This game is very cute and is a fantastic idea, but I played the demo and feel honestly, nothing of big change has been added to the actual gameplay. There really isn't too much to the gameplay but I thought perhaps they would add more in the proper release. Creating the plushies is cute, but other than creating them, you don't do anything in the game. It becomes repetitive. I think it would work great for young children, as there's really no hard gameplay or any other mechanic. I really enjoyed the demo of this game, but I thought perhaps the actual release would include more to it. I was sadly disappointed. I know the developers probably wanted to create a simple game like this, but I was hoping for something more after how cute it was as a demo. If you wanna play a game for 1-2 hours, this is good. But there's really not much to it. Creating the plushie is fun, but there's many QOL things that really would benefit. Such as the ability to edit a plushie, copy a plushie so you can create a new one based off of an old one, change the title of a collection, change the colours of a collection, view sales figures, leaving the desk. I get that it's not supposed to be that deep of a game, and it just is what it is, but it's very repetitive with nothing to do. I think ages 5-12 would enjoy this. Also, not complaining about this but eye colour is bugged. Everything is unlocked from the start even if it says it isn't. Just have all hair/eye colours unlocked from the start. Things I would like to see: - UI updates - Settings functions that actually work - More gameplay mechanics - Plushies can sit on the desk - More storyline - Editing collection names/colours - Editing plushies - Copying plushies - Better online store management. - Designing an online store - Renaming the store - More analytics from sales - Designing promotional images for banners - Just more depth
This is a very fun dress-up game with some minor business-management elements. After 5 hours I'm only about halfway through collecting all the items, so I'd say there's a decent chunk of gameplay for a very good price! The main gameplay loop consists of making plushes to sell and opening packs of cosmetics sets to dress new plushes to sell in, as well as managing your back-catalogue. Plushes sell best if they use cosmetics you haven't used on other plushes before, so there's a constant push to unlock new cosmetics. When you design a plush, all the colour variants you haven't used before are marked with a star, which makes that effortless to keep track of. The art style is adorable and there's lovely background music (that you can also turn on and off by clicking the in-game radio, which is cute). The cosmetics you get from the packs are random, but you can preview the colour and body part of the items and choose from a small selection each time, so you have some control over it. It takes a bit of grinding to complete the sets, but the game never gives you duplicates, so it is doable. The main hurdle is that each new pack you buy for the same set is increasingly expensive, to the point where the mid-game becomes a major grind if you're a completionist, with new packs requiring you to sell dozens and dozens of plushes to afford them. Luckily it's very easy to skip forward in time to grind through some sales. There is a minor element of strategy in that plushes become less popular over time the longer they are on sale, but you can discontinue them for a while to raise their demand again and then restock and put them on sale again, so it's important to keep an eye on your back-catalogue. I did find myself getting a bit sick of making new plushes after a couple of hours. The clothing items are adorable and very varied, but the selection in faces and hairstyles feels lacking, so I found myself using the same couple I liked over and over again. I also wish there were more options for making masculine plushes, as most of the hairstyles especially are very feminine. I hope more of these get added in the future! I also found myself making lots of basically identical plushes in different colour schemes to diversify my shop as much as possible and make the most profit, which was a bit repetitive. Then again, this game was maybe not designed for playing 5 hours in one day :P Restocking previous designs you've made costs money, but making new plushes is free and you immediately get 100 of them in stock, so there's never really any worry that you'll truly run out of money. The game is very cosy in that sense, but I also found myself just skipping through days and days after a while to grind through the midgame packs without feeling any kind of penalty for "losing time". There is some implied sense of urgency in the plot of you having a rival, but in practice I haven't yet encountered any negative consequences to skipping time. That can be a positive and a negative, depending on what you like from a game :) I encountered one bug in the game during my time playing so far, which the developer kindly responded to when I reported it in the Discord server, so I have faith it'll be patched out soon! I'm not mad at it, given that this game only just released. Overall, if you're looking for a cosy doll dress-up game with some business management elements, this should be right up your alley!
This is a really enjoyable game, as long as you know what you're getting into. This is not a complex game with deep mechanics that can offer you endless hours of gameplay. In fact, I've found that I enjoy it best in short play sessions, like 30-60 minutes at a time. But it's very mellow and relaxing, and it's a good game to play if you're watching TV or otherwise multitasking.
