STEAM DECK SUPPORT INFORMATION
This game partially supports Steam Deck. We are aware that currently UE5 causes major lack of video memory on such devices like Steam Deck that leads to constant crash when loading the main city map. There is a temporary solution for this. If you want to play our game on Steam device, then please use the UMA Frame Buffer Size set to 2 GB in the BIOS (Advanced tab). To access Steam Deck BIOS press and hold the Volume Up (+) button. While holding Volume Up, press and release the Power button. Keep holding Volume Up button and release it when the BIOS / Setup Utility appears on screen. Then go to Advanced settings tab, select the UMA Frame Buffer Size to 2 gb (or even 4 gb in case of any trouble) and start the game. This time the game will work decently without any crashes.

As the only person who remembers Quarantine (1996) besides the devs I'll be keeping an eye on this one but it's still pretty rough in current state.
Just a quick, simple review because I was about to hit the two week mark of ownership and wanted to give this a quick play before the refund window closed to see if it was worth keeping or not. It is, but that's mostly based on potential. Amazing potential! Perhaps you remember gritty old DOS/3DO (and later PS1/Saturn) Taxi Driver-meets-Escape From New York game Quarantine? Very similar setup here. In some ways it's practically a Quarantine tribute game, particularly the taxi interior and the screen when loading into the city is nearly identical. This is the kind of stuff I love. I wish video games never got away from their B-movie roots so my enthusiasm for this project is sky high. It's not an awful game right now but it's also not one I'd play too long, it's clunky and needs optimization. The framework of a great game is here, but there's a lot of heavy lifting to do. It's already better than a lot of the garbage that gets sold on this store Early Access or not, but this is a game with big ideas and big goals so it's going to take a while to get there. Normally I don't like when people rate Early Access games on potential, so I'm being clear that I'm doing that here. At the same time there's probably $15 worth of fun here, and the developer is very clear that this game is roughly half finished and is also being sold for 40% of its expected launch price. There are so many deceptive games on this store that hide their game's actual quality in fake reviews and this game is not at all deceptive, it's just early. Hopefully they carry this cool old throwback to the finish line.
I generally do not write reviews about early access games, but this game is atrocious. By far the worst early access game I've ever played. The Taxi gets flipped over constantly, but can never reset. The controls are extremely clunky and unresponsive. I could go on and on but save your money. It does give the old Quarentine vibe, but honestly, Quarentine was 1,000 times what this game will ever be.
🕹️
Review of ‘CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights’ (Early Access)
Please note: Release date: 2 September 2025 – Early Access. Despite many issues, I don't want to give the game a negative review. ‘CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights’ throws us into the dark, exaggerated world of Prison City as taxi drivers. The game concept is charming and, with its 90s flair and arcade elements, is reminiscent of classics such as ‘Crazy Taxi’ or ‘Carmageddon’. The atmosphere is wonderfully chaotic, over-the-top and full of bizarre characters – a real indie trip with humour and style. 🚖 What I like: - Creative game idea with retro vibes - Flamboyant, exaggerated world with absurd dialogues and missions - Explosive missions and bizarre passengers 🛠️ What doesn't work (yet): - The controls feel clunky and imprecise, which is often frustrating. - Frequent lag and performance drops detract from the gaming experience. - The AI of other vehicles is weak – they drive aimlessly and cause traffic jams. - Your own taxi often gets stuck on objects and edges or bugs itself (despite the reset function). - Numerous visual bugs, e.g. flickering textures or faulty camera angles, etc. - Control issues: In several missions, I couldn't get out of the vehicle and had to quit the game. Without a working save point, this is extremely annoying. - The save-function doesn't work – you can only save automatically after completing missions - Some mission objectives are buggy: for example enemies are supposed to be there, but don't spawn - The content is currently very limited – this could lead to a lack of content for longer playing times. 📉 Conclusion: ‘CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights’ definitely has charm and potential. The idea is strong, the world is creative, and the atmosphere is fun. However, in its current early access version, the game is barely playable. The bugs and technical issues are serious and prevent a smooth experience. If the developers don't fix these issues quickly, many players could jump ship before the game reaches its full potential. 🔧 Appeal to the developers: Please keep at it! With hard work and tuning, ‘CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights’ could become a cult indie hit. But for that to happen, the technical foundation has to be right. I will keep an eye on the development and update the review when the game is in better shape. 😊
