Reviews
This game has come a long way since it's early playtest days. Pros: - The amount of bosses. You finish the first playthrough and realise that's not all. Every stage has multiple bosses keeping you entertained. - Leaderboard. You finally defeat the run and feel accomplished. Only to find that some schmuck is already difficulty level 5. Then that makes you wanna play the game even more. - Legendary items. They are all unique and it makes you wanna upgrade chances of getting them. - And the usual variety of weapons and blessings. And the different vibes each map has. Cons: - None. The dev is my husband and I want to continue my happy married life thanks.
A passion project made by a single developer over 6 years. Build variety is really fun and rewarding, and the enemy design is TOP NOTCH. Stamp of SMR approved (Super Mega Recommended)

Having spent some more time with the game, having completed 2 story mode runs and a couple of challenge maps, I'm revising my prior review: If you are looking for your next action roguelite obsession, skip Rogue Blight. While the game deserves credit for its stunning visual art, atmosphere, with enemy and boss designs that genuinely look fantastic, and clear passion from the developer, the core gameplay loop is far too shallow to justify its price tag when compared to heavyweights in the genre. The Core Flaws Bland Combat: The moveset is painfully basic. You are restricted to upward/downward slashes as basic attack, low-range wand projectiles when using wands, a meh jump, and a dash. There are no cool combos or dynamic movesets or even just heavy attacks. Combat ultimately boils down to spamming attack and hitting the dodge button on time. Zero Build Variety: Every "build" is just matching your weapon's scaling stat to the corresponding armor set (e.g., dagger with dexterity armor, sword with strength armor). Status effects like poison, freeze, and bleed exist, but feel largely meaningless. They're just a thing that passively happens while you mash buttons. Absence of Synergies: The entire appeal of a roguelite is finding wild, overpowered synergies to annihilate enemies. Rogue Blight has none. You just use whatever the game hands you. Get some dex armor early? You're doing a dex run. There's no hybird gear or anything either for like a sick spellsword build or something. You could of course go and use 2 different armor sets, but that would ultimately just gimp your dmg. Awkward Abilities: Skills don't use stamina and don't interrupt stamina regen, but are also not all that useful or cool, meaning they are basically just filler buttons to press when your stamina bar is empty but still have time to sneak in another hit or two. Skill or spell-focused builds simply do not exist. Sluggish Telegraphs & Uninspired Bosses: The early game is a slog purely because enemies take forever with their endlessly drawn-out telegraphs. Meanwhile, late-game bosses don't get any cool, engaging movesets either; especially the final boss more or less devolves into a bullet hell of random projectiles of all sorts rather than cool moves that fit with her aesthetic. Stale Enemy Patterns: Enemies seem follow the exact same predictable pattern every single time. There are no mix-ups or varied movesets, except for the ocasional enemy that can dash to you if you move away too far. Seemingly useless Challenge Maps & Impactless Gear: The challenge maps encountered were only one act long, making it hard to see why you would run them over a full 3-act story run even with the bonus currency rewards for completing it. As for boss-soul starting gear, while they do at least keep their stat bonuses active even when unequipped, they ultimately feel meaningless because their actual impact is so negligible, just like the skills really. It's all just kinda "number go up" instead of actually having different playstyles. The Verdict Rogue Blight feels fine as a basic solo/ small team indie title, but it suffers immensely from the competition. For just a few dollars more, or even cheaper on sale, you can pick up masterpieces like Hollow Knight, Slay the Spire, or action roguelites like Dead Cells or Curse of the Dead Gods (3 dollars sale at the time of writing) that offer infinitely deeper combat, meaningful build variety, and satisfying synergies. Save your money and play those instead. The art is lovely, but it isn't enough to carry a game where the actual gameplay falls this flat. P.s. I do hope this review, while negative, will be seen as feedback and can help improve the game.
Запустил и залип на 10 часов сходу! В игре есть все, чего я желал. Это натурально Salt and Sanctuary + Roguelite механики.
This game is great for the first couple hours. But fighting the same bosses every single run, and each one takes forever to get to, gets tedious. I think fighting the same bosses isn’t necessarily bad i.e. Hades- but with Rogue Blight the bosses just aren’t good and very boring after the first 3 times you beat them. There’s not enough rogue like elements or build variety to make this stand out. It gets VERY tedious and grindy. Having to spend 40+ fungi(currency) for mid level ups, when after a run you maybe have 100, that grind is something I’m not excited to push through. I don’t mind grinding in a game like Hades, but this game really gives me little to push through and look forward to the grind. My MAIN gripe with this game is it does not have the potential for longevity like other roguelikes. And no, this game isnt hard, its difficult, sure, but thats not the issue. It just gets redundant after a few hours. A good roguelike keeps me engaged for hundreds of hours. This just doesn't do that. Oh, and the teleporting enemies and bosses are so broken and stupid, I have to include that as a negative as well. This specific boss teleports every 2 seconds. Then I die to a later teleporting boss. Knowing I have to grind back to that teleporting boss, To get to another teleporting boss…. Nahhhh I’m good.
