All Americans must come together to BLOW UP bethesda
Awesome, awesome immersive sim, that for some reason went under the radar. One of the games that everyone should play at least once. Underrated gem. I will forever mourn Arcane's downfall. 15/10.
My goodness, this game. WOW. It is right up there with the original Systemshock 2 in creating a tight game world and letting you loose on it to find all its secrets. Combined with a delightful power curve and intriguing story, this was just an absolute blast. And whoever designed the intro / tutorial sequence, you actually had my jaw drop for a moment. Especially if some of the pieces fall into place later and make you go "Ooooooh!". Masterclass.
One of the best immersive sims you're likely to see. It's Deus Ex but with aliens, and also as many loading screens as your sanity can handle.
I love immersive sims, and I'm sure Prey is a good game. However, after a strong start, my enthusiasm quickly faded. There's a lot of looting for crafting materials, a mechanic I despise. The combat against the Typhon, after the first few encounters, already shows its limitations. There's barely any stealth. The environment feels sterile and devoid of life. The best immsim, Deus Ex, has tons of moments where you interact with civilians, whole levels built around nothing but exploration and social encounters, and a huge variety of environments. There's none of that here. You have no one to interact with, the story is slowly drip-fed to you through radio and documents, and you're just running around a single hostile place. I can't help feeling that Bioshock did it better, many years ago.
I would push the fat man
One of the best (if not the best) immersive games I've ever played. I'm so furious that Arkane is/going to be shut down. Who else can even make such games?? So much depth, insane level design, several ways to approach combat, exploration, story, missions. Omg!
A masterpiece in world-building and a thoroughly enjoyable game the whole way through. Extremely cheap on sale and definitely worth buying on sale. If the intro doesn't grip you nothing will.
