Story is centered around how the characters feel, but the motivations are weak/unclear and the "voice" (choice of words) of the characters is not useful to developing an idea of what they stand for or at times does not match with convictions, motivations or events. The gameplay is turn based, in a fireEmblem attacks are returned with a counter unless range is mismatched, however in this game the attackers turn is the attackers turn, there is no counter. Later you unlock skills/abilities and equip stat modifiers, but its farmable and free form; I would compare this to games that take into account items and levels given as you progress through an area/stage or story element that coincides with each other. Basically, there are a few core features in this game, but they need work to make them harmonize with each other to make it feel like a coherent experience.
Fajna mechanika, podobna do Fire emblem i Langlisser. Fabuła wciąga, a mapy zachęcają do powtarzania.
Rise Eterna, developed by Makee and Forever Entertainment S. A. and published by Forever Entertainment S. A., is a tactical role-playing game that clearly wears its inspirations on its sleeve. It aims to capture the spirit of classic grid-based strategy titles, evoking the structure and presentation of older genre staples while offering a streamlined, more accessible take on the formula. While it succeeds in recreating the look and basic feel of those influences, its design choices ultimately shape it into a more modest experience—one that is easy to approach but lacks the depth and refinement expected from its inspirations. The story centers on Lua, a young woman marked by tragedy and driven by a desire to uncover the truth about her past. As she journeys through a war-torn land alongside her companion Natheal and a growing group of allies, the narrative attempts to balance personal drama with a broader political conflict. There are moments where character interactions hint at emotional depth, particularly in how relationships develop within the group, but the storytelling often struggles with consistency. Dialogue can feel uneven, and the pacing occasionally disrupts the impact of key events, preventing the narrative from fully delivering on its premise. Combat follows a familiar tactical RPG structure, with battles taking place on grid-based maps where positioning and turn management are central to success. The mechanics are straightforward and easy to grasp, making the game accessible even to players new to the genre. Objectives vary enough to provide some diversity, but the overall level of challenge remains relatively low. Enemy behavior tends to be predictable, and encounters rarely demand careful planning or advanced strategy. As a result, battles can feel more routine than engaging, especially as the game progresses and players become accustomed to its systems. One of the more distinctive elements of Rise Eterna is its approach to progression. Instead of traditional leveling systems, characters improve through skill points earned after surviving encounters, which can be used to unlock abilities or enhance attributes. This system simplifies character growth and removes the need for grinding, but it also reduces the sense of long-term development. Without more complex customization or equipment options, characters can feel less distinct from one another, and team composition loses some of its strategic importance. Pacing is another area where the game shows its limitations. Maps are often large, with significant distances between points of interest, leading to extended periods of movement that slow down the flow of combat. Combined with the relatively low difficulty, this can make encounters feel drawn out without offering meaningful tension. While the game’s shorter overall length helps prevent it from becoming overly repetitive, these pacing issues are noticeable throughout the experience. Visually, Rise Eterna does a commendable job of capturing a nostalgic aesthetic. The pixel art is clean and expressive, with character portraits that convey personality and environments that evoke the look of classic tactical RPGs. Animations are smooth, and the presentation remains consistent across the game. The soundtrack supports the experience with a fitting tone, though it rarely stands out as a defining element. Despite its shortcomings, the game has a certain approachable charm. Its simplicity makes it easy to pick up and play, and its streamlined systems ensure that players can progress without needing to invest heavily in mastering complex mechanics. For those looking for a lighter, more relaxed take on the genre, it offers a straightforward experience that can be completed without significant time commitment. In the end, Rise Eterna is a game that successfully captures the surface elements of classic tactical RPGs but falls short of delivering the depth and strategic richness that define the genre’s best entries. It offers a serviceable and occasionally enjoyable journey, particularly for players seeking accessibility over complexity, but its limitations prevent it from standing out in a crowded field. Rating: 6/10
If you are fan of Fire Emblem type strategy games, give this one a try. I saw the negative reviews, and was a bit nervous to try it, but glad I did. This game is actually pretty well made and entertaining. I have played many Fire Emblem type games on Steam (Vestaria Saga, Dark Deity, Symphony of War, Those who rule, etc), and this one is right up there with the rest. It has pretty good production values, the artwork and visuals are good. No crashes or bugs, so far. Strategy wise, its pretty much Fire Emblem, but it is bit simplified. For example, there are no counter-attacks. But there is also lot of interesting customizations, including crafting and gem socketing. The main negative so far is the character dialogue. Its like it was written by a teenager. Maybe its a translation issue. There are also some other curious design choices. Characters dont level up or get experience. Instead, after every successful story mission, they get a skill point for the skill tree. There also isnt any gear, other than items and gems. But give them credit for trying something different, and not just be a FE knock off. This is a fine Fire Emblem game as long as you are OK with some things done differently. Usually, I agree with the public reviews on a game. But not in this case, it doesnt deserve all the negative reviews. Perhaps, the developer has made some improvements since these reviews were posted. Either way, give it a try if you are a FE fan.
Gra o dużym potencjale. Ale od początku. Wady: - Brak balansu postaci - Lua + Łucznik wszystko wybija.
