About
Jump a rift, fight off monsters, and plunder their world. Rift Riff is a tower defense game noteworthy in two ways: it's particularly strategic and remarkably forgiving.
At the heart of the strategic layer of Rift Riff is a mix of choosing what towers you bring into each rift and being clever about the various monster behaviors. Monsters attack in waves, either going straight for your Extractor (your main tower) or attacking every tower in proximity. To defend yourself, you choose a handful of towers at the start of a scenario and build them on predetermined spots on the map. You obtain juice (your build resource) during monster waves and have the ability to build and upgrade towers before and during each wave. Surviving the onslaught of monsters gives you prisms, which in turn unlocks more rifts, towers, companions, and tower upgrades.
Don’t have enough juice to build your tower? Schedule it. Built the wrong tower? Get a full refund. Lost a tower? It’ll respawn for free after the wave. Lost your Extractor? Only redo the last wave. Having a hard time? Pick flowers for a bit of extra juice.
The full game currently features ± 15–20 hours of gameplay:
20 worlds with 2 or more scenarios each.
17 tower types with 7 overpowered upgrades.
25 monster types with varying behaviors.
6 companions who'll assist you and your towers.
45 challenges for die hards.
All the good Steam stuff: achievements, stats, controller support, cloud saves, etc.

The game is very similar to Thronefall but here you have a hub where you can buy new towers, companions and upgrade options for towers. On some levels the final wave can be challenging so thankfully you can restart a wave and rearrange your defenses. Visuals are nice and very colourful. But the best part is the sounds, all of the sounds. And these sounds combined with these visuals create an atmosphere so most of the times I don't want to leave. I hope we'll get a sequel
Looks and feels great. I'd call it a "hidden gem" and wish for this game to gain more traction. Loved the dome keeper reference as that is a game I also enjoy. Easy enough to just play and chill, hard enough to require meaningful strategic decisions. Feels smooth and rewarding to play with always something new to discover.

Overall the game IS very forgiving & quite chill; The main game should be beatable ~6hr more or less; Additional content should be beatable from 6~20hr+ depend on your... intelligence.
I like the game overall, minimalistic and to the point. You'll have a good time. Yeah, the levels are more like a puzzle, but they're also not an obtuse puzzle. Figuring out what works in what context is part of the fun here. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all that voice acting is just... why does it even exist? It is extremely annoying, and it is somehow extensively varied in its annoyance. You can't even fully turn it off without muting the whole game (and that's a shame because the sound design overall is pretty good). In all my years of gaming, I have never - ever - encountered something like this. I almost feel bad writing this because the devs have clearly put a lot of effort into the game, and me harping on this one particular point makes it seem as if I'm diminishing all that hard work. Then you hear "pom-pom-pom-pom," "waoh," "ohohey" and other such frequent remarks whenever you do anything, over and over and over again... Over and over and over again... It has to be experienced to be believed. What were they thinking?

good
The game is pretty neat and the pixal art looks wonderful, but don't expect a complex gameplay. The game doesn't have a lot to offer, towers are pretty generic, enemies too and the diffculty is not that high, even with challenges it's nothing too hard... I got bored after 4 hours, but I may comeback to 100% the game in the future. Still, it wasn't worth paying full price.
