Fun quick game, as an indie game I quite liked it. One small strange thing was that many of the items in the game served no purpose (e.g. you could put them in your inventory, but they didn't do anything). Probably would have been better if those items weren't possible to pick up at all, to avoid confusion perhaps. Other than that I enjoyed the quick ride the game took me on. Hoping there will be some longer ones in the same vein in the future!

Very cool and interesting story

A nice little short game. After finishing the main part, for me about 70 minutes, you do unlock some extra stuff to do, but it was not as captivating, so I stopped playing there. The game have creapy background sounds, but I just turned audio off and put on some nice country western and solved the puzzles. I did not manage to unlock the phone... sad.

Short but really memorable game. I loved the cozy atmosphere, and deciphering the story through all the little hints and clues was a lot of fun. It keeps you curious and makes piecing everything together really satisfying. Definitely worth playing!

[Redacted] The Safehouse is a detective game which involves solving a double homicide. The story opens with Detective Reed receiving a text from the police chief that a girl in witness protection and her boyfriend were found dead in the safehouse where the girl was living for several months. In addition to the deaths of both victims, the girl's therapist has not been heard from since the night of the incident. The general narrative is conveyed through a mixture of contextual clues, as well as some explicit journal entries found on the computer. The game is not afraid to bend the rules a bit with its reality, which introduces some potential red herrings into the investigation. I found it to be a generally satisfying story, though not among the best of the genre. There's a less than subtle underlying mystery, which I think would have benefited from being a bit more coy. The gameplay of [Redacted] The Safehouse is sort of a hybrid between the computer-based keyword sleuthing of Her Story and the Mad Libs-style fill-in-the-blank solutioning of The Case of the Golden Idol. Where it deviates from the two would be that the player can also move around the apartment searching for clues. The basic premise is that Detective Reed needs to fill out the case report before leaving the safehouse. The case report has several picklist-style responses, like "____ killed ____ with a ____ in the ____," very much in the vein of Clue. Most of the answers will be discovered by searching through the computer, which has several redacted files. For example, one might search "Josh" on the computer, and get three files returned which contain that keyword somewhere in their text. When a file is revealed, there may be certain words which are redacted, which are often key to solving the mystery. When a certain number of files are revealed, the redacted text can be unlocked. It's an interesting premise, but I found that these redacted words were usually easily guessable (names excluded), so the tricky part was guessing what keywords to enter to reveal additional journal entries. [Redacted] The Safehouse is a worthwhile experience for the low price tag and limited gameplay length. The game employs an interesting choice of art direction, which fits the tone nicely. Whether or not it's a game I'd recommend to everyone though... I think the answer is obviously, [REDACTED].
