Loved this game! I think this might just be Just Sauce Studio's best game yet. You can feel the time and care they put into it, care that you dont see in other little horror games. Even just setting out to have a full story told from start to finish and voice acted is ambitious and I think sets it apart. Its creepy, I jumped multiple times, and I also got a little emotional from the story, that is something most games can't accomplish. Keep it up guys!
Wanted to drop a quick review here! Just Sauce is a studio that has consistently been producing great horror games for a number of years now. Gaze of Dread is no different. The time that they spend crafting the environments is second to none with their houses actually feeling like real, live places that someone might live which in Indie Horror is refreshing. Too often you play a game where you're supposed to believe that someone lives in an apartment with a couch and a bed and that's the entire setup. Voice acting mainly on point, especially for the main character and secondary. Bill is definitely a little silly sounding more like drunk goofy than anything else but you just kind of go with it. This game is about a girl who needs a vacation away from the troubles at home and so she takes a week long stay at an AirBnB and spooky things start to happen around her. You'll have a bit of the neighborhood to explore as well as the main house location and some spooky outside areas such as forest trails and dream sequences. The game goes for more of a tense atmosphere rather than in your face jumpscares (although it does have quite a few!) and they try to build a believable neighborhood scare game. For the most part I think they succeed, although the game isn't without it's faults. For my particular tastes the game leaves the grounded a little too much with dream sequences that take me a bit out of the narrative but not so much so that I didn't enjoy it. You'll have some scary chases in underground mazes and forests that seem to close in around you. Then you'll be back to a spooky neighborhood where it's just not quite normal. Overall I would say that if you're a fan of any of Just Sauces previous games that you can definitely enjoy this one as well as it shows off a lot of their game design abilities and it's a pleasure visually. If you haven't played Pact of Joy or Born into Fear I strongly recommend you do so! tl;dr - A neat horror game that does quite a bit well to keep the player invested, would just have liked to see more grounded approach to horror.
So so fun! Great story and spooky vibes. The dream sequences I absolutely loved and hated at the same time because thats what my dreams be like fr. Just Sauce always puts in 110% into their games and it shows. Great job you guys!
Pretty well designed game with good voice acting and a story. I don't really have much complaints about it but one thing I did notice was that for many of the cut scenes the cinematics are shot from behind the speaker to hide the fact that there is no lip movement when they talk. Not saying its a bad thing there are quite a few instances where the game shows that its an indie game but I feel like other parts of the game shine past that. The game is also about 2 hrs long and I did keep me engaged and interested in it. Quick summary of the story is about a getaway gone wrong due to a vampire skulking around and its the person you least expect and I liked that the journal had artwork drawn for the backstory of the vampire. Overall a good game with good voice acting and an interesting story. https://youtu.be/pQkSTx754D8
What got me real good is the story. It's dark and the characters are all well made and likeable. Under all the Indie Horror out there, this is one of the best I played so far.
Wasn't really expecting much from this but wow, what a blast. Loved this and can't wait to see what you do next.

So far, I'm in love with this game. I don't want to spoil anything, but overall it's great. The storyline, the visuals, the voice acting, everything... We'll see how it ends tho, haven't finished it yet.
Atmosphere: 9/10. Really well designed neighborhood and a lot of details in the homes. Cool dream designs sometimes a little wacky. Really good sound design and voice acting. Story: 7/10. The story was emotional and the Main characters plot was completed but left some unanswered questions about other things.. overall its definitely a slow burn. Wish they showed the world more (the forest, the town) but the MCs story was good. Game play: 8/10. Camera, with a photo album. Your usual flashlight (no batteries yay) and whole lot of walking and running around taking in the pretty and strange visuals. One stealth section and few chases (and a reverse chase?) but nothing annoying and the reset points were set up well. No annoying hassles except when you take too many pictures. Would've liked something more interacting or involved in the end. Difficulty: Very straight forward. Easy but it was still very fun. Overall I'd say this was an 8/10. I wanted more lore or explanation on the paranormal things you come across.
This is my First Review Ever I’ve played and streamed over 700 indie games, and I can confidently say this is without a doubt one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Everything from the atmosphere to the build-up had me completely hooked. The graphics are stunning for an indie title, the pacing is spot-on, and the emotional storytelling genuinely hit me harder than I expected. Keep up the incredible work — this one deserves way more attention, and I can’t wait to see what you create next!
