Anything made by Norb is great! Just wish he could update Second Manassas Take Command
Norb did right by deleting the dlc and getting people their refunds - and the price was right for this version. I love this game, I wish they would update some of the menus, but I love it nonetheless just like I did when it came out. I've been to Gettysburg several times and I know these places and names and Norb and team continue to let people know what happened in those days of July 1863. Norb - I'm a long time lurker in your forums/fan of your work. Thanks for everything.
What a disapointment. On 1080p 60Mhz 12 FPS on the 1st tutorial Map 5 FPS on Gettyburg Map 1 Tinklering with the Settings was fruitless... Remaster???? more like an i386/40 Emulator! The old GB Version from my Matrix Account runs with 30 - 50 FPS ASUS 1150 LGA B85M-E Xeon E3-1231 V3 @ 3.6 Ghz / Turbo 3.8 Ghz 24 GB DD3 RAM Nvidia RTX 2060 12 GB OC Edition Internal SSD 1050 MB/s Windoof !0 Pro
Excellent game. I've been playing g them since 1st Manassas and this is the best one for me. I wonder if they are going to release Antietam, Friedericksburg, Chancellorsville maps, scenarios and OOBs. I remember having installed those at one point but I dont know how to get them or if they will release them again at some point.
If you like total war battles… this one is for you, except its so much deeper. You see wounded, missing in action, actual death...... The toll you take on the enemy and the toll they take on you. Moral matters more than ever, an keep your boys well supplied, give them breaks (after 15 volleys it’s understandable😂). You see where regimental quality actually matters,…… are they volunteers (ok, they have national spirit tho) state millia (bad, will rout at first opportunity) regulars (good, have had at least 6months training, probably witnessed a battle or two) or veterans which are very attuned to battlefields and good friends dying every so often 🥲. Timing matters and some army groups take like 15 mins or even longer to reinforce, little things like the guns each battalion or regiment uses, who’s in charge, and where they come from. The options on what you can do is crazy, retreat and fire back.. fire and advance, volleys only or just fire at will, bayonets, lie down, hide. Remember to charge at the right time. I hope the devs make more games aswell as I genuinely believe this game isn’t getting the attention It deserves and that’s a real shame. So many people I’ve already told about and tried, they get lost in the sauce aswell haha. The scale is vast and is a 1:1 of soldiers and battlefield map. It does require some AI fixing, men not shooting when ordered to and maybe an outdated engine but the essence of it all still holds up. Would highly recommend this game. The devs are good people and are trying to bring life and a new community/new audience to this classic. I wish them the best, there use to be a rebels and redcoat mod for this back in the day, hope to see it returned. Much love god bless. Ps. I wish cav could get a revamp, they do feel pointless at times and are very much locked out gameplay wise. They can scout and harass the enemy but it’s the same with waterloo game, but cav matters more then. In the Waterloo one, there is legit 10s of thousand of men fighting it out in all different parts of the map. Entire cavalry cores fighting it out in the open. Insanity...
This game has potential. Unfortunately, you cannot progress through the different scenarios because the scores are not saved and do not display. I am a bit disappointed. I hope this problem gets fixed soon.
Been playing this GEM for a long time, really can't get this experience from anywhere else. The only negative I have is the "Remastered" part to me at least is not at the level of the asking price yet, but they are still working on it.
Just like the Original, with better graphics! If you liked the Original and don't have the CD gt this one!!!
Great game, really unique. I have the original version and the remaster is definitely a big step up, looking forward to more updates and the DLC.
Scourge of War Gettysburg is that one game that no matter what I'll always go back to. It plays just like I remember it did so many years ago. Grand Tactician Civil War, scratched the itch but never fully satisfied me.
