Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews
Eh. This game is fine, but I can't recommend it. It's lacking a LOT of content compared to SW4, hell even SW4-II. Many character have been cut, since the period ends at 1582 at Yamazaki , and even with character cuts there are clones aplenty. Gameplay is good, Hyper attacks got nerfed a bit. I can respect them trying something new with the story. Citadel mode is trash, and you have to play it if you want to upgrade your weapons. DLC is at its most egregious, absolute garbage slop. Not a single DLC is worth getting. Buy SW4 DX instead. You'll get way more bang for your buck.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 27: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's a well made game, I enjoyed it.
I wouldn't say that this game is necessarily bad in comparison to SW4 or SW2. Those is obviously better games, just as WO4 and WO3, however, I really liked the RPG elements and ability to make nearly ultimate weapons yourself (just to be clear, Rare and DLC weapons is actually LESS powerful than those you can craft). There is so much to level up, so much to grind for, much more than in SW4. But the problem is that you basically have only Story Mode (and Free Mode after you clear any chapter) and Citadel Mode. And let me tell you one thing - gating progress behind upgrading your Castle was a mistake. Because to upgrade the Castle you need to grind Citadel mode for materials and said mode is just a number of 5 min. battles with hordes of enemies you defend your base against. It can be hard or engaging, but at some point you just gonna rush it with bow combo strat, believe me. Random generated battles like in SW4 would be MUCH better than that. Now, artstyle and cast. I like how this game looks and it's awesome blend of anime and traditional painting (sumi-e). The fact that all male characters is now look more attractive is not really a problem I think, except Tokugawa who became... an actual teenager, yea. Girls looks simply awesome. It is not really the look of the cast that bothers me, it's that they were cut down compared to SW4. I mean, yes I understand, that this story follows strictly Nobunaga and his loyal pack, their enemies and some other officers but seriously, there is a lot of people who could have been there. Not a fan of moveset cloning, but considering the size of the cast, this is really strange, feels rushed. Mechanically wise, this is simply good. Extremely fast paced, flashy and epic slasher. It is exactly what you expect, except that enemy officers guard is not that easily breakable as it was, so you need to use ultimate moves or power-combos to do that. Spear-soldiers that stop your combos is absolute аss though, because they can blend in. Oh and late game musketeers is also can stunlock you to hell. Personally, I got what I expected. I am satisfied mostly and can see myself playing it much more just to level all characters and build OP weapons. Would I recommend it as your first SW game ? No, go buy SW4 DX. Would I recommend it as your first DW game ? No, go buy DW8 or WO4. Is it a GOOD game ? Definitely yes, albeit rushed and would really benefit from some refinement. Hopium for SW5-II or SW5 DX is strong. And yes it is capped at 60FPS but never dipped below on my appropriate Sengoku-era CPU even with hordes of enemies on screen and thousands of effects.
不错 挺喜欢的 画风超级喜欢!觉得挺好玩的 就是流程太短啦!要是能体验整个战国就好啦
Sadly, SW5 is a mixed bag. It has the best gameplay of a warriors game, it's fast, fluid, challenging (peons actually fight & dmg you sometimes), no dumb 15 sec. ult move to slow things down (which ruined warriors abyss & orochi), there's lock on, etc...so it has all of the best gameplay elements of a warriors game...but I can't stand how most of the characters look like now, they're lame compared to previous Samurai Warriors games. It sucks because the cell shaded graphics perfectly fit a Japanese game and the soundtrack is top-notch, but the character designs are boring. Either you go more realistic, or more anime/SW4, not this weird in between. The biggest issue is that the game has a serious lack of weapon types, so most characters are merely a skin anyways, as they use the same weapon as others...What were they thinking??? The story and free mode are not the best of the series but good enough, the excellent gameplay carries those but this shouldn't have been called SW5, it should have been a spin-off, because the story only focuses on 2 characters, for the most part. If we ever get a SW6, I hope they continue using the cell-shaded graphics but bring back the character appearances & weapons from SW4. I recommend on sale, it gets stale quicker than other warriors games because of the aforementioned. There's only 4-5 characters I actually want to play as.
6.5/10 OVERALL EXPERIENCE, BUY ONLY ON DEEP SALES
Don't mind my limited Steam playtime, I've played this to end on PS5. Samurai Warriors 5 isn't a bad game. It's *fine* on its own. The game can get pretty fun when all cylinders are firing, but that doesn't happen as often as it should. Unfortunately, Samurai Warriors 5 is successor to the Samurai Warriors 4 family of games, which are up there as some of the best games in the Musou series, and SW5 failed to meet expectations. Moving from SW4/4-II/Spirit of Sanada to SW5 feels very jarring. Long refined character movesets were removed in favor of weapon movesets, and characters could swap between weapons, meaning most characters don't really get their own identity. This on its own wouldn't have been a bad change - Dynasty Warriors Origins did the same thing and that game was awesome. The problem is that most of the new movesets kinda just aren't as good compared to their SW4 counterparts. SW5 being a series reboot, a lot of characters got new characterizations and designs. A lot of these are hit or miss. Nobunaga, Mitsuhide, Nohime, and Shingen Takeda are good examples of when the characterization lands. On the other end of the spectrum, there's Tadakatsu Honda, who's just totally unrecognizable and loses all of his presence as a legendary samurai. Most characters fall in between, where I can see the direction the writers were trying to go with them, even if it didn't land well. Ieyasu Tokugawa being a shota with an neesama wife was funny as hell, but it wears off quickly when you get to the end of the game and he's still a shota trying to make a name for himself. The Tokugawa were a powerhouse by that time of the Sengoku period, and he should've grown up alongside Nobunaga. The narrative being mostly focused around Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi is also something that isn't bad on its own, but it definitely could've done with better execution. Unlike Spirit of Sanada, which was a spinoff game, SW5 is a mainline title, and having the game focus almost entirely on Nobunaga and Akechi means leaving out a lot of iconic set pieces like Ueda, Sekigahara, Kawanakajima, Tedorigawa, etc. Now, the battles we did get were mostly pretty well done, I just wished there was more of it to chew on. So, is the game good? Yes. I would say it's good. Not great, but certainly not bad. Is the game worth buying? Yes, I would say it's worth buying, on the condition that it's on sale for 50% or more. There are many Musou games that are worth full price admission. SW5 is not one of them.
