About
“My worst fears have been realized. The damage is more extensive than previously imagined. I must act while there is still time. I must find someone… to send to Riven.”
Enter a deceptively beautiful world torn apart by age-old conflicts, where secrets lie hidden at every turn, and nothing is as it seems. Search through dense jungles, awe-inspiring caverns and monolithic structures. Use your wits and powers of observation to solve devious puzzles and find secretive characters. Only then will you learn the truth about this troubled land and its inhabitants. You must let Riven become your world— before an entire world is lost.

It's a good video game. You should play it.
Myst was an amazing and clever game, this one expects you to spend the first 2 hours purely collecting clues that you might not even know are clues yet. The clues are obtuse, requires you to repeatedly cross all over the island, and every new shortcut you gain just makes the entire map more confusing. Not to mention all the puzzles that requires you to find a tiny item or interact with a barely visible object.
What a game!! I don’t look up cheats I grind through them. It’s more satisfactory that way. It took a few years on and off. Was determined to beat it. The Myst series of five games are the best games I’ve ever played. If you’re a math nerd these are for you. Highly recommend Riven. Best so far.
An all time classic, lovingly and expertly made. Everyone should play this game
Riven was my introduction into the Myst series when I was a kid, and here I am... back at it again! Love this game!
This is an amazing game. Graphics are old but beautiful. Sound is immersive. Puzzles are fascinating and the whole game is an experience that I keep going back to again and again.
I haven’t solved a single puzzle — unless I accidentally solved one by randomly pushing buttons and pulling switches — but the environment is so soothing that I just enjoy walking around being confused.
If you haven't played it yet, better to consider the purchase of the 2025 remasterized/extended version, I would think. But...Don't get me wrong: I used to replay joyfully this original version since 1997 until 2025, without getting tired of its already amazing graphics, at the time of its release. Might be the masterpiece of the Myst saga, with slightly harder (but still well-integrated) puzzles than in its siblings. Story, landscapes, sounds & music, exploration, riddles will make you forget to eat and sleep for a long while!