THINGS I LIKED
♦ The concept is really unique. I can't really think of any other games that let you dress up and sell dolls. I really like the idea of creating my own toys to sell. ♦ I love the art style this developer uses. The plushies and items are very cute and well designed. ♦ The management aspects of running your online store are very simple and low stakes. You're responsible for ordering more stock of your plushies to make sure you have enough to sell. How quickly they sell will depend on the popularity of the plushie, which is determined by the variety of items you use and you can boost these numbers later if you pay extra. Keeping up on stock is pretty easy, although I do wish there was a way to view the inventory and order status for all plushies at once, instead of having to click each one individually. ♦ There's a small story on the side, and it's silly and wholesome. There's a rival plushie seller out there somewhere trying to sabotage your business, and they're not very good at it. The story is a very small aspect, which is fine since most of the focus is on your creativity anyway. ♦ Getting to design plushie collections is a nice touch. You can create collections based on whatever you want; you can base them around the clothing themes in game, but you certain don't have to. It's nice to be able to group plushies together, or use my themes to plan out what plushies I'll make next. You can also design the box that each plushie in that theme will be sold in.
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE
♦ The blind box system can sometimes be frustrating. There are several themes for clothing and accessories, and to get more items for these themes, you use a blind box system. The game presents you with several mystery boxes, where you have a clue about the category and nothing else. When you open a box, you get a chance of finding a new item, but more often than not, you're just finding additional colors of items you've already discovered. This is fun to an extent, but I mostly finding myself delaying creating new plushies because I want to wait for a coordinating color or piece to be discovered. Which would be fine, if creating plushies wasn't the entire point of the game. I would prefer a system that let you have all colors for an item at once. I realize this would be less items overall for the blind boxes, but I'd prefer that over having to wait on more colors for an item I already discovered. ♦ The game seems to encourage mixing and matching, but a lot of items don't mix well together. Now this can for sure be attributed to personal preference. But for me personally, I found that a lot of items don't look good with items from other themes, particularly in tops and pants. And this is particularly problematic because as you're also dealing with a blind box system, it can take awhile before you find the matching sets and colors you need, if you're trying to coordinate a certain look. Meanwhile the game is giving me lower popularity scores for reusing items, but there are several items I can't/won't touch yet because I don't have coordinating colors or matching parts I need.
Cosy Bee Games makes some of the most relaxing games and this one is no different ^^
tl;dr
Plush Parade is an adorably cozy, relaxed game with vibes just like getting a warm hug on a chilly day. There isn't much difficulty to it, but that's to its benefit in this case I think, as you can just sit and create and relax without stressing about finances or deadlines. May 29th edit: A previous version of this review mentioned a problem with the settings menu. The dev patched that in a day or less, and so I've removed that and added positive praise of the dev into Pros.
The Longer Version:
Much like Sticky Business and other relaxing shop-owner games that are more focused on cozy, wholesome relaxation than serious financial management, Plush Parade is a wonderful bit of stress relief. It really is hard to put my finger on how to describe this game other than 'like getting a hug from a close friend you haven't seen in a while,' which captures the essence but is utterly useless in terms of describing the content. So, for now, I'll just go over bits that I like, much like compiling a plushie in the game itself.
Pros:
The graphics style is ADORABLE. Everything in this game has such cute and comforting vibes to it, and I can't help but smile and relax whenever I start playing it. (I know I have ~1.5 hours in the full game as of review time, but I had also maxed out the demo in the last Next Fest which was probably 10-12+ hours of play, not sure quite how long.)
Cutesy music that feels super fitting and relaxing.
Lots of little touches of love put in; you can drink the tea, little marbles spawn that you can collect, the light turns on and off, you can open/close the windows, etc. There's just a bunch of little things to discover that go that little bit above in showing the care put into this game.
