Much improved this year. A professional football sandbox. You can coach single games, single seasons, and a career over many seasons. Download user made mods for NFL, USFL(80s), WFL(74), and other real leagues. Highlight clips, boxscores, and a PBP(play by play) are saved for all games including career that allows you to go back over the history of your league and watch highlights of every game, including post season. Very customizable, from interface logos, fields, field art, and uniforms. You can also customize game sounds. The simulation engine is used for both played out games, and simmed games. Create your own fictional universe and coach/manage a team, or be the commissioner. I've had the versions from 2021 thru this new one(2023). The developer is very accessible and listens to his users. Many of the features were suggested by gamers. And it can also be a great teaching tool if you have someone new to football, or youngsters you want to teach the fundamentals. The playcalling allows for basically constructing plays from formations to routes and personnel. Be as involved as you choose.
There is no other computer sports game that provides me more enjoyment than PSF2023. As a result, I play it the most, hands down. The ability to customize the game (from graphics to game rules) has allowed me to build my very own football universe. Also, if like me, you enjoy fictional play, you'll be able to appreciate this game.
A gem. The game it not perfect but this is one of the positives in it. A whole community aligned in improving the game and Kerry, the developer, completely devoted in listen to any opinion and voice, learn from it. The AI is much better than Madden. The games are a thriller and either you want to coach the team or just simulate games you will be on the edge of you chair. Buy the game! Try it! Once you have it you can download any season of the NFL for free! If you don’t like to play a football game like you were hitting a slot machine, this is your game. See you one the other side, the bright one.
Best American Football sim on pc! The graphics are retro but improved over previous versions. There is a career mode, but it likely isn't going to appeal to team building enthusiasts as it's very simplified. This game is intended for those who like to coach a team to victory. Call the plays and watch the action play out. Plus you have free access to tons of NFL seasons thanks to the mod community for the game. For the price you can't beat this game!!
Incredible SANDBOX football game. Nothing else like it. You can edit just about anything imaginable here. People can continue to update and mod prior great NFL games like Madden 08 on PC, or espn 2k5 - but even those games have limitations, like being unable to get 17 game seasons/7-playoff teams, the current PAT yard-line, and other such changes to the game since those releases. In PSF23 however, no such limitations exist. The modding community is great, you can get just about any team from any year dating back to the 1940's. What else is great is, the game can be as in-depth or as simple as you desire. For example, you can play a never ending career/gm mode where you can edit every player in the draft classes if you'd like, or just keep the randomly generated players. You can edit any player portrait photos you want, edit player ratings, custom playoffs, team schedules, etc.! The game is cheaply priced (imo for everything you get) and improves constantly. The one dev., Kerry, is also very responsive and adds a lot of features from player feedback. So if you play and there's something you'd like to see in the game, let him know and there's a good chance it will be implemented! 10/10, A+
I really really wanted to give this a good review. there are many things about this game that make it good as a football sim, but the few things that are missing are BIG and it hurts the game 1. NO CONTRACTS???? i don't know how you make a sports game, but then don't have contracts, when i found this out, i would have returned the game if i didn't leave it open when i went to the store and didn't close the game so now the 2 hours has passed lo. but for real, how do you not have contracts?? i feel like that's one of the easiest things you can do in a game. 2. NO FREE AGENCY???? there is "free agency" but it's not what you would want it to be. because there are no contracts, you either have the player on your team until he retires or you trade him or let him go. OR, and this is about the dumbest i've ever seen in a game. you can make it so a certain number of players on your team are randomly chosen to get sent to free agency so a player you just signed the year before can get sent right back and picked up by another team. these two things don't make any sense to me as how you don't add them to a sports management simulation game. honestly baffles me that this was okay with them. 3. while there are realistic names and teams you can download, they aren't updated at all. other sims i've played have teams you can download but keep overalls updated. this one doesn't at least not yet. outside of that it's a good simulation. but no without free agency and contracts the game is ♥♥♥♥. sorry.
PSF23 is the best version of this series, and that's saying something. The developer updates frequently not because of serious bugs, but to tweak the formidable AI or add player requests. Due to NFL licensing the game comes with fictional leagues. There are mods available with every NFL team, logo, helmet and field from 1940. Coach every play, watcb the AI go at it, GM your team througb several seasons, or build your own league. There is always room for more, but this is by far the besr football game I've ever played.
I posted a Non Recommended post that wasn't accurate or fair. The game is very good with a lot of mods available. I'm sorry for posting because of personal frustration. GET the GAME
I don't think I have played this properly, but I am going to be completely honest, I don't care. I have had so much fun repeatedly simulating this game through every single year of the super bowl era, and just watching the super bowls it produced, My review will be a weird ass super bowl I got, and you decide if it is useful. The saints had by some miracle made the super bowl, but they would have to make it through Steve McNair and the Tennessee Titans, well, it's the 4th Quarter, 20-13 the Titans lead, the saints have the ball with 40 seconds left, and shocking to me, Brooks hands the ball to rookie Deuce McAllister, who breaks it 78 yards for a touchdown, and the game goes on to overtime. Overtime starts, the saints get the ball, and give to McAllister to start the drive. McAllister beaks into the open again, only to fumnle, the ball is recovered by the titans at the one yard line. The next play, the snap is fumbled by McNair, going over his head though the back of the end zone, and the saints are world champions. Isn't that better than literally anything the 2001 season could have produced? Yes I have had boring seasons, but if you are a fan of football history, and don't mind only seeing a 2d representation of each play then this game has it going on.
I like a lot about this game, for instance, the play calling is excellent, you can go as simple as "short pass" "inside run" or you can get as detailed as you want with the formation, coverage, blitz, give individual players specific instructions. You can sub out individual players if they're tired. It even gives you tips on coverage and explains how they work. All available within the play calling screen. Time management works great. Realistic penalties and injuries. The gameplay really is fun (I played only coach mode). Unfortunately, the career mode, while clicking a lot of boxes for me isn't quite there yet. You can't sign or trade players when you start, only in the offseason. No financials, you get a certain number of free agents leaving a year and you replace them with a draft among all the other free agents. Not realistic enough for me so I refunded it. If they can implement a full financial system with trading, contracts etc in future versions, I'll buy it every year as it could finally be the worthy successor to front office football I've been waiting for. I may buy it again if it goes on sale bc the game play really is excellent, I just need my detailed franchise mode.
