i recommend it to everyone, a good old game for real boys and girls. I like Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3, this , classic edition. Thank God, and thank to those who work to do that, Capcom and the team.

There are games you play, and then there are games that stay with you for decades. The original Resident Evil (Biohazard) is firmly in the second category. As Resident Evil (Biohazard) is a childhood classic for me! Going back to the Spencer Mansion feels like opening a time capsule. The fixed camera angles, the eerie silence, the unforgettable soundtrack, the cheesy yet charming voice acting, and those iconic door loading animations all create an atmosphere that sticks throughout the game. Every hallway feels dangerous, every item matters, and every bio-weapon encounter keeps you on edge. By today's standards, the controls and presentation may seem dated, but that's part of its identity. Instead of constant action, the game builds tension through limited resources, clever puzzles, and the fear of not knowing what's waiting around the next corner. It rewards patience and careful exploration. This is the game that laid the foundation for the survival horror genre and introduced so many unforgettable moments that are now gaming history. Whether you're revisiting it for nostalgia or experiencing it for the first time, it's easy to appreciate just how influential and well crafted it still is.

## What I Liked - The atmosphere and vibe of everything holds up to this day. - The more campy tone of the story is fantastic and the live-action cutscenes are the cherry on top. - Gameplay holds up extremely well and is just as interesting as it was. ## What I Didn't Like - The only small thing is that the game is a bit too easy, but you have options to make it more difficult if you want them. ## Gameplay This was the part that really surprised me, as I expected the worst. You have to struggle a bit at first with the controls after not having used something like this in so long, but once I got in the groove I was having a blast. The horror is still there and you do feel the resource contention creeping in as you navigating around the mansion. The puzzles hold up and coming back to this game (which I had only played REmake) you see so many homages from later games. You don't feel empowered like you do in RE4 or something like that, you are pushed to avoid conflict if possible. Fits the tone of the game perfectly. As well it may be worth mentioning, but Mulderland Enhancement pack does add some QoL features that I did just leave the defaults on with. If you are going to play this and don't want to dive into figuring out which mods to use, I would really recommend this one touch install. I don't think the couple of QoL features it added like tactical reload and quick turn affect the experience enough to feel like I was 99% of the way to vanilla. ## Graphics & Sound Again, I did play this with the enhancement pack, but I do want to comment on the base style of the game and atmosphere of it's sounds. This is a game that deserves to be experienced at night and with the volume high enough to pick up on all the queues. Sound really is an essential aspect of the game as you can sometimes tell more from it than what you are seeing. The mansion and later portions are styled so well that you do find yourself buying into them as real places. Also worth mentioning is the contrast of the start and the end of the game, does a fantastic job of making you feel uneasy throughout. ## Would I Recommend It? Depends, if you want to experience this game as it's own thing and not just for having played this portion of the story. REmake is overall better and not much more money, with changes that make it into a classic. Having played that and loving the series, my playthrough here is to see what the original vision was. I ended up loving that original vision so I think coming in here with an open mind and having been a fan, it's worth picking up. ### Who Should Skip It People who dislike tank controls, older horror games, those who don't like to struggle a bit with the systems, those who want something a bit tighter in scares. ## PC Spec CPU: i7-14700K Memory: 32GB Video Card: RTX 3080 Storage Type: NVMe Monitor resolution: 5120x1440 Mods Used: Mulderland Enhancement Pack

I ran this with the Seamless HD project and Rebirth. Amazing start to finish. 10/10

OG survival horror. One of the first games I can remember playing way back in the day. I love the replayability the the original RE games. Sucks you have to mod this in order to get some of the extra content that is in actual RE1 games like the 3DS version. Don't play if you don't like retro games. This had fixed camera angles and tank controls.
