I always questioned how much influence nostalgia has towards enjoying old games. This answered that question for me as I never played this game as a kid but thoroughly enjoyed it as an adult. It's certainly a good game then.
A classic plattformer, with neat Fantasy themed graphics. I did find the first boss on normal too difficult, especsially if you fail to find the weapon power-up. Practice difficulty should of been the normal difficulty, in my humble opinion. If you enjoy classic DOS plattformers with beautiful SVGA graphics and glorious midi, I recommend this one to you.
In my opinion, Realms Of Chaos is Apogee's best platforming game.
Die guten alten spiele von damals

Realms were realming. Chaos minimal.
Played the first chapter so far on the easiest setting (because that's how I roll). Really not sure why you wouldn't play as the woman all the time, since she's got more jumping range and a farther distance on her attack (and she's not stooped over like a caveman the way the man is). (I find all these comments about how you're 'changing your gender' to be rather strange, given that it's made pretty clear you're swapping between two different characters. Maybe people are trying for topical humor? IDK, but it makes them look like their reading comprehension is poor.) Surprisingly fun, even if the controls and level design can be annoying sometimes. Like, in some levels, if you miss a jump, you have to backtrack a huge amount. In one level, if you go through a door that turns out to be right near the end of the level, you end up back at the beginning and have to backtrack through the whole level. (I happened to save right before I tried the door, so I didn't have to, but I would have been annoyed if I had.)
One of the most unique games ever made