In other reviews, I wrote about how all the stuff adjacent to the core game can elevate mediocrity to excellence. The opposite is true: All the supporting assets can also lower a game into the basement. This game, this very game, is the poster child of being let down. Folks, I don't like leaving negative reviews, as a general rule. Games generally take a lot of work and parts of this look really nice. Rain-slicked streets really are moody, and that looked great. I have no idea how the car combat went, because I could not get that far. THAT is how strongly I felt about everything else in the game. I could not get to the part I bought the game for. There's a bunch of car systems that would make sense if you were super-duper-ultra into cars. A heater, which helps defrost the window. Windshield wipers (which would matter if you played in first person). A starter, though you just tap it and the engine comes on. But are we dealing with an eye towards realism? No, no we are not. I accidentally hit some pedestrian goober standing in the middle of the street, blasting off with his gun. And I bounced off him. My armed and armoured taxi bounced off a man. In another case, spun out and rolled over, though I was only doing 20 km/hr. All these fiddly in-cockpit knobs but no turn indictors. This is supposed to be a lawless city but people are pootling about on the right side of the road (pedestrians notwithstanding) and minding traffic rules. So why not turn indicators? The engine noise, though? It sounds like some tiny, sub-liter engine idling. Step on the gas and the pitch goes up, still sounds like it's idling. That engine isn't fit to run a riding lawnmower, let alone a taxi, let alone a taxi with guns. I'm not expecting this thing to sound like it's got some gas-guzzling american boat-anchor of a V8 in there, but if the car experience is so important, give me the full car experience. Engine noise is important. Even if it's an electric engine anyway. Is all this business really necessary? Is this a car sim? In the beginning zone, turning the car sharply would case it to squeal its tires. I was doing 15 km/hr and it was wet. If I somehow managed to lose grip that much, at that low of a speed, I'd expect maybe a "ksssh" noise. Certainly not tire squealing. So no, it is not a car sim. But above all else, the voice... voicing. It's not voice acting. It's the opposite of acting. Back the ♥♥♥♥ away from your microphone. Stop blowing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ plosives into it. Put some feeling into the lines, for heaven's sake! Basic stuff, my dudes. I can get you much better voice actors for the price of their name in the credits. There's one last thing: smoking. It's there. I hate it, and if you want the full monologue on why, buy me a pint or ask me on stream or something. It looks like it's just there for the hell of it, near as I can tell, and that's so stupid to me I've run out of words on the topic that aren't going to be censored. So yes, I have requested a refund, I'm not gonna lie about that. But I haven't entirely written this off yet. Should the physics be fixed, a stern look given towards weird controls, and a serious do-over and quality pass on the VO, and maybe pushing the smoking thing into the dustbin, I could be convinced to come take another look. But for now, that's too bad. I'd've loved me some first person car combat.
No, sorry, absolutely not. Calling this game "Early Access" is being very generous. It stutters like crazy on an SSD, it's not much different than the demo from last year which is fine, but the actual game isn't playable. On my 3rd fare the following video below happened making it impossible actually complete the fare or play the game further. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkSl8eH7OrE Also, I don't mean to be a prude, but the AI voice acting is very distracting. Please just hire real people.
a buggy mess avoid for atleast a year unplayable broken mechanics and its in alpha not beta
Alright for starters after the past few updates the game is handling much better performance wise. Driving does not feel too bad to me, if the camera would center one direction when changing viewpoints from first to third person in the cab would be awesome. Graphics are good and play loop is there so far, I do look forward to future updates and will continue to support. As a fan of 1996's Quarantine game and frankly was disappointed with the other version of Cyber Taxi that is available on here, so this has been fun. I intentionally waited for a few patches before buying, so I am just enjoying what's here so far. This game has a ways to go to be a finished product but what is here is playable and enjoyable to me.
