About

The ancient Tranton family curse has forced young Miss Susan to embark on a perilous journey—one that will take her deep into the realm of the dead. Along the way, she will encounter ghostly inhabitants, forge unexpected alliances, face formidable enemies, and, most importantly, uncover the answer to the most haunting question of all: Who is truly responsible for the massacre of her entire family?

One day, in the grand halls of the Tranton family castle, a loving couple welcomed a daughter into the world—her name was Miss Susan.
Her father, Mr. Grinn was a man of remarkable charm and influence, deeply adored by his wife and daughter. But tragedy struck when he met a mysterious and untimely death.
Grief consumed Susan’s mother, Miss Agatha, who found herself lost in sorrow, wandering the castle like a shadow, unable to bear the weight of her loss. Those around her, hoping to bring her solace, arranged for her to remarry. Her new husband, Mr. Austin was a rich and intelligent gentleman. This union brought a small sense of order back into the family.
Yet this fragile peace was nothing more than an illusion.
Like a black cat prowling in the night, misfortune slinked through the halls, leaving whispers of curses and sins in its wake…

This game looked promising when I first saw its store page a few months ago. But I honestly can’t recommend this for several reasons. In fairness, let's start with the positives about the game. Pros: - Solid point-&-click controls. Interactions mostly work, you have a lot of camera control, and the HUD gives you all the info you need. - Ambitious art direction. 2D characters in a detailed 3D environment. A lot of work was put into the look of the levels. - Interesting setting. It’s very Alice in Wonderland-like, with the strange characters, bizarre world, and our main character rolling with it all in an amusing way. Cons: - Cutscenes can be awkward at times. The animations are stiff, the voice acting is off sometimes, especially for the main character, and it’s not always consistent in its style, as some characters and creatures are 3D. - Puzzles are sometimes nonsensical. Like how I needed to give a bird a spoon to make it leave the hat (that my character didn’t need. Just to see what’s under the hat), even though my character was swatting birds with his hands earlier. Or how my character would say aloud that the monsters surrounding her are attached to sound. Or how I needed to combine colors for stones, but the mixing table just wasn’t working. - Saving doesn’t save your progress. Every time you load a save, it starts you at the beginning of the level. All puzzle progress is reset. Lastly, and the biggest reason I don't recommend in good faith, is that the devs have a scummy history with how they treated voice actors before. There's a long history, but I'll give the biggest points, with the context that there used to be a different cast of English voice actors that left for these reasons. - Were asked to read hundreds of lines, due in less than a week, for just 100 dollars. - Only paid two voice actors, with plans to use AI to make them sound different for each character, like the original Russian audio, even though they received half a dozen auditions from people willing to contribute. - During auditions, they would screenshare cheap fiver options to compare the voice actor to, right in front of them, humiliating the people auditioning. - When voice actors refused to have AI used on them, they were kicked out and replaced with a new cast. - Any Steam discussion post that protested this practice was deleted or banned, while posts that celebrated AI taking over voice actors/artists were left untouched. I'm sure plenty of people will try to defend/excuse all this, but even more have stood against this.
Castle of Secrets – ein düsteres Abenteuer ohne Sogwirkung

🕯️ 🏰 🌫️ 🕯️
Kein Spiel, das ich weiterempfehlen würde. it could have been a good game; I've enjoyed most of the game play but became totally frustrated by the inability to save progress other than at the end of a chapter. The game might be fine for those with unlimited time or particularly fast players but not everyone falls into that category; some of us have to reply upon snatching an odd half hour as and when available or playing late at night when time is limited. I made it almost to the end of level 8 but struggled to complete the last sequence before having to give up for the night. I have now lost all my progress on that level with the prospect that the same would happen again so I am reluctantly giving up on the game. There is a save and load option in the menu but this still saves only to the start of the chapter so what is it's purpose? It should have been so simple to enable this to save at any point so that we could continue to play again later when time ran out. In levels 7 and 8 (and presumably more to come) there are timed sequences which cannot be skipped (fine for experienced players but often game ending for those of us with less dexterity) but in any event mean that the level cannot be completed in the time available. It's such a shame that for some of us the game cannot be continued. I know that there will players who will consider these points to be irrelevant and don't want the easier options but why not cater for all potential players, the more experienced don't have to use the easier options and can still enjoy a challenge.
While the graphics are beautiful, the story line lacks depth. Some of the hit boxes are weird which makes some of the timed puzzles hard. The save button also doesn't work so I lost all the progress I had. I am truly disappointed in this game as I was looking forward to playing it.
Zero kreatywności, nowych pomysłów i innowacyjności.
Obrazy z renesansu
OCENA: 6,5/10

