Do you have what it takes to become an astronaut? Reentry is a realistic space flight simulator inspired by the early NASA space programs, from orbiting Earth in Mercury and Gemini, to the moon landing in project Apollo. Learn the procedures. Operate the spacecraft. Complete the mission.

About
Launch into space and operate real spacecraft systems the way astronauts did.
Reentry is a realistic space flight simulator-game that blends authentic spacecraft systems with structured missions, progression, and guided learning, and aims to meet the middle-ground between a simulator and a game.
Create your own astronaut, complete historical and fictional missions, gain experience, and gradually master increasingly sophisticated spacecraft operations.
Spacecraft are extraordinarily advanced machines designed to survive and operate in one of the most hostile environments imaginable. In Reentry you will interact directly with their systems by managing guidance computers, propulsion systems, navigation, life support, and mission procedures.
To support both curious explorers and experienced simulator players, the game provides a full learning environment: the in-game Space Flight Academy, detailed spacecraft manuals, and step-by-step checklists. Reentry gives you the tools to learn these complex vehicles.
Watch the sunrise while orbiting Earth at 25,500 ft/s. Navigate toward the Moon. Monitor the systems that keep you alive while the planet moves beneath you. Feel the solitude and responsibility of being in space.
Reentry is a game about exploration and the experience of operating real spacecraft systems.
Learn the procedures. Master the systems. Complete the missions.
Ready to launch? Welcome to Reentry - A Space Flight Simulator.

In short, this is some of the most genuinely impressive stuff I have seen in my life, but it requires a large time commitment to learn. The time commitment was not a problem for me, as I was glad to learn this kind of thing. I recommend this to people who are not just interested in spaceflight, but systems engineering as well. It is clear that many years of hard work were poured into this simulation (NOT "game". or maybe it is. like 80% simulation 20% game because of the simplifications that were put in. some can, however, be disabled). I have two gripes with this software, however, and they are very fixable: * There is a number of typos in the Academy lessons. * Timescale (specifically 0x/pause) is not available in some scenarios (like launch or when DET is <10sec I believe). I understand speed-ups not being available, but it would be great if 0.5x and 0x could be enabled, especially when I have to go do something urgently in the middle of launch or an external dV burn. Additionally, it requires a solid foundation of orbital mechanics to learn this. I recommend watching some videos or playing a good bit of KSP or SFS (cheaper) for this. Beyond this, the subsystems only go to a certain level of depth, as it would be near impossible to replicate every subsystem in the Apollo, Gemini, and Mercury missions exactly. I don't want these negatives to take away from the insane quality of Reentry. If you really want to go down this rabbit hole, I strongly recommend Reentry. It's at the intersection of history and spaceflight mechanics, and it is excellent. Some of the best money I've spent in my life. Thanks for reading the yap (you probably just scrolled down to the bottom without reading anyway) and BUY THIS!
If you think Kerbal Space Program is fun but not nearly realistic enough, this is the game for you.
if all you spaceship centered game developers want to know how to get our attention and make our ships more interesting... THIS is how. Cant count the times ive been in well designed ships and nothing works. Just cosmetic. Having some of this realism in our spaceships would rock. Great game and great educational tool. Well done!!
When it works, this game is incredible. The graphics are very detailed and even without VR you feel fully immersed into the actual US spacecraft of the 1960's. The author should receive the "Labor of Love" award every year for his sincere commitment to this game. There are some caveats however. First, my original graphics card was overwhelmed and I would get the black screen on my monitor as the GPU temperature soared past 90c. I had to invest in a 5070 card and those are not cheap. But then I had the pleasure of actually entering into and completing the tutorials. Here again is a caveat. Those tutorials are not enough for the steep learning curve you will encounter in the campaigns. Even with the pdf handbooks, I was still having to run the missions several times to learn what to do. No surprise since these spacecraft were, and remain, highly complicated machines. Also, the missions give you a lot of pop-up chatter that does not always help the experience. Learn how to filter these. If you feel you can help with identifying the rough points, the author is extremely dedicated to getting those fixed. No "that's too bad" from him and that remains a plus. By all means invest in the game but be prepared to get to work. This is no time to relax. You are trying to land on the moon. A giant leap for gamerkind.
This is indeed a simulator You'll have to pass plenty of tutorial missions, watch videos, and read dozens and hundreds of pages of provided manuals (including real ones) to properly understand your spacecraft and safely guide it through the mission using minimal or none of in-game assistance. More than 50 hours, but I just recently completed full flight to moon and back, and that's even without a moon landing! There's still plenty of stuff to learn and try including historical missions! Wonderful simulator! Wish developers to continue to carry on with such a great sim with success!
launching this game properly on VR is harder than landing on the moon, im very dissapointed as a die hard apollo fan
