem, brak sensownych hitboxów (uderzyłem w powietrze nad szkieletem a ten padł) i machanie niczym cepem. Źle to wygląda. O ile walka z jednym, dwoma wrogami to zwyczajna wymiana ciosów, to potyczki z większą ilością szkieletów to śmierć gracza.
Beat the game, I got a little confused, at the end, but you could beat it in 40 minutes. You can tell its a project a solo person worked hard on and wants it to be so much more. No armor to equip, no levels, no skills. You can walk backwards and swing and non of the non mage enemies can hit you. I am sure the creature would like to add those things and I hope he does add them. I feel like he rushed it, all the effort he put into the game should be put into the first town. I get it though, they wanted to get it out. I hope to see more content soon, but I have not seen a post from him in a year. I recommend spending the 3 bucks and supporting him.
This feels like an unfinished prototype, you can see the framework for a good game that was abandoned and just released as is, I would only buy this in the bundle with all 4 games in it because Mirum already feels better because it only focuses on puzzles and I haven't tried Imprison Hyperion yet though hopefully the developer built a more complete game from this framework.
Scrolls of the Lord is a dark fantasy action title that wears its inspirations proudly. Developed and published by Arbatskii Anatolii, the game presents players with a grim tale of resurrection and redemption in a world that has already fallen into ruin. Rather than focusing on saving kingdoms or gathering allies, the story begins after the apocalypse has already claimed its victims. Players assume the role of a disgraced knight brought back to life by a mysterious force and tasked with uncovering the secrets behind the destruction of the realm. This premise immediately sets a melancholic tone that remains consistent throughout the entire adventure. The game's greatest strength lies in its atmosphere. Every environment, from abandoned settlements to gloomy wilderness areas, conveys the feeling of traversing a land that has long since surrendered to despair. Scrolls of the Lord embraces a minimalist approach to storytelling, allowing its setting to communicate much of its lore. There are no grand cinematic sequences or excessive dialogue dumps; instead, the game encourages players to absorb the world through exploration. Fans of classic PC fantasy games will likely appreciate this design philosophy, as it recalls an era when mystery and imagination played a significant role in the player's experience. Combat combines melee encounters with magical abilities, offering a modest level of flexibility. Swordplay relies on timed strikes and defensive maneuvers, while spells provide an alternative for those who prefer keeping enemies at a distance. The mechanics are simple and occasionally rough around the edges, but they remain functional throughout the campaign. Battles tend to emphasize positioning and caution rather than speed, creating a slower and more deliberate pace. Although veterans of modern action RPGs may find the combat somewhat dated, there is an undeniable charm in its commitment to a more traditional style of gameplay. Progression is straightforward, keeping the focus on the journey itself rather than on extensive character customization or intricate skill systems. The game's linear structure works in its favor, ensuring that players remain engaged with the unfolding mystery instead of becoming distracted by unnecessary side activities. Exploration still plays an important role, however, as hidden details and environmental cues enrich the narrative and provide context for the world's tragic past. The balance between combat, exploration, and storytelling helps maintain a consistent rhythm across the experience. That said, Scrolls of the Lord is unmistakably an independent production, and its limitations are visible. Character models, animations, and enemy variety do not always meet the standards expected from larger releases. Technical shortcomings occasionally interrupt immersion, and some aspects of the presentation feel outdated. Nevertheless, these issues are mitigated by the sincerity of the project. It is evident that Arbatskii Anatolii aimed to create a personal homage to classic fantasy adventures rather than chase mainstream trends, and that passion is present in nearly every aspect of the game. In the end, Scrolls of the Lord succeeds as a niche experience tailored to players who value atmosphere and old-school sensibilities over polish and spectacle. It may not appeal to those seeking expansive role-playing systems or cutting-edge visuals, but it offers a memorable journey through a haunting world filled with mystery and decay. For enthusiasts of obscure indie fantasy titles, it stands as an admirable effort that demonstrates how compelling a game can be when it has a clear vision and remains faithful to it. Rating: 6/10
