💬 Review Update (Post-Patch)
Update: The developer has patched the major game-ending bugs described in my original review. I replayed the game after the fixes and was able to complete playthroughs without the progression blockers that previously made the game unreliable.
The developer also states that the latest patch adds full controller support. I have not retested controller functionality yet, so my controller notes below reflect my earlier experience and are pending verification.
Finally, the patch added a way to check your affection level with the two main characters, which meaningfully improves route clarity.
🎮 Gameplay & Genre
Ryuu's Sin is a notable departure from earlier Male Doll titles. Instead of leaning on direct combat, this game is built around evasion and stealth, which I appreciated.
Enemies patrol predictable routes, maps are compact, and once you understand how invisibility works, you can bypass most encounters by timing movement and sprinting through danger zones. It becomes fairly easy after that realization, but the shift in focus makes the gameplay feel fresher than past Male Doll releases.
Controller support was very limited in my original playthrough. You could not remap buttons, and key actions like special skills did not function properly on controller, which forced keyboard and mouse for full functionality. The developer states the latest patch adds full controller support, but I have not personally retested it yet.
🔥 M/M Content
This is explicit bara-focused M/M content, and it commits hard to that fantasy. Body types and faces skew muscular, mature, and masculine.
If you’ve played other Male Doll titles, you already know I have taken issue with how feminine-leaning some character faces can be. That is not the case here. The men in this game read as masculine through and through, in both facial structure and overall vibe. No shade to feminine men at all, it’s just nice to see Male Doll aiming for a more rugged bara lane and nailing it.
There are two datable men with multiple endings, including bad ones, and clearly flagged consent issues (thank you for that) consistent with the darker tone. Routes and endings are now reachable following the recent patches.
The Pants Off DLC is effectively mandatory if you are here for the erotic experience. Big bara ♥♥♥♥♥ are very much on display, and without this DLC the game feels oddly incomplete for an 18+ title.
🎨 Visuals & Style
The star is the character art, and it knows it. The men are drawn to be admired first and everything else politely steps out of the way. Backgrounds and UI get the job done, but the visual priority is obvious: beefy bara bodies, masculine faces, and explicit scenes that actually deliver on the game’s premise.
It’s not trying to be a stylish indie art piece. It’s trying to be a horny bara stealth RPG, and on that front, it’s doing excellent work.
🗣️ Tone & Writing
The story goes for dark, violent, and sexually charged, and the vibe generally fits the setting. The writing does feel a bit underdeveloped at times, but route clarity has improved.
Originally, the game strongly implied an invisible affection system. Dialogue choices would note that Shion or Toru liked your response, but there was no way to verify where you stood, which made route steering feel like guesswork. The new patch adds a way to check affection levels with both characters, which makes the branching feel more readable and deliberate.
👍 Best Thing
The bara art direction, especially the masculine faces and builds, plus a welcome shift toward stealth-focused gameplay.
👎 Worst Thing
The sex scenes feel somewhat limited compared to what the setup promises. They are relatively short, and the explicit presentation is more restrained than expected, even with the Pants Off DLC. The erotic content is good, but it stops just short of feeling fully indulgent.
⭐ Final Verdict
Recommended. The technical issues that previously prevented a recommendation have been patched, routes and endings are reachable, and the new affection display makes route selection clearer. It’s not a long or groundbreaking title, but it’s a solid Male Doll outing with hot bara art and a refreshing stealth focus.
