Reviews
Note: An awesome friend gifted me a copy of this game although a review copy was sent via curator connect. ^^
Finding love and discovering oneself ^^

Introduction
Comet Angel is a yuri, sci-fi adventure visual novel with point-and-click elements and puzzles developed and published by Cross Couloir. You take on the roles of teenagers Izzy and Nat. Izzy drops by Nat's house, excited to tell Nat about the comet that she saw, and she asks Nat to come with her to the lake. Nat agrees, and the two of them make their way to the lake. However, it's too dark, so they return the next day, and to their shock, they discover an alien creature. The alien creature, whom they name Faerie, is only able to communicate with Nat, so she serves as a go-between. Basically, Faerie needs metals to return home, and in return for their help, Faerie promises to show them their future. Excited over the idea, Nat and Izzy agree to help. Will they be able to find enough metal for Faerie to return home, and what might they discover about themselves along the way? With the gameplay, there are no choices. However, three endings are available. You get three scenes in which Izzy and Nat have to find scrap metal, and depending on the overall rank (with S rank being the best) in each area, you'll either get the true, good, or bad ending. There are plenty of point-and-click elements as well as various puzzles to solve. Lots of CGs are present as well as a varied soundtrack and full-on English voice acting. Steam achievements are available, too, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game".
Review
I'd first learned about Comet Angel during the Fall in Love Festival on Steam, which my group was a part of. (It was a very fun event, and I loved that I got to be a part of it, but I shouldn't digress. XD) Comet Angel caught my attention, and I wanted to get around to this game as soon as I could do so. Starting with the story, Izzy and Nat couldn't be any more different. While Izzy is a good student with her head in science and wanting to go to a good university, Nat is more into poetry and smoking. Still, these two have been friends for a long time, and it shows in their interactions. Izzy has her struggles with missing her dad, while Nat has problems interacting with her mom and dad. They're relatable teenage woes, and I like how Izzy and Nat talk to each other about them even though it may take them a while to open up. As for the romance between them, it's definitely a slow burn, but it's worth it when they end up confessing to one another. Especially, that's the case when you get the true ending although on my first playthrough, I got the good ending, which I was pretty satisfied with. As for Faerie, it's a pretty neutral creature, which can rub some people off the wrong way. However, I take it that Faerie doesn't understand the concept of human emotions and whatnot, which is understandable. As for the gameplay, I found the point-and-click elements to be fun. I should note, though, that if you want to get the true ending, it's very important to explore entire areas thoroughly, which can be done by holding and dragging the mouse in the scene. (As the game can be played with a controller, I assume that a similar feature exists.) With the puzzles, some of them can be quite challenging. It can get frustrating at times, especially since there aren't any instructions on how to interact with them. You have to use your intuition to figure them out. It can take a bit of time (especially since no guide is currently available), but it can be done. Still, it would help to have instructions and/or an option to skip puzzles if they become frustrating. With achievements, they are all obtainable on multiple playthroughs. You'll need to go through 3 playthroughs to get all the endings. There's only one achievement that's quite a weird one to obtain, which involves knowing a certain 90's pop culture reference. (I admit that I did a bit of digging around to figure this out. :o) With the art, it is quite gorgeous to gaze at. The sprites and backgrounds have this lovely hand-drawn style that I appreciate in games, and I like looking at each artist's unique style and whatnot. The colors feel soft and never overly bright. Of course, the CGs are especially beautiful to see. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3627288067 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3627288249 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3627288400 In regards to the music, the tracks have a good variety, and it was pleasant and soothing to listen as I played through the game and worked my way through puzzles and so forth. Also, I was surprised (in a good way) that there's full-on English voice acting, and the voices fit really well with their respective characters, especially with Izzy and Nat. I like how the voices are reflections of the characters and their personalities.
