Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland

Wäre bestimmt ein gutes Spiel - wenn man es auch vernünftig ohne Controller spielen könnte. Tastatur Steuerung nur beschränkt verfügbar und somit so gut wie unspielbar.

Yeah, well neither do I because sadly a Rugrats game was not released back then, not even a bootleg as far as I know. But that all changed in 2024 and now we have a pretty good Rugrats platformer on NES, as well as modern platforms. In this video I review the NES version quite thoroughly and also mention the modern overhaul as well. Hope you all enjoy this one!

90s baby's gotta do, what a 90s baby gotta do! I am surprised this game didn't get much traction or sales, since it has the iconic Rugrats branding. Being a fan who grew up with the show, and a big Mario fan this game to me was something special. It is a competent Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) / Doki Doki Panic clone. It is a short game. In fact very short, I beat twice on Baby and Big Kid difficulty in around 4 hours. I still think it is a fun game even if short in length, very difficult in some areas, especially the final level. I just wish the game had a lot more content. There is a NES Rom in the game folder that you can use to play on an emulator if you wanted to which is a neat little extra included.

Fun little NES style game that you can finish in under 3 hours. Not too difficult, but some levels can put up a decent challenge. Fun for any Rugrats fan.

[h1] the controls are SUPER janky [/h1] no matter how I play (keyboard/controller/SteamDeck) or what I play on (I have the same issue/s on my Nintendo Switch Lite too)

เกมที่ดัดแปลงจากการ์ตูนสุดคลาสสิกของ Nickelodeon หวนคืนสู่เกมแนวแพลตฟอร์มยุค '80 ที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากเกมระดับตำนานอย่าง Super Mario Bros. 2 (หรือ Super Mario USA) เล่นเป็นเหล่าเด็กรักแรทส์ที่มีความสามารถต่างกันไป บางคนกระโดดสูง บางคนมีพละกำลังมากกว่างี้ ผจญภัยไปตามด่านต่างๆภายในบ้าน พบเจอกับเหล่าศัตรูและบอสหน้าตาอันแสนคุ้นเคย อาทิเช่น Big Baby Boy ในฝันร้ายของแองเจลิก้า จากการ์ตูนตอนนึง ตัวเกมมีระดับง่าย ไปจนถึงยาก ซึ่งถ้าว่ากันตามตรงระดับพวกนี้ไม่ได้ทำให้ด่านยากขึ้นสักเท่าไหร่ เพียงแต่ว่าในแต่ละระดับจะลดทอนตัวละครลงไปเท่านั้น ก็อย่างเช่น.. ระดับง่าย จะมีจำนวนชีวิตไม่จำกัด ถ้าตายแล้วเกิดใหม่ได้เรื่อยๆ และสามารถเลือกสลับตัวละครระหว่างอยู่ในฉากเพื่อผ่านด่านง่ายๆ ส่วนระดับปกติจะมีจำนวนชีวิตให้ นอกนั้นก็เหมือนเดิม และระดับยากเลือกเล่นเป็นตัวละครได้แค่ตัวเดียว ซึ่งถ้าตายแล้วจะขึ้น Game Over ทันที ความยาวเกมนั้นอาจจะสั้นไปหน่อย เพราะแนวทางเกมคือตามยุคเกมตลับมาเลย หลายคนอาจมองว่าไม่คุ้มกับราคาเต็ม จะรอซื้อตอนลดก็ได้ล่ะนะ พูดถึงยุคเกมตลับ.. ตัวเกมสามารถสลับไปใช้กราฟิกเป็น NES ได้ด้วยนะ หรือก็คือการฟิก 8-bit ที่เหมือนหลุดมาจากเกมเก่าของ Famicom นั่นเอง

Greatest Game Ever!

Yes, BUT you'd probably want to wait for a sale. Note: I only played the 8-bit version, so anything I say will reflect that mode. A very fun platformer. Outside of two rooms that gave me a surprising amount of trouble, it's fairly easy. The movement feels nice, the graphics are incredibly cute, the music is great. It's fairly short for the price tag however. It feels like a homage to NES platformers. A little bit of inspiration from Castlevania, Mario 2 (USA), Mega Man, that sorta thing.

While this is a very short game it a fun one. The main game is deceptively easy so when the game finally rams up the difficulty at the end, it hits you like a old NES game. If I had a complain, I with the "HD" version had a zoomed out mode, since the game was clearly designed to be 8-bit first and it's hard to tell where it's safe to jump.

The Good: This is a solid retro 2d platformer, that appears to take bits of inspiration from games like Super Mario Bros. 2 or Ducktales for NES. You can choose to take on several stages in any order you like, which a nice touch for players who like the freedom of choice. Each of these levels has a boss battle at the end, which are all references to Rugrats, and each fight is pretty fun. There's actually quite a lot of different references, which should satisfy fans of the series. Level design in this game is not perfect, but pretty solid overall. The game also gives you two art style options: an NES-style retro look, or a visual style that looks very similar to the series itself, further adding to the variety of the game. The Not-So Good: The game has some enemies that respawn almost immediately, which can frustrate some players. Also, enemy placements in some areas are occasionally in frustrating spots, which can also frustrate some players. Overall, this is a solid 2d platformer with fun gameplay, and enough references to entertain Rugrats fans.
