For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
A fox, a monkey, a cat and a flying squirrel meet up in an inn..
This game really hearkens back to the SNES-era where mascot platformers were all the rage. Kemono Heroes takes that early 90s console magic and seasons it with a heavy dose of asian flair and what you get is an arcade adventure for up to four players each taking control of a diverse cast of characters to defeat the vengeful moon spirit threatening to encase the world in marble (or something similar). The story is told in cutscenes and, to be honest, made little sense to me, but I can confirm it relates to ancient warrior spirits, a weird thing on/in the moon and an ancient order of nuns/monks? Despite the lack of insight I found the lore quite intriguing, and even though the overall story might be something lost in a cultural limbo. On top of that I greatly enjoyed the different styles of the more commonly encountered enemies in these kinds of games. The graphics are lovely and really reminds me of the best games of the console era with its vibrant colour schemes and plenty of details to get lost in. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3515674938 You have one main attack and begin with an endless supply of kunai to throw at your enemies. During your adventure you acquire new abilities as well as a friendly merchant at which you may upgrade your arsenal, magic and life to make the game easier. The gameplay is smooth and with the right amount of challenge. On top of that you have a varied roster of heroes who all have a different ability to abuse the rules of the game. For example the cat can climb, and thus alleviate plenty of the platforming challenges, and the squirrel simply flies/glides. All in all the variation added replayability to the base game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3515675713 However.. And this might be a slight spoiler, so read on in your own accord.
Half-way into the game you encounter the moonspirits on the surface of the moon, and after a fierce battle you kind of get encased in moon-marble and looses the fight. This ends up being a restart of sorts in which you play through all the previous stages but with harder moon-touched enemies that range from a nuisance to a really pain in the behind.. I do not mind games reusing assets, but this was more or less the same game played though twice with a slight ramp in difficulty. Some of the bosses were changed, but not all. So yea, have that in mind.
Conclusion: Besides my critique concerning the “happening”, Kemono Heroes is a solid title and a great callback to the arcade couch co-ops of old. I really enjoyed the artstyle and the various heroes played just enough differently that it deserves a replay. This is a perfect game to invite a few friends, chug some tea and just enjoy good old retro gaming at its finest. If retro action platformers is your thing, Kemono Heroes is a solid choice!
Kemono Heroes is a short and challenging 2D Action Platformer with arcade graphics and gaming style. It's about your village where everyone got turned into a stone statues and your mission is to venture and remove the curse and restore back peace. The game offers 1-4 Co-op gaming or single player mode as well. The screen is filled with enemies that attack you from almost every direction and you have to fight your way through each stage and reach the end of it to proceed. There are a total of 4 worlds with 3 stages each. The controls are very solid and didn't face any single bug during my playthrough which was amazing due to the number of enemies on screen. You can get overwhelmed quickly if you're not timing your attacks or reacting quickly enough which can be challenging but as well push your limits. The difficulty starts to spike as you head into further level worlds. The music was engaging and fun to listen to. There are shops where you can buy health, ninpo upgrades as well as strengthen your weapons. The boss weren't very challenging however the more you play into the game, more stuff will get revealed which will keep you hooked as you progress your way through. This is a very recommended 2D Action Platformer especially if you love that arcade style old school vibe. Overall Rating 10/10
I loved this game on Nintendo Switch, especially when playing local multiplayer with friends. It’s an incredibly fun and visually charming experience, featuring beautifully crafted pixel art environments. The gameplay strikes a perfect balance between challenge and accessibility, making it ideal for players of all skill levels. However, I couldn't miss the chance to enjoy it on PC as well!
solid game, good kemonos
This is a fast-paced action game with a fantastic feel. The dash and jump mechanics reminds me of Mega Man X in a good way (especially with the cat character that can wall climb). The music and pixel art are impressive, blending seamlessly with the overall game atmosphere. On the other hand, the multiplayer brings a nostalgic vibe, got me back to these days playing with my brothers on the same tiny screen. It's packed with moments that make you want to shout at your friends while sharing lots of laughs at the same time. I think it has a rasonable price and completely worth it.
Nothing beats being a cute ninja flying squirrel throwing kunais at angry chubby snakes.
It's such a fun game, especially in co-op! It's hard to find a couch co-op game for up to 4 players, especially with such charming and interesting characters. They all have their unique play-style and the art as well as the setting hits me right in my Japan-loving heart. If you want to have heroic adventures with your friends and family while fighting creatures from Japanese folklore, this game is for you! Highly recommended, thank you for bringing it Steam.
I played the whole game already on Nintendo Switch. Great fun, alone or with 4 players in local multiplayer mode. My son and wife really liked it too, it was fun to play with them. Great music in the game, makes the game even more fun. Definitely recommended, play with friends at your house. Also, you can play it multiple times on different difficulty levels or with new characters.
Fast paced retro action game. Perfect with friends and for the small timeslots you may find during the otherwise busy everyday life.
