About

Terrazael. A world torn apart by oathbreakers, warmongers, and wielders of forbidden arcane secrets.
A world on its last strand of hope brought to its knees by a Calamity centuries ago that tore down its mighty civilizations. Petty kings rule in place of grand emperors of old that wage fruitless, ill-advised wars picking over ancient ruins like glorified scavengers.
Lead a team of four students in the Brookstead Military Academy, who are shut down on the mysterious orders of King Varic. The ruler of the Kingdom of Delia is preparing to break a millennium-old treaty and Brookstead students make for fine cannon fodder... However, these four soldiers are destined for more than just acting as unwilling meat for another grinder.
They may not know it yet, but they will make their mark on history.

Lead soldiers into the fray across a world torn apart by endless war and magical cataclysms.
Fight through hand-crafted, turn-based combat scenarios spread out across 28 chapters, as rookies become veterans.
Test your tactical mettle. Maneuver, attack, break through, and - maybe - turn the tide of the war.
Engineer the rise of legends, from a pile of raw conscripts to a band of mythical heroes.

Defeat doesn’t mean permadeath, but there is a price to pay: Every time a warrior falls, it means a grave wound, a stat penalty, and weakening your squad.
Hope is a rare commodity in a world ruined by Calamity, good thing these heroes are filled to the brim.
Defy the fates and make a difference as the head of this unlikely band of heroes.
Watch characters bond together on the battlefield and their relationships evolve through 400 individual conversations.

Dumped it and the franchise as soon as the lgbt ♥♥♥♥ started.
Scratches the Fire Emblem itch but the difficulty is a mixed bag with characters constantly dying but no permadeath making it very easy to throw units into frays because you only need one left to finish the battle. Also, the near constant recruitments even late into the game makes leveling up certain units impractical because you'll probably pick up a level 20 somewhere down the line. The lack of side missions to level up your units also makes it not worth diversifying your team as the story battles get harder and instead just stick with the units you started with or switching to high level recruitments. I had fun beating it in three days so it was worth the five dollars I spent on sale but I don't think I'd pay full price for it since there's not a ton of replay value due to the aforementioned lack of unit diversity or serious RPG elements. I'll try the sequel when it goes on sale because it seems to have some improvements and greedy Nintendo still won't put dang Fire Emblem on Steam. I wish there was a medium recommendation option but I'll give it a thumbs up since one character's death quote is "Aight, Imma head out"
Visually appealing, but I've found the characters and gameplay to be pretty shallow. The plot's pacing is strange, and one of the early major plot points just didn't receive the reaction from the characters that I'd have expected from loyal soldiers. They tried to do something interesting with the armor and damage types, but even on the highest difficulty it doesn't feel like it makes a notable difference. I've heard that the sequel improves on some, but not all, of the things that have made it hard for me to enjoy this game, so I'll give that one a go instead.
Game is unfinished, class development is 80% wrong decisions, and despite being great on a controller it is programmed to conjure inputs from the mouse
Many of the other negative reviews touch on the individual aspects I didn't enjoy, so I'll just say this: It's not a bad game, but it's not gripping, either. The story is standard fare, so it didn't hold my attention. The gameplay is fine; it's your usual Fire Emblem set-up, but clunkier. It just didn't hold my attention. I'm sure the sequel is better. I'd say give that a try, instead.
The combat system is fun, but the UI is bad and the story/conversations are absolutely horrid. Definitely skip this one if you are looking for immersion or a story to play through - it reads like an AI script.
It's been a long time since I tried this out, figured I'd jump back into it before trying the second game. As a Fire Emblem fan I was interested in the game because it looked like it might capture the essence of the SNES titles I grew up playing. It doesn't quite come up to that. Combat is alright for the most part, but sometimes it just feels off. When I quit playing last time I'd run into a crash that happened in a castle. Had to replay the whole thing to get through it. And, unfortunately, out by the Aqueduct I had a crash. Not a great time considering I just jumped back in today to prepare for the 2nd. Ah well, looking at my previous notes and comparing to today.. Yeah, this one just isn't it for me. The level design is slightly on the frustrating side. Maps are big with too many chokepoints. Enemy troops to Friendly Troops ratio is so askew I can't imagine this is a war our team could actually win. The writing is alright. Ultimately I don't see myself pushing through this, but I don't think the game is bad. I've heard the second is better, so I'll just jump straight into it instead.
Bro this map design made me forgive Fire Emblem Fates
I played Dark Deity2 before this game actually. I'ts been an interesting perspective. Definitely happy to have picked up this series, I find this game fun. Missing some qol compared to sequel, but that's ok. If you're itching for a Fire Emblem-like? Maybe give this game a chance.