Souls like combat, Slay the Spire inspired map progression, Salt and Sanctuary esthetics... There are countless reasons to pick it up. In case somehow they are not resonating with you, it is still worth giving a shot simply because its a quality product made with high care and conviction.
First Impressions
This game is so much better than I thought it would be. I've had Rogue Blight wishlisted since 2024 and briefly played the demo a couple times. I chose to not keep playing the demo because I just wanted this game to feel new when it officially dropped. I'm so glad I waited and it was worth it. In the most literal sense this is a Souls-Roguelite in which it plays much like a souls game with the gameplay and meta progression of a roguelite. I feel that this game does enough to differentiate itself from other games within both of these genres in a tasteful way. Since this is a first impressions, I can only give a limited perspective of the game but I still want to highlight some things that stood out to me and address a couple negative reviews that are just blatantly misleading. This game is awesome and I hope more people give it a shot.
Build Crafting
In my first 4 hours I've managed to experiment a lot with build crafting and it's as deep as you want it to be. There's a nice variety of builds that range from strength, dexterity, and intelligence and hybrids between those archetypes. My only gripe here is that there's no bows which is such a missed opportunity. There's a boss that uses a bow attack so I'm hopeful that can be added in the future. So far Strength is for swords and shields, Dexterity is for daggers, and Intelligence is for wands. Each of these stat types will boost attributes that'll benefit the associated weapon type. Each piece of armor you find allocates attribute points depending on what archetype it's for. You can mix and match these and come up with hybrid builds. At one point I found multiple legendary armors and built a tanky mage that spammed wand abilities. In no sense am I the type to play games and sit down to crunch numbers for the most optimal build, nor have I done that in this game. If you work with what the RNG gives you and make good choices, you'd be surprised with what you come up with.
Meta Progression
The early meta progression is pretty brutal because you don't have the game knowledge nor mechanical skill nor metaprogression to make a dent in a run. If you can bare through this early game difficulty, you'll be glad you pushed through. I wish this aspect was a bit easier but I can see some more hardcore players enjoying this aspect of the game and why this may turn others away. Once you've played a few runs you can start allocating Fungi for permanent upgrades. There's a lot of options here such as max health, upgrade potions, improved starter weapons, etc. You also get another currency for defeating bosses which lets you start a run with armors that grant bonuses that last for the duration of that run. I like the added control here for improved starts to a run but I've yet to see anything that let's you manipulate RNG into giving you particular sets of items for a given run.
Bosses
The bosses are an ego check because they'll humble you and send you straight into oblivion if you aren't careful. I thought this was going to be an aspect of the game that'd filter me out but I quickly realized that each boss was carefully created in a way that choreographs their attack patterns. This made me change my approach to every boss fight and I started to quickly learn each boss's moveset and that was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in this game so far. A lot of the time I just end up hating the bossing aspect of roguelites and I absolutely love it in Rogue Blight.
Skill Issue
I'm convinced the negative reviews here are just pure rage bait. One negative review states the game is repetitive, it's literally a roguelite? The same review mentions "every build is the same" which is a blatant lie. There's 3 stat archetypes you can build with which are Dexterity, Strength, and Intelligence. So far in my 4 hours I've had some pretty OP builds with each archetype and they all play significantly different from one another. Anyone that complains about build variety is literally just bad at the game or just doesn't know how to make good choices when given options. I saw another review complaining about having to 'run through the area and fight all the same bosses again' and that just is pure skill issue. After you complete a run you unlock a new difficulty tier which comes with new bosses with the addition of 'maps' which you can find within proceeding runs and complete them for rewards. That same review is mentioning complaints about bosses being designed poorly which makes me question if they even know what how to play video games. Every boss has a set of choreographed moves that are unique to them. When you first encounter bosses, you'll obviously not know their moveset nor how to deal with them but in no shape or form do I feel that any of these bosses are designed poorly. This is a game that requires mechanical skill and good decision making and it's pretty clear that people will struggle with either or both of those things.
It's ok nothing more nothing less, gets repetitive really fast, it's fun for the first couple of hours where you keep unlocking new bosses and weapons but after that it becomes stale, i was also expecting to be able to do "broken" builds but every upgrade in this game it's just you attack a little faster, you spend less stamina/mana, +1 dmg +1 stats and that's about it, there's no excitement in actually trying different builds since they are all the same.
