Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

This was such a fun game to play! Shopkeeping with a mix of dungeon exploring, you get many adventures with different classes such as swordfighter and mage to fit your playstyle or to have variation. I did use google to fully understand the selling mechanisms (130% does not work on everyone like the fairy says) but I didn't mind. Just made it more fun and challenging for me Runs perfectly on Linux :)

Wonderfully funny little game about a child forced to pay her missing father's outstanding debts under threat of house seizure by converting it into an item shop for fantasy travelers. It's all the fun of economics and fantasy adventures mixed with the specter of generational debt and rampant capitalism! Gameplay is mostly menus and math, but the dungeon crawling sections feel like top-down Zelda or Ys. Definitely a product of its time in that regard, but hey, I'm still out here playing in Endless Mode to see just how deep these dungeons go, and how many characters I can possibly recruit!

I love this game. Not easy to beat on the first time, but it gets better. I highly recommend!

The OG capitalist simulator. As an eternally stuck debt slave, you must exploit the poor adventurers, willing to risk their lives for meager scraps to fund your asset flipping scheme. Very cool.

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale is a nice, cozy little game where you run an item shop to pay off your father's debt. Fun and cute characters, even the nameless customers are memorable. Fairly light on the story and gameplay, but I enjoyed every second of it. Overall, it is a good time killer when you are bored. Capitalism, ho!
