Returnal is easily one of the most fun games I have ever played. 3D Bullet Hell is a fairly rare genre, and I would probably have enjoyed playing it however well polished it was, but this game is extremely well made. I barely noticed any bugs, and the ones I did come across were not particularly annoying. The visuals were amazing, the music was amazing, the movement mechanics were smooth, and the guns were awesome. I love the way the game balances permanent progression with the roguelike genre. Every permanent upgrade I gained or boss I defeated made me feel like I was making actual progress (however slow and difficult), but the threat of reset on death kept me focused during each and every combat encounter. The difficulty was perfect for me, enough to challenge me to pay attention but not so hard as to make me give up. After beating the final boss I unlocked some overpowered traits for weapons I hadn't used much, and that combined with having all the permanent upgrades made
the first four biomes
pretty easy, but
the last two biomes
remained pretty difficult. The bosses were all very memorable, though often less difficult than the swarms of enemies in regular rooms. I didn't find the storyline to be anything special, but it didn't really need to be, and it was easily good enough to not feel like a let down. The Ascension DLC was also brilliant, providing a more condensed version of the Returnal gameplay loop without the exploration, where you can try out all sorts of overpowered weapons. Where the main game rewards a more careful playstyle and sometimes backtracking, in the Tower of Sisyphus the only direction you can go is up. If I ever come back to this game it will be to play the DLC. 10/10.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 28: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This game doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work. In less than 30 minutes, I've already had to restart it four times because black screens and loading screens seem to go hand in hand. Gotta love a game that can't even load properly. Thank God I bought this piece of ♥♥♥♥ on sale.
genuine masterpiece. it's incredibly rare for a big budget AAA game to have a great story, but for one to have a great story, great mechanics, great visuals, and uncompromising difficulty is almost unheard of in this day and age.
Ewww you need to install epic game service just Ewww disgusting
The game is good but I wouldn't give Sony your money as they've abandoned the PC market for their single player first party titles.
Surprisingly difficult, but you eventually learn. Ultimately I felt like the story was pretty limited, and most of the gameplay elements were put in place to slow you down to pad out the runtime. Like I was enjoying it... then I just hit a wall where I kept on seeing all the asset reuse, and how the difficulty and weird leveling system was just slowing down the game.
Game's fun. But poor optimization. Stuttering is very annoying. Especially Ixion 3rd Phase after he pulls out the sword. Devs probably don't care about this game anymore so good luck having this stuttering party.
Crazy difficult. dont know why its so hard for devs to add difficulty sliders to games, not everyone is a basement-dwelling super-nerd.
