About
The world has fallen into chaos, and it’s up to you and your friends to battle the corrupted beasts that threaten your home. Choose your weapon, upgrade your gear, sharpen your skills, and get ready to take on the frenzied foes of Rotwood!
Surviving Rotwood is no easy task. You’ll need practice, strategy, and refined combat skills to tackle the game’s toughest encounters.
Featuring rich and varied combat mechanics, play solo or co-op with up to three friends, fighting increasingly challenging encounters as you battle your way through 8 unique locations.
Rotwood focuses on combat mastery and gear progression to defeat enemies that you once thought impossible.
Pick your target carefully and sharpen your skills as you face increasingly difficult encounters. Battle your way through deceptively vicious rots in search of your true foe, a powerful, corrupted boss battle that will put your abilities to the test.
Experiment with various gear combinations and refine and perfect your build to best make use of these strange powers. However, true success comes from skill, adaptability, and strategy.
Button mashing and decent gear will only get you so far. Practice and perfect combo attacks for each weapon type to reach your destructive potential. Discover and upgrade different weapons and armor to further enhance your combat effectiveness.
Master a variety of weapons or specialize in the one that suits you best. Each weapon type offers its own distinct combat style and benefits. Get in close to smash, slam, pierce, or hang back and blast your foes from a distance.
Boss fights are not just a test of strength but also a test of skill. Each boss has unique attack patterns and mechanics, requiring careful analysis of their weaknesses and precise mastery of your weapons to tackle Rotwood's toughest foes. Victory grants you unique loot required to face ever-increasing challenges as you progress through the game!
While every run offers different powers and abilities, progression is built on skill and mastery rather than randomness. Through practice and proficiency, you’ll learn to take down increasingly formidable foes more effectively with greater efficiency and precision.
The challenges ahead may be unpredictable, but your fate is not. While Rotwood has elements of randomness, true mastery comes from skill, adaptability, and precise execution, not luck.

Jeu incroyable en coop
Rushed slop. This game spent years in early access to only add very small QOL changes and a farming minigame nobody asked for. They did add only 2 additional bosses since the release of early access (years ago) and they really didn't add much to the game, just the usual "dodge-attack-dodge" gameplay this game was already starting to feel stale with. I've seen more content pushed out by solo devs, and said solo devs have never pulled a curtain like this "shadow release" or whatever they want to call their abandonment of this project. Truly a shame, I always assumed they were cooking behind the scenes, but this stunt they pulled should be your advertisement to never buy a Klei product again. At least it was for me. Edit: they deleted their Reddit page too, which is further proof that they wanted to rush this out the door with the least amount of backlash. A pretty pathetic thing to do to the supporters of your game.

Klei's pumping out bangers like a full-auto shotgun. Well done, fellas!
The artstyle and animations are godly, the style perfectly conveying the whimsy of the set up, and going around and fighting in it is such a simple pleasure to enjoy. A wide variety of different unique builds, some pieces of gear adding something completely new, while some connecting to allow you to experience something familiar and constant as well, depending on what you'd prefer at any time. The fighting mechanics reward you for putting in effort and memorizing techniques, rather than just doing combos over and over again like most games would, you actually feel like wielding a weapon, as there are quite a few different ways to put it to use (except the bow that one's kinda boring). There is a slight issue with making the most effective way of playing a boring one, by which is just spamming easy attacks safely, given it is far more important to not get damage rather than getting damage in, however; even though one could ignore that and make it harder on themselves on purpose to have more fun, but one shouldn't have to. On top of that, some enemies have too high a travel speed, especially when they begin to fill up the screen, locked onto your position just a quarter of a second before hitting, resulting in some battles just being you running away from enemies chasing you down and covering the entire screen in damage hitboxes, leaving you little opportunity to fight back, which is very lame. There is very little use to the heavy class compared to the lighter ones too. The game definitely has its issues that may never be fixed, but it's definitely still worth it. Always loved it when weapons and armor and gear could be made out of vanquished enemies, making me feel resourceful and giving the most practical explanation for the gear's existence and its effects. You get to make your own cozy little camp and fill it with fun little characters too, which is a nice tiny break. Offers plenty of gameplay for many hours especially for ones who enjoy grinding for upgrading gear, and being able to do it in multiplayer is also a huge bonus for many. The style of the effects and animations is satisfying and very clear too, making the gameplay feel smooth and surefooted. Amazing game, highly recommend it. Well this is an edit. All it took for me to change my opinion 180 degrees is an frankly outstanding lack of common sense regarding difficulty balancing. I seriously doubt the developers actually tested out their new inbued bosses but as it stands right now, they are essentially inaccessible. One battle expects you to finish it fast enough before the map itself turns against you to guarantee damage which you cannot even outskill, not that you could do much about the damage you COULD dodge, since the entire map is filled with it, and on top of it all, attacks are not telegraphed properly. It wouldn't even matter how many bonuses you stack up and grind for your character, because at the end of the day you don't do enough damage fast enough and can't take enough damage; and on top of THAT, even if you could, you wouldn't get to due to having to constantly run away if you can manage that. I highly recommend not buying the game, as a result. What a disappointment :( I feel like I am being made fun of and laughed at. If common sense comes to the minds of the devs and they adjust the numbers, I'll change the review back, but as it stands, the game doesn't function fully despite being advertised as such. It's best you do not buy it.
