Sacred Fire: A Role Playing Game

Easy recommendation from a player who enjoyes rpgs , visual novels and choose your own adventure games Very pretty visuals, audio and music. The RPG mechanics are simple yet intuitive and while mostly percentage based have a nice sense of progression and characer evolution. Although there is a rough chain of events that you follow, there are quite a few ways to approach stuff and I have certainly had some fun with different playthroughs. Really enjoyable time with it.

This interactive "visual novel" has taken too long for someone who bought this years ago. I've never bought the first few pages of a book and then waited years for a dozen pages here and there. The game also has low-fi visuals that look generated. However, in an ocean of mindless drivel, this medieval fantasy has a more thought-provoking concept than other digital media. The redundant visuals may turn some away and the fact that a cheaper novel is more entertaining nags the mind while playing. Try it out if you need a book that paints the pictures for you. Personally I like this genre because I can relive my youth of reading Goosebumps interactive fiction.

Innovative storytelling and character development — one of the best RPGs I've experienced.

I really enjoy this game. I'm not gonna address the things that are still not working 100% since it's a game in development, so yeah, not everything is perfectly balanced etc. So like I said, I just really enjoy this game. I like the story and the historical time and place it's set in. I like how, even though it's only text, it still make me feel as if every moment matters and every choice has consequences. I like the stat building a lot. It make me feel that I could've, if only. Or it makes me feel that I succeeded, but only just. It's a fun game play that for me really works. Congrats to this solo developer! Keep it up :) *EDIT* Also, really important, I think the stat system behind the game is ingenious. It feels inspired by people like Eckhart Tolle. If you've done any quality type of therapy you'll understand that the concept behind this game is very true to human nature. The success of your dice rolls is determined by your control or lack thereof over the broad spectrum of human emotions. All the characters are guided by past trauma and pain or perceived slights and their emotions constantly guide their actions. With the main character is basically like you're doing self-therapy throughout the game, if you want to, to sort out your own primary reactions to everything that happens or other people's responses, which in turn makes it easier for you to determine how to continue. I think it's touching that the developer has spend so much time mapping humans as emotional beings into a video game. Very inspired.
