About
Screeps: Arena is an online asynchronous PvP game where your script fights other players' scripts autonomously in a 1v1 match-based arena environment.
The game features all the strategic depth you expect from a classic RTS, including gathering resources, base building, and creating units. But there's a revolutionary twist: you don't control your units directly. Instead, you play by writing a full-fledged JavaScript that runs on the game servers, autonomously executing your grand strategy.
Only basic programming skills are required to start, but it provides a deep, complex game environment where pro coders can push their skills to the absolute limit. While JavaScript is native, you can use community-supported packages for TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Kotlin, the list is growing (see in Steam guides).
Your code will battle other players' scripts in a series of short, fast-paced 1v1 matchups. The system automatically matches you with equal opponents based on your arena rating. Best of all, you can find an evenly matched game instantly, 24/7. Even if no other players are online, the system will use their saved code to provide you with a constant challenge.
Discover different "arenas"—unique multiplayer game modes, each with its own rule set and strategic goals. To keep the competition fresh, we introduce new arenas every season, forcing you to adapt and write new code for different challenges. Earn daily fame, gain resources, and craft items to unlock more content, or play with friends and design your own private challenges.

Deep in the night you're debugging your code. You add logging to the console and visual markers just to ensure everything is working according to plan. Your new feature is finally implemented; you've tested it against your previous opponents and you're ready to climb the ladder ... Twenty games in a row, your rank is growing. Your code handles all the things you've encountered before, and all is going well until you meet that new guy with a crazy strat you've never even thought of. You lose the game, but now you have an idea of how to improve your own approach. Early morning (thank God it's the weekend), a new version of your code is ready, and you realize you are completely hooked on the game ... Release version 1.0 is already out. New arenas are available. The skill level is diverse; you will always have a matching opponent, but if you want to climb high, you need to put in effort. The game has a pretty active and supportive Discord community. If you love programming and aren't afraid of competition, come join us.
Cautious recommendation. Note: Playtime is vastly inflated because I tend to AFK with the game running. Why cautious? This game has been abandoned by the devs. The last update was in 2022, and the game is still officially in alpha. The community is also pretty dead. According to steamcharts, there are usually less than 5 people playing the game. Why recommended in spite of this? Because the game is genuinely very fun. Coding the behaviour of your bot is very satisfying, and the iteration loop is very tight and fun. You play matches until you lose a match, you analyze the replay, find out why you lost, and improve your code until you start winning. The community being dead also doesn't really matter, because all the bots people have ever written for the game are still there and can be fought. Also, you need to have at least basic programming skills to play this game.
https://github.com/EagleBaby/python_screeps_arena https://gitee.com/eagle-s_baby/python_screeps_arena --------------------------------------------------------------- Good Game, looking forward to the game update. Additionally, I only found a Python translator for Screeps:World on Github (the World code is not compatible with the Arena code). My own JavaScript coding skills are poor, so I developed a Python translator for Arena by referring to the World Python translator code. My creeps script was completed using this Python tool. https://github.com/EagleBaby/python_screeps_arena https://gitee.com/eagle-s_baby/python_screeps_arena
The game has recently released into 1.0 and I've been having a great time. The challenge of figuring out how to beat someone else's bot with yours is very fun. The developer is also active in the discord and usually answers messages from people asking questions towards them. However, the game does require actively logging in to keep your current rank if you care about that, as people can begin to outpace you in the leaderboard. 2 out of the 3 arenas are very complicated, I recommend starting with spawn strike (just kill the enemies spawn.) The top review is no longer true, the game is very much not dead.
Dev's read the review and fixed wayland/linux problems i had
Recently received 1.0 update and Season 1, which has been a ton of fun. Competetive, RTS programming game, with seasonally changing arenas to let you tackle new challenges much like new puzzles bundled in a familiar framework. I enjoy both of the Screeps games, this one being more about quickly iterating on your ideas and seeing them play out. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience dynamic programming challenges and finding solutions to gain an edge over other players.
我遇到了一个bug。如图所示。我无法点击8之后的标题。我尝试更改了一些分辨率,但 8 之后我仍然看不到选项.无论是正式版还是demo版. ---------------- I'm running into a bug. As shown in Fig. I can't click on the title after 8. I started playing screeps world a couple years ago and fell in love with the concept of a persistent world for tower defense with behavior mechanics limited only by your imagination and the ways you can use the language. Ended up logging over a 1k hours. I bought screeps arena because I couldn't find another game that quite scratched the same itch. Pros Screeps arena has all the depth that comes with programming your units and structures but it takes you straight to the action. Often in world, the game progresses rather slow and travel takes time. Often by the time creeps reach their destination you risk not observing them at the right time if you get distracted. This makes developing combat code in screeps world a hassle. Arena fixes all that by operating as fast as 20 ticks per second and drops you into an arena with other players on demand. Cons As mentioned the client is a little buggy and sometimes the map doesn't render and you have to restart the client. The API is also incomplete relative to what you might be used to in screeps world but often mechanics can be somewhat inferred from screeps world and vice versa.
Great game. Active and helpful community on discord and the developers are always reachable and quick to respond for feedback etc.
Screeps: Arena is a programming-based PvP strategy game where you don't control units with hotkeys, but with code. You write real JavaScript (or use some other language) to decide how your creeps gather resource, build structures, and fight. Then your script goes into 1v1 arenas and battles other players' scripts on its own. Despite being PvP, is's surprisingly chill. Matches aren't played in real time, and you're usually fighting saved versions of other players' bots, so there's no real "ladder anxiety". You can watch and replay games as often as you like, analyze what went wrong, tweak, and test again until you're satisfied. The core loop feels genuinely rewarding: hit a wall against an opponent you can't beat, go back to your code and experiment until you finally crack their strategy, then watch your rating climb. The game has just hit its 1.0 release with ranked seasons and achievements, and you can unlock more (and advanced) arenas and cosmetics by playing the game. Each season brings fresh arenas with different rules and win conditions. The community is small but very welcoming, and the official Discord is great for getting help and discussing the game. If you enjoy programming (or maybe want to dive into the deep end to learn), and like the idea of your code fighting for you as you watch your creeps scuttle around like little ants, this game is absolutely worth a try.
