Honestly, my opinion of RE5 is the same as my opinion of RE6, which I also wrote a small review on, but to reiterate: RE6 and RE5 are good games, but people get whiny about them not being scary enough and "too action-y". Maybe that's true, but I don't care. I like the action. I think they're excellent games if you want a horror-skinned cooperative shooter. I suppose on a surface-level comparison I'd liken them to Gears of War. The world is gritty and there are awful monsters in it, but despite the horror themes, they're not all that terrifying to play unless enemies that can pretty much instakill you are a concern and those are few and far between (I only know of one specific enemy that could be pretty awful to fight late-game and that's because they're designed to be carefully dealt with). So yes, if you go in with the right expectations, I highly recommend RE5 and RE6. They're seriously a lot of fun. I have so many hours back on PS3 between the two of them that I won't pretend for one second to agree with any of the hate people had for them. Anyone who avoids these games because they wanted something else is missing out and doesn't know what a good game is.
