Pro Philosopher 2: Governments & Grievances

Sophie's World meets Ace Attorney It's reductive, short, and the premise that sets up the series of socratic dialogues is very, very silly. And yet, it's a neat little educational game that lets you play around with interesting ideas in your head for a few hours, and it's made by people who know what they are talking about, even if you are being presented with the Cliff Note's versions of the thinker's ideas and their common downsides. I feared the worse when I saw a caricature of what people think Machiavelli was, but the game does acknowledge and teach the player The Prince is an anomaly, probably satire, and unfairly defined his legacy. The choice of Rawls and Nozick as opposites was neat though that debate veers into contractualism without an actual contractualist showing up. It does ok by Marxism... You could do a loooot worse for a short edutainment AA-like. I approve

Though the inspiration is obvious, this game is far from being derivative. Practicing practical skills in engaging with real arguments and being introduced to a variety of ideas in this way is deeply compelling to me. Sure, there's educational potential and the inclusion of challenges that don't progress the argument but are still acknowledged to let the player know that is a reasonable thing to point out go a long way for this. But, what I'm actually getting at is the inclusion of these elements makes the experience playing this game surpass the original for me, regardless of questions of pedagogy.

A superb sequel which carries on the spirit of the first, but pushes harder and more complex puzzles to play out and harder hitting philosophies to try and unravel! Highly recommend picking up this title, both as a wonderful sequel and just an incredibly fun visual novel / Ace Attorney-esq title!

better than the first because it was longer and therefore each argument got more detail put into it. its cool that they make you argue from inside peoples worldview and not from outside their worldview. you have to disagree with people using their own logic. really its just more of a good thing, done better.

Ace Attorney inspired game featuring political philosophers. AA gameplay makes it fun, and it's interesting to learn about philosophy and politics in a fun way. I also appreciated that the game was pretty neutral instead of saying that any political system is clearly the right one. It's pretty rare for democracy as a system to be questioned. If you enjoyed the first (free!) game, it's more of that but with more focus on politics instead of morality. If you're wondering whether to get this, I'd recommend checking the previous game out and if you liked that one, this one is worth it as well.

This is a great introduction to how governments have been structured and why. We'd be a lot better off if the average person understood, at least, this much. It is your civic duty to play this game!

A lovely, educational, and generous way to spend a few hours if you, like me, did not do the reading in your poli sci classes. College is wasted on the young, but this game is much more accessible! Please play it!
