Royal Bounty HD is a fantasy RPG in the feel of the great old 1990 King's Bounty. You control a hero to gather gold and armies, level up and upgrade your stats, and complete quests across a huge map with 4 continents.

Always wanted to play this and finally did, the Heroes of Might and Magic 1/2 looks paired with King's Bounty like gameplay drew me in. And while the game has some promising aspects, it still lacks a lot of other things. The original content is worth noting but ultimately the game has sadly been abandoned as the developer doesn't work on it anymore (I wrote them an email to which they replied rather quickly). A shame since there are a bunch of minor bugs and typos but also ways to soft lock your game easily if you don't blindly just follow the very next step of your quests. I loved the different approach compare to the source material although the balancing was off and managing creatures was a bit of a chore, an actual tutorial would have been nice so I wouldn't have had to juggle creatures if I had known I could place units in observation tower earlier in the game. The game was still relatively fun, the challenges were sometimes non-existant and sometimes a bit heavy. All in all I thought with a bit proper guidance and money the devs could have made something really incredible but that apparently won't happen any time soon if ever. I will cherish the looks and probably forget about the rest. Too bad though, really wished there was more to this.

Plusy :

Olbrzymi świat, rozbudowana fabuła i alternatywne zakończenia
Minusy :

Proletění hry v easy módu a pak nějak chybí důvod to hrát znovu.... Kdyby hra neslibovala to co nemá... Asi bych ji i doporučil... Achievements not working.

Back in the day in the time before touchphones and even before smartphones there were PPC — pocket personal computers. Some dudes came together, ripped sprites from HoMM2 (that's why their sprites are in the stretched aspect ratio, because of DOS' 16 by 10) and assembled their own clone game for PPCs. It was called Pocket Heroes and was sold through SMS and shareware. Over the years they were constantly tinkering with it, porting to smartphones and then touchphones. It changed its name to Palm Heroes and then to Palm Kingdoms. Despite there being Palm Kingdoms 2 and Palm Kingdoms 2 HD Deluxe (absolutely erect) it is still the same ship of Theseus. They were slowly replacing the stolen sprites with more and more of their own re-draws. And they were slowly tinkering with a full singleplayer campaign. And it seems that very campaign was cut out into its own separate game, with most but still not all stolen sprites replaced. First it was sold as Royal Bounty and then as Royal Bounty HD. It is kinda a King's Bounty type game, but as it was based on HoMM 2 it doesn't exactly play like either of them. The mobs are stationary and there's like only two enemy heroes in the game, but it still counts day-turns. Because it uses it for income and enemy growth. Every turn all the units in the entire game get stronger, so the only way to not get overwhelmed is to rush it like hell, and retry every battle to have minimal losses. The rates are absolutely demented and the game goes into severe power creep even on the easiest. There are some ways to combat it, which makes them basically mandatory. The first goal is to get master earth magic and mass slow, after which you can pelt the enemies of the first island with archers. The second stage is to defeat the first enemy hero, get peasants and upgrade them to gold-bringing peasants, to get as many archers as possible and upgrade them all too. Yet, even with this cash avalanche the neutral unit growth is extremely fast. The second isle will already be outpacing your archers. If you got to the level 20 without leaving the first isle, by attacking the wolves, etc. You can start accumulating the classic Heroes 2 ghosts — each killed enemy replenishes their ranks. The third island is already out of control, but also it gives you the starter ghosts to grow them fast. In some sense this is a separate island not tied to your army. After you finish with the local goal, you lose the ghosts, and are given a giant army. But that army is nothing. The fourth island has outpaced you so much, that it is beatable only with ghosts. It also has no quests to speak of and has a pretty dull design of a corridor with treasure room guarded by out of control enemy units. And nothing of this matters anyway, because the fifth chapter is an adventure game. And all three endings are basically an adventure game too. All you bad or good decisions do not matter just follow the plot and solve the puzzles. Only the first chapter feels like a KB-type game. The third basically resets the game, but it still can be played in an engaging manner. The rest of the game goes entirely out of hand, the enemy growth outpaces you so much, that no matter how much cash you have, you have to have a big stack of ghosts if you are not a speedrunning tactical genius. But then the devs basically wrote a solution for the game, pointing out all the needed strategies and some secrets. So it's fine. It's okay. Not some genius design with extra-tight balance, but it is beatable and offers some of that KB tactical combat gameplay. All the achievements are broken.