Conclusion
Would I recommend Comet Angel? If you're looking for a slow burn yuri romance that narrates the trials and tribulations of being a teenager, all while helping out an alien, you don't mind challenging puzzles at times, and/or you like looking for Steam achievements, then I think you should check out this game. The story was very beautiful, which is the most important aspect to me. I think there could be a bit of improvement with the puzzles, but hopefully, that'll be taken into account with future games. ^^
For more detailed, fully complete, high quality reviews like this, please follow The Introverted Gamer, prioritizing heart and soul always. ^^
This is a very good yuri visual novel. It has an intriguing premise, with a strange alien offering the two main characters offered a glimpse of the future in exchange for metal. It's also set in rural America, not a place where many LGBTQ stories take place, but a setting that is near and dear to me. The two main characters are written and voiced in such a way that they feel like very real teenage girls, and they both have some trauma in their past that is uncovered in the course of the story and it's all treated in a very grounded, very real way despite the sci-fi premise. It is very tightly written, with just about every scene moving the story forward in some way, and even the puzzle sections were enjoyable. I really liked every ending. Each of them is beautiful in their own way. The artstyle is perhaps a bit amateurish, but I found it added to the charm. Overall, it's an emotional and beautiful story with a whole lot of heart.
a 5ish hour run time of a short and sweet look into the lives of two teenagers thrown into a fantastical situation over their heads - they're not perfect, they don't make the best decisions, but it's clear to see they share a clear bond that lasts through time. the voice acting is wonderful and you can tell a lot of love went into every aspect of this game. Plus, cute girls falling in feelings with one another. C'mon. <3 Cheesy and sweet and my first role as Nat that I'll never forget! also. play every ending:) :(
It's very interesting! The Story line and artwork really pulls you in. I don't want to say anything more about the story lest I give away the plot! The grading system also needs work. I hit continue and it didn't give me an F? Personally, I enjoyed the Gaussian Blur background, it's very different from the other Ren'Py games I've played. The artwork is also very nice. Fan service could use some work. Overall, I'd play this again.
Played just a little bit, since the game is quite new I'm leaving a review already if it's going to help others. So far, it feels like an interesting story, quite funny at least in the beginning. I'll edit my review once I'm finished with it. Playable on Steam Deck, however, I had to set compatibility mode to Proton Hotfix in order to run it.
I didn't finish the story in full yet (don't look at my time, I accidentally left the game running), but I love what I got to see so far. I really enjoy the voice acting, and the puzzles I played were quite fun to solve. It's a true, heartfelt indie game like we don't see often. If that sounds like your jam, go for it!
this game....my god. its so good. the story, the writing, the voice acting, its just...yes. i love it <3
This game... it hit me in ways I don't think a story ever has before. Everything about it is so wonderfully made. Deep beautiful story with masterful writing, amazing characters (everyone needs a Helen in their life, and I will die on that hill), adorable chemistry between the main duo, such cute art, sweet CGs, amazing voicework. Made me laugh, and even rarer these days, brought me to tears. Outside of miniscule nitpicks, the only fault I can address is a single puzzle in a late-game area that feels like a guessing game without a findable hint or any conveyance that it is possible to complete there and then without doing something else first (the 4th toggle being inaccessible threw me off at first). Even then, it is only a small part of an otherwise incredible experience. In terms of performance, I didn't encounter a single bug or fault during my playthrough. If you like puzzle games with a story that feels real, and charming characters all the way, pick up this game today!
Such a heartfelt Visual Novel with some sections of Point&Click game play. Nat and Izzy are wonderfully confused and uncertain characters, working out the unfairness of their lives in the face of an unfeeling "god." Recommended for anyone who is uncertain about their future and/or possibly being manipulated by a higher dimensional being.
Comet Angel is quite the achievement in development in this genre; it combines fantastic voice acting and overall quality with a heartfelt story, punctuated by some interesting puzzles. Don't want to give away the story too much, but love the character development and interplay between the leads. There's something about the art style that brings their emotions to life while keeping a bit of that impressionistic or comic quality to them. Highly recommend, especially for fans of the genre. As a side note, it was a nice surprise (maybe I'm behind the times with this) that it works perfectly on Mac as well as PC, since not all Steam games do.
