Rivers of Astrum: Daughter of Darkness

Not much game here yet but very interesting for what we have. Good characters, well rendered, interesting story. a little to wordy but not bad. This has a lot of potential and for the current price, worth it in my opinion. Keep at it, developer, think you got a winner.

I love the RPG:ish feel this has. Sure the voice actors are not all top notch but somehow even that grew on me to the point I liked it. Brutal choice in one moment really gave brutal scenes. The story delivers and I will eagerly await the next part of the story in coming updates. This game is not animation heavy, but more image based with transitions. It could have more animated scenes which I hope they'll add in the future.

I have been following the development of this for a while now, mostly on the developer's SubStar/Patreon and Discord. I am also one of the beta testers, so I will try not to be too biased. You like pirates? You like lesbians? Play this game. The characters are developing well, the story is compelling and well written. It is exciting, mysterious, sexy and above all very playable. You will fall in love with at least 2 of the characters (Kim and Cara), and you will really enjoy the others. There's some great humour, some great fight scenes, very nice sex scenes and beautiful looking models. There is also a talking squirrel that isn't what it seems. And then there is the voice acting. I don't like voice acting in a lot of games, it ruins the voice I have in my head, which is informed by the writing and the renders. When I first started testing this game I turned all the voices off. Big mistake. I talked for a while with Paper Tiger to understand why he would do what a lot of developers don't manage to do well. He gave it all the "I have the best voice actor!" and "You have no idea how good this is!" I was very sceptical, but as a tester you have to check it all, so I did. This is the first game of this type (for me) where this works fantastically well. Claire did an AMAZING job voicing a lot these characters. Yes, you have to wait for the dialogue to play, you can't just click through, but with the way the play is designed, with nice transitions, good music and an artistic flair to the look of it that is well in keeping with the subject matter, it is a pleasure to play it at the pace of the spoken dialogue. It is in it's early days, for sure, but I believe that the level of development will only get better as the game goes on. And the developer is very good at talking with his audience, taking the time to answer the same question time and again with patience and kindness. Good work PT! I received this game for free (as a beta tester) but have subscribed for a time and purchased the game here on Steam.

Highly recommended. For a 0.2 release, there's more than enough play time. I read slowly and pay close attention to the art, and wound up at about 3.8 hours. The story is interesting and would appear to have a lot of depth to come. Recommended for those who like a pirates/fantasy realm filled with magic and Elves. I look forward to seeing how this develops.

I found the Rivers of Astrum: DoD to be an very enjoyable fantasy AVN. Paper Tiger has done an excellent job at setting up the world and the characters. As someone who enjoys a strong story-focused AVN this one hits the marks. Certainly as early access things will continue to evolve and improve as more content is added but the current build (0.3.2) is off to a great start. The fact the voice acting is already present as well as a very well constructed game interface with features usually found after release only helps Paper Tiger to continue to build out a better experience as more content is released. Very excited to follow Kim and Co. on their journey! And of course Dee rocks. ❤️🐸
