Warning: Asset Flip!
Russian Village Simulator on Mars is an asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", PropilGames/VD Games, took the Easy Survival RPG game assets from the real developers, Easy Systems, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work. It gets worse... "Easy Survival RPG" has also been shamelessly dumped on Steam by other asset flippers apart from PropilGames/VD Games:

"Zombie Hotel", asset flipped by NifftyGameworks
"Asset Flip", asset flipped by n00dbeaver Studios
"Pirates", asset flipped by Witte Studio
"SurvivalIsLand", asset flipped by Dust Studio
"Wildstrive", asset flipped by MonsterGaze
"Survive The Island", asset flipped by PhantomCore PUBLISHING/PhantomCore Studio
"Survival Isolation", asset flipped by 10 games studios/Candy games studios
"BEACHED", asset flipped by Gradient Studios
"Matt's Project Zombies: Open World", asset flipped by Matt Sowards/Ravesta Games
"IronSurvival", asset flipped by CreativePower
Take a look for yourself... these are all exactly the same game! As sometimes happens when shady developers rip off the game demo/tutorial pack "Easy Survival RPG" in an attempt to directly get paid for Easy System's game tutorial, they throw a few more stolen/plagiarised assets on, and example of this in this asset flip is Robot Robbie, an asset the developer ripped off from the real developer, Andrei Evseev. But VD Games wants you to think they were the creator... morally bankrupt plagiarism. You can also see "Space Colonies: Other Planets" from GeorgeShachnev in there... it's just a Frankenstein's monster of stolen asset packs. The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Easy Survival RPG" is just an Unreal Marketplace complete game pack to teach people how to construct open world survival games, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game. It's just a minimum viable product, just enough to get through the non-existent quality control on Steam Direct. Not a real game. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers. Should you buy this game? Is it one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Russian Village Simulator on Mars has the almost scam-like price of $16 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. It's possible this price is either for the purpose of money laundering, or simply to prevent genuine reviews from reducing the fake "positive" review score from the fake reviews the developer paid for. Either way, this is unacceptable manipulation of the Steam store for profit. It's harmful to gamers and to genuine indie devs, because it gives indie devs a bad name. The poor quality of this game is also reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 16 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. There's enough defects and quality problems with this game that it's not worth recommending to gamers, but the unethical nature of the developer/their associates makes it completely impossible. Because this is just a fake game/cash grab scam, and due to the sheer unethical nature of the developer, you should avoid this completely. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from VD Games/PropilGames. Finally, I'm here to try help save gamers time and money by filtering out the noise and substandard games... there's up to 50 games launched on Steam Direct every day! They aren't all great... most of them suck. If you don't agree with my assessment of the defects in this game, go ahead and buy it... maybe you'll find the same defects I did, maybe not. Even write your own review. Positive or negative, game reviews are here to help other gamers by informing their decisions on what to buy and play.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
The title is more exciting than the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FataVVnhYPc Steam Recommendations YouTube TikTok
Russian Village Simulator on Mars, developed by VD Games and PropilGames and published by VD Games, is a game that immediately captures attention through its unusual premise alone. It takes the grounded, often nostalgic routines of rural village life and places them in the unlikely setting of Mars, creating a contrast that defines the entire experience. Instead of leaning heavily into science fiction, the game focuses on familiar, almost old-fashioned activities—farming, tending animals, building homes—and reframes them within an alien environment. This blend of the ordinary and the absurd gives the game a distinct identity that sets it apart from more conventional simulation titles. At its core, the game functions as a sandbox life simulator with light survival elements. Players are responsible for establishing a functioning settlement, gathering resources, crafting tools, and maintaining the needs of both themselves and their villagers. Much of the gameplay revolves around routine tasks: planting crops, collecting materials, fishing, and expanding the village piece by piece. These activities are simple in design but form the backbone of the experience, creating a steady rhythm that emphasizes gradual progress over dramatic change. The game encourages players to settle into these routines, turning repetition into a form of quiet engagement rather than a flaw—at least initially. One of the more interesting aspects of the game is how it approaches its setting. Despite being on Mars, the environment often feels less like a hostile frontier and more like a backdrop for traditional village life. The Martian landscape provides a sense of scale and isolation, but it rarely introduces mechanics that significantly alter how you play. Instead, the focus remains on recreating a cultural lifestyle in an unusual location. This choice gives the game a unique tone, blending subtle humor with a surprisingly calm and almost meditative atmosphere. The sandbox nature of the game allows for a fair amount of freedom in how players approach their settlement. You can focus on agriculture, resource gathering, or simply exploring the surrounding areas at your own pace. There is no strict structure forcing you in a particular direction, which makes the experience feel open-ended and flexible. However, this freedom also highlights one of the game’s main limitations: while there are many activities to engage with, they often lack depth. The systems governing farming, crafting, and resource management are relatively basic, and they do not evolve significantly over time. As a result, the gameplay loop can begin to feel repetitive once the initial novelty wears off. Exploration adds some variety, but it is somewhat limited by the design of the world. While the environment is large enough to support the game’s systems, it can feel sparse, with few dynamic events or surprises to keep players engaged over extended sessions. The idea of surviving and building a life on Mars suggests a level of challenge and unpredictability, but the game leans more toward a relaxed, low-pressure experience. This makes it accessible and easy to engage with, but it also reduces the sense of tension that might otherwise enhance the survival aspect. Visually, the game reflects its indie origins, with simple models and environments that prioritize functionality over detail. While the presentation is not particularly polished, it effectively communicates the game’s concept, especially in how it contrasts rustic village elements with the alien Martian setting. There is a certain charm in this simplicity, even if it does not leave a strong visual impression. The tone of the game is one of its more appealing qualities. It does not take itself too seriously, and there is an underlying sense of humor in the idea of maintaining a traditional village lifestyle on another planet. At the same time, it embraces a slower, more reflective pace, encouraging players to enjoy the process rather than rush toward objectives. This makes it particularly well-suited for players who prefer relaxed, routine-driven gameplay. However, the game’s current state also reflects its ongoing development. While it offers a solid foundation with a variety of systems already in place, there is a noticeable lack of refinement and depth in certain areas. It feels like a project with a strong concept that has not yet fully matured, leaving room for future updates to expand and improve its mechanics. Ultimately, Russian Village Simulator on Mars is a game that succeeds primarily because of its originality and tone. It offers a unique blend of simulation and sandbox gameplay that can be enjoyable in short sessions, particularly for players who appreciate slower-paced experiences. However, its limited depth, repetitive systems, and lack of long-term progression prevent it from reaching its full potential. In the end, it stands as a charming but uneven experience—one that delivers on its quirky premise but struggles to maintain engagement over time. For the right audience, it can be relaxing and entertaining, but it remains a niche title with clear limitations. Rating: 7/10
