About
A 2000s retro-style psychological survival horror about a father fighting through shifting nightmares to reach the family he lost.
You were busy... your stories, your career, they were everything. The calls could wait. You promised you'd be home. Now you're here for them. Your wife and your daughter. But is it too late?
Built to feel like the early 2000s. You'll need to keep pushing, down through the apartments, into the weeping sewers, and into places you didn't know you remembered.
But the walls don't stay still. They shift. They bleed into something else.

Pipes. Bats. Knives. Cleavers. Axes. Anything you can find. And yes...
Firearms exist. Pistols and guns. But they're fragile hope, and every bullet is a choice you must make to survive.

Keys, healing items, tools, and puzzle pieces... all take space in your limited inventory. You’ll be managing what little you have, making uncomfortable choices, and trusting your gut when you decide what stays in your pockets.

The puzzles won’t make sense to your troubled mind. Not at first. Clues and logic from a half-remembered dream. They seem simple at first glance, but unsettling once they click.

The only thing holding your walls together. And some things... some are heavier.
The monsters feel personal, as if they were born from sleepless nights and broken promises that you tried to ignore.
Beings that don’t want you to see what’s waiting at the bottom.

A strange, sad journey. We hope it stays with you.
Inspired by the haunting look of the PS2 and early Xbox 360 era, when horror felt heavier, louder in the quiet, and closer to the skin.
If this kind of horror speaks to you, we’d be grateful if you wishlisted the game. It truly helps.

Overall reminds me of afraid of monsters dc more than cry of fear. short but fun game anyways, very good/10
Story? Good. Atmosphere? Good. 2000's horror game inspired by Cry of Fear/Silent Hill? Well Done. However... The gameplay was a bit frustrating and I disliked the boss mechanics. They were too frustrating for me personally. So much so I almost quit the game entirely. The ending was also very lackluster. I'm glad to be finished with it.
10/10 ambience, tons of scares, and runs very smoothly (didn't even find any bugs and i normally come across one or two). highly suggest checking it out if you're a fan of survival horror at all.
The dev came by to my stream to watch me fight. It was a good fight. I like the game btw.
Very Solid Horror Experience Starts off very strong with the horror that did still manage to keep me on my toes until the end but i did feel that once clearing a room of enemies that i was safe and never really lost this feeling. Had a few bugs here and there but nothing game breaking except one where i couldnt open the inventory after acquiring a sledgehammer which led to me restarting the game this one time (only happened once so this wasnt too irritating) Puzzles werent too challenging or ambiguious and i didnt get stuck for too long as there are clear puzzle clues given to the player and the small help tip inside the inventory screen is very helpful at times when i forgot what i was doing Level variety is interesting if a little cliche for the genre. Obviously with the games inspirations im not going to say this was a bad thing as i do think the devs did enough unique things with their levels to set themselves apart from other games in the genre. The thing i have to give the biggest praise is the audio design in this game. Horrific whispering and moans from behind doors to the wails and screams of enemies, everything was excellent and set a really oppressive atmosphere. Some of the voice acting did fall a little flat at times but not enough to really take me out of the whole experience Some areas i think could be improved is the combat as it feels more like im trading health with the enemies in melee combat which explains the generous amount of health in the game. This did remove a bit of the tension later in the game as i knew i would always have health just around the corner. Maybe in future projects this can be fleshed out with a blocking or dodging mechanic to give the combat a bit more of a satisfying feel :) I did have a few critiques of the firearms but these were patched out quite quickly and now the weapons in the game feel quite effective. Ammo is quite plentiful to the point i always had enough to kill any enemy, im not sure if this is because the melee system wouldnt have carried me through these later chapters or not but i did feel really overpowered by the end Lastly the story, I really did enjoy the story and did like the few small twists that come up in the story with Our main character Ethan. Some of it was predictable but all in all i think there was plenty to keep me interested all the way through. I loved this game and cant wait to see what the devs do next Solid 8/10 experience that could be improved with an update to the melee combat system
Saint of Chains feels like a forgotten nightmare from the early 2000s. The influences are obvious, but lovingly understood - Silent Hill, Condemned, and even traces of old Half-Life horror mods like Cry of Fear. More importantly, the game understands what made those experiences memorable: atmosphere and oppressive spaces. The environments are where the game shines most. The devil is in the details - small visual choices, sound design, lighting, and environmental storytelling create tension without relying on excessive jump scares or spectacle. There’s a genuine appreciation for horror history behind this project. There are a few rough edges, and some mechanics could use added polish, but for a two-dev horror game, the atmosphere and identity carry it strongly. It captures nostalgia in a way other recent titles haven't. If you enjoy retro psych horror and slower horror experiences, this is absolutely worth your time.
Очень рада, что выходят подобные игры. Да, пропитана референсами cry of fear/silent hill, но господи, с каким же кайфом. Может геймплейно слабовата, но как же атмосфера завозит. На пару вечеров самое оно, разработчикам респект
Very fun game so far. Dev nailed the perfect combination of Silent Hill and Cry of Fear. Game is quite spooky and I look forward to finishing it up soon. But already at just around 2 hours played I highly recommend it for survival horror fans.
