About
Pro Philosopher 2: Governments & Grievances is the long-awaited follow up to the Flash hit Socrates Jones: Pro Philosopher, once again challenging the player in a series of interactive debates with brilliant thinkers from across history. Master logical moves to untangle argument puzzles, find internal contradictions, and cause your opponents to freak out!
Shifting the focus from moral philosophy to political philosophy, Pro Philosopher 2 presents a new story and new philosophers, with plenty of overblown comedy and drama.

Ariadne Jones has no time for distractions: not the party downstairs or the debates on TV, and definitely not the weird philosophical afterlife she gets pulled into every time she sleeps. But when her estranged mother arrives in that very realm, she's forced to tackle all the questions she's been avoiding. Questions like: what is the ideal government? Oh, and IS MY MOM DEAD?!
Pro Philosopher 2 frames its gameplay with a personal story, delivering a juicy mix of political machinations and family drama— brought to life by a cast of over a dozen colorful characters. Whether you are dealing with your party hardy college roommate or Anime Karl Marx, each cast member has their own motivations, expressive art and animations, and more than a few quirks.
You don't have to have played the first game to enjoy Pro Philosopher 2... but hey, the first game is free. As is the first chapter in our demo!

Pro Philosopher 2 challenges you to find weaknesses in a wide variety of increasingly complex arguments, but you will not be unprepared! Use specialized questioning tools, based on real reasoning techniques, to cut through ideas with precision:
Press for Clarification : What does that actually mean? Make vagaries less vague and complicated ideas more accessible.
Ask for Backing : That's a nice assertion you have there, Senator, what's your source? Reveal unstated assumptions behind seemingly simple statements.
Request Connections : How does this connect to everything else you are saying? Bridge logical gaps and banish distracting tangents!
Challenge! Turn your opponent's own ideas back on them by hitting them with their own core premises! Or, you know, just tell them that they smell bad. Who knows. Maybe it will work out for you?

Pro Philosopher 2: Governments & Grievances, developed and published by Intelligible Games, is a rare kind of narrative experience—a visual novel that brings political philosophy into an interactive, accessible format while maintaining a surprising amount of intellectual rigor. Building on the foundation laid by its predecessor, Socrates Jones: Pro Philosopher, this sequel elevates nearly every aspect of the original: the debates are more complex, the writing is sharper, and the presentation has evolved into something far more refined and engaging. Rather than simply rehashing the structure of the first game, Pro Philosopher 2 confidently expands its scope to focus on systems of government, civil rights, justice, and political power through a cast of historical and fictional philosophers. The game follows Ariadne Jones—Ari—who, after a frustrating argument about politics and her mother’s looming re-election campaign, finds herself swept into a surreal philosophical afterlife. There, she must argue her way through a sequence of ideological confrontations with thinkers across time and place. The story mixes the personal with the political in a surprisingly natural way; Ari isn’t just debating abstract theories, she’s reckoning with her own beliefs and responsibilities. This balance keeps the narrative emotionally grounded even as it dives into questions about state authority, revolution, and the role of the individual in society. Gameplay unfolds as structured, logic-based debates, echoing the format of courtroom games like Ace Attorney while remaining wholly original in tone and purpose. Opponents make claims, which Ari can interrogate, challenge, or use to build more nuanced arguments. Key tools include pressing for clarification, challenging assumptions, and identifying inconsistencies. As the player engages with these debates, they collect philosophical concepts on a sort of idea board, allowing them to revisit arguments and form counters with evidence or logic. It’s a slow, deliberate system that rewards careful reading and critical thinking. Making mistakes costs "credibility," and running out means losing the debate—but the game encourages thoughtful experimentation rather than punishing failure harshly. The writing is one of the game’s most consistent strengths. Philosophers are characterized with wit and color, bringing figures like Machiavelli, Frantz Fanon, and Mary Wollstonecraft to life with personality and thematic resonance. The game doesn't shy away from difficult ideas—imperialism, systemic inequality, political violence—but it presents them with enough narrative support to remain accessible even to players with no formal background in philosophy. What’s most impressive is how often the game trusts the player to sit with ambiguity. Not every question is answered, not every thinker is right or wrong. Instead, the game simulates the process of philosophical inquiry: not just winning arguments, but learning from them. Visually, Pro Philosopher 2 is a significant step up from its predecessor. The character art is expressive and stylized, the environments have a clean, readable layout, and the interface clearly reflects the logic of debate mechanics. Even small touches, like bolded words during dramatic moments or subtle UI cues, help deliver a sense of momentum in what could otherwise be a very static genre. The game also includes accessibility features, including adjustable text speed and thoughtful tutorialization, which make the experience smoother for newcomers. For all its strengths, the game is not without limitations. The pacing can occasionally drag, particularly in longer debates that involve extensive repetition or layered philosophical nuance. While the game works hard to make these ideas digestible, players looking for fast-paced gameplay or more mechanical variety may find it lacking in that department. Additionally, while the game does present multiple perspectives, some critics have noted that the narrative tone occasionally leans toward certain ideological frameworks more than others. Depending on the player's own views, this might either feel like necessary moral clarity or like an unbalanced debate. Nevertheless, Pro Philosopher 2 stands out as a thoughtful, unusual, and deeply rewarding experience. It brings critical theory and political philosophy into a space typically reserved for high drama or fantasy, and does so with grace, humor, and a deep respect for the complexity of the topics it explores. It’s educational without being pedantic, entertaining without sacrificing depth, and emotional without undermining its philosophical integrity. Whether you’re a student of philosophy, a fan of visual novels, or just someone who enjoys thinking through difficult questions, Pro Philosopher 2 is a standout title that proves games can be intellectually stimulating and narratively engaging at the same time. Rating: 9/10
Im over halfway through, and oh boy do i absolutely love it!!!!!! The debates are so engaging, jokes are funny, it is educational and makes you think. Has a good story and character drama. The designs are nice to look at and soundrack very catchy. Everything about this game i just LOVE. I am so ivested in how the story turns out
The strongest argument against "the veil" is that it cannot be achieved in reality. However, what if we started a political party where people who want to be politicians are elected through lottery. Where, after serving their term they would be put into something similar to the witness protection programm. This programm would roll a random dice based on economic surveys which would determine in which economic group they end up. If 0.2% of the population are homeless at the end of their term then there would be a 0.2% chance of each politician being made homeless, with a changed face, name, maybe even some disabilities. The argument that people would not like the politicians that are under "the veil" is weak as there are already ways to dissolve government through refferendums. If enough people vote to get rid of a government we should get a new batch of candidates. If your government doesent have this then its a problem with replacing an unsatisfactory government not a problem with "the veil" itself.
After the first game, I wasn't sure how a sequel could be made without rehashing the same arguments. Boy, was I wrong. This is even better.
Buen juego, mejor que el primero.
10/10 would get convinced to party all the time again
I love the socratic method of reasoning part 2
So good!! I personally like ethics more than politics, but this game is still overall better than the first one. The story is more interesting, the debates are better thought-out, the art is prettier and the dialogues are funnier (I laughed out loud several times!!). And I also really ike the final message. Great game, definitely recommend it!!
Behold! Imagine! A fictional world where ideas fight instead of people: the Intelligible Realm. I don't like visual novels but this is the deal. It's not just more informative, but easier to actually reason instead of brute-forcing your way through dialogue options.