Zapraszam do obserwacji naszego kuratora: ŚWIAT RECENZJI
Publikacja recenzji także na sztab.com
It is a copycat of "Alice: Madness Returns" but with a not-great gameplay and not a good story either. It seems off. I don't know how to explain it, maybe because characters feel lifeless, the mixing 2D and 3D and the lack of coherence ? And I like chaotic games and stories so ... I don't recommand it.
Do you remember those old Nintendo games that felt like they were cheating you because their puzzles or systems were not well-designed? Do you remember the cheap deaths, the minuscule timing windows to input the correct sequence before you were never allowed to open your eyes again? This game kind of feels like that. What's here storywise is pretty standard; it's not super impressive, but it's not exactly lacking, either. No, the part about this game that bothers me the most is everything else. I have run across at least six different glitches through my game's playthrough, and I've exercised quite a bit of patience trying to pass through levels that would give Job a run for his money (or his children.) The skeleton gate puzzle is set up poorly; there's three cages for you to click on, but since you have to be close to the first gate (it opens/closes quickly) you have to be positioned in such a way that your camera facing has to be just right. If it's not, the game will click on a different cage you didn't intend to, even if you highlighted the correct one. There are other issues with the game being terribly fiddly with the controls, items not responding to inputs, and one VERY strange bug where once I solved a puzzle in the swamps, the game's language turned to Russian for no apparent reason. This game is one step away from being a dumpster fire. However, the redeeming part of the game lies in its puzzles, as there are quite a few various puzzle types and some non-traditional ones as well, in the general sense of "puzzling," at least. I just wish the game didn't look like it came from 2002, and play like it was developed in 1996. The devs have a lot to work on with this game, and the current asking price of $9.99--glitches and lacklustre level of polish included--is too high to justify the purchase. This is a solid thumbs down from me.
6/10 https://youtu.be/V2TfD6wtbFo https://youtu.be/NTGUG0fwGeE https://youtu.be/USUOeR0AdhM
I'm not quite finished with the game, and while I will finish it, I wanted to leave an honest review while most of the parts that frustrated me were fresh. I wanted to like this game, I played the demo and was excited to play the game so I added to my wishlist. The demo seems to have been the best part of the game and the most worked out. There are lots of glitches, the voice acting will randomly switch to a different language, some cutscenes the voice cuts out completely and you have no idea what's going on. Some mechanics for puzzles randomly don't work (for example in the past, present, future cage I finished it but the skull wasn't in the chest and it took 30 minutes before I gave up and watched a video and realized my chest was missing the skull, once I reset the level it worked fine and I didn't do anything different) and you have to reset the level, even if you saved. There were a few at the end of a longer level and so it was really frustrating. Sometimes the puzzles made no sense or it was tricky to get pieces to fit in the exact spot it wanted them despite the puzzles overall being so easy to the point of boring. The one puzzle where you're running around in the swamp to the music, the camera auto adjusted too high so that you couldn't see the floor to know when to jump, I had to keep resetting the camera angle while running which was a bit frustrating. If the glitches and everything were fixed it has potential, but again I think the puzzles are too easy and the story is bit all over the place. The art style is unique and I enjoyed it. Game length is good. The thing with the two tree monsters was unexpected and made me laugh (iykyk). Unfortunately, due to glitches and ease of puzzles I wouldn't recommend.
