Twenty-second century Earth. Five years after the rebellion on Mars. For the last 15 years, Sopot, the corrupt dictator, has oppressed the people of the Commonwealth. His relentless pursuit of unification with the neighboring United Republic has left the country soaked in unnecessary bloodshed and poverty.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A laughably bad game, this sequel changes everything for the worse. The gunplay is stale and lacks any impact, the ugly crosshairs cover the screen so it's hard to aim properly, the writing is just abysmal, the textures are a wild mix of qualities that clash, the defining mechanic of destructible environments feels like a gimmick they never capitalize on properly, and there's a painfully long and horrendously boring turret section early on. The game just an unpleasant experience all around.

Overall: While it’s a solid FPS for its era, modern players may find it a bit underwhelming. In my opinion, it is the weakest entry in the series, but it still has redeeming qualities that make it entertaining. Because it is short and lacks any majorly frustrating moments, it’s worth a playthrough, just keep your expectations in check. Pros: Decent story that keeps you engaged. Good combat and solid controls. A wide array of weapons to experiment with. Great gameplay variety and interesting distraction mechanics. Strong presentation in terms of soundtrack and voice acting. Cons: Dated visuals that haven't aged particularly well. Very short length (a blessing for some, but a curse for others).
If you really love Red Faction 1 but haven't played II you're probably going to be disappointed. It seems Volition completely misread fan feedback and enthusiasm about RF1 and inexplicably went a very different direction with this sequel. When I picked this game up for PS2 back in the day I hoped for a continuation of RF1's story, more or better RF1 style gameplay, and more geo-mod fun. Story wise this game borrows one macguffin from RF1 but is otherwise completely unrelated and the game takes place on Earth. The gunplay feels about the same as RF1 with some variations. RF II actually pulls back on the geomod tech that made RF1 unique and it's barely used in the campaign. If you liked RF1's multiplayer you're out of luck here as Volition inexplicably decided to not include online MP on RF II. All that said, I do like RF II. I've spent hours speed running it and I think it's kinda a charming microcosm of its time. The story and dialogue is cheesy on purpose as it's meant to be a satire to the typical action shlock that was popular in the early 00's. Moreover some of the story beats are meant to reference the U.S.'s conflict in Iraq which was a new issue when this game was being developed. I can only really recommend this game as a picture of its time and if you don't appreciate generic early 00's shooters or culture I can't really see anyone enjoying this as a first playthrough in 2026. At this point Volition is dead and the series IP is owned by a third party unlikely to ever revisit what made Red Faction special. Buyer beware- know what you're getting into. The game is also missing a lot of the creature comforts, bug fixes, and visual fidelity made possible for RF1 by dedicated community modders. There is a launcher being worked on that fixed most issues but it is not public at the moment as far as I know. entire point of franchise is that its set on mars: game isnt on mars
Painful, i dont hate games very often but i do with this, that boss fight at the end made me want to die :'(
Doesn't work well on a modern PC and sometimes crashes. It has worse AI, story, level design and gameplay. It's just a bad sequel. Get the GOG version instead which runs way better
i did'nt hate it but i did'nt love it either its clearly a product of its time being a base shooter it played ok and i didint see any game breaking glitches so meh?