Very responsive dev -- I had some trouble with the settings menu and the dev was quicker in replying to me than just about any other indie game I've played. I've been glancing in throughout the day too, and they seem to always be on top of looking into problems and working on bug fixes. EDIT: It was fixed in less than 24h! Absolutely responsive and deserves a ton of credit. ♥
Plushie retirement -- in the demo, the big problem I had was the plushie popularity would degrade over time until my designs were worthless. In the full game, you can pause a plushie and it will rise in popularity until you re-release it, so you never have to delete an old design. Balancing which plushies are rotating in and out of my sales rotation ensures I can always have a bunch of my favourites for sale while a bunch more are rebuilding their popularity. It's a great way to add a tiny bit of depth that still feels casual and relaxed.
Collecting plushie parts is just straight up fun. There's an increase in cost every time, but it still feels like parts are pretty affordable. I always find myself excited when I click to spawn the boxes and see what I want to get. Also, as an extra bonus, sometimes you get especially lucky and you get to open all 8 boxes and get everything in that round instead of 3, which feels extra special.
There's a mermaid tail, and shark stuff. (Yes, I wear my biases on my sleeve.) Mixed:
There doesn't seem to be a failure state. In my eyes, this is a pro for this kind of game, as they're meant to unwind and relax with, but depending on how you feel, that may not be for you. (You CAN run out of money I think, but there are wishing stars you can always get more from.)
There are a TON of parts to collect. One the one hand, that's fantastic because it means I won't be running out of content any time soon, but I do question just how grindy it might get at the end of a collection. Fortunately, I think the 4x speed option will be sufficient to cover it, but if you're really wanting to complete *everything*, keep the increasing costs in mind. Cons:
This is the smallest complaint ever, but the names of both designs and collections could use a bit more character limit. I find myself constantly just 2-4 characters short of what I'd like to name a design. It doesn't make much difference in the end, but it's something the dev could possibly improve on someday.
There's not a TON of control over getting specific parts you may want. You can choose to pick up the 'white colour pants box' if you get it in a round of discovery, but you can't, for example, tell the game to give you a Nature pants box, or a white colour Nature box. I think one thing that might be nice in this regard is that there are marbles you can collect throughout the game, and it would be nice if each one you had stored let you "spend" them to add that colour to an existing design you have. (So if you collect a light green marble, you could pick some light green shoes that you previously only had in purple.)

Conclusion:
Plush Parade is a comforting, cutesy game to chill out and relax in. Everything about it is absolutely adorable, and I find any stress I'm feeling melting away while playing it. I love seeing what new plush creations I can make whenever I get a bunch of new parts, and I just.. I don't know how to put it other than that this game makes me feel an utter, pure joy when playing it. If you enjoy cozy and relaxing games and don't really mind not having a ton of challenge to a game (or even better, if that's a plus for you), then at $10, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Plush Parade.
love the game! I wish there was a way to adjust a plush, or to copy one already made to remake it, I also wish it was more clear how to unlock colors. loving making my friends, i hope theres more collections to come!
I've spent almost eight hours of my Saturday making little plushies. I'll probably spend Sunday doing this, too. This is my life now. Plush Parade is a cute, easygoing game where you create stuffed toys (in the shape of cute humanoid figures) and sell them on your webstore. There is a very minor subplot which plays out during the game via paper airplane missives from your rival, but the primary gameplay loop is to create a plush, market it to your customers, and use the money gained to unlock new construction pieces. Simple, sweet, and hard to stop playing. Management beyond that is fairly simple: mind your stock, keep promotions running, or retire some plushies until demand comes back up and rerelease them when their popularity peaks to earn a ton of cash! You unlock new pieces to craft with through in-game blind boxes, but you only need to unlock an item once to use it as much as you like. There is a mechanic to incentivize creativity, however: the more new pieces you use in crafting a plush, the more trendy and desirable it becomes! Every single color of an item is considered a unique iteration, so there's plenty of room to play around and create things that look good and score high. It's a fun little challenge! You can control the speed of gameplay (1x, 2x, or 4x) and even sleep for a set period of time to advance gameplay if you're waiting for something to happen. Plush restocks take 12 in-game hours to arrive, and campaigns also run for 12 hours, so sleeping through can be a great way to speed things along. Game works well on 1x as something you leave in the background while doing other things and come back to in-between tasks, assuming you can actually pull yourself away long enough to do anything else. The highlight of this game, in my mind, is the adorable art. Game's cute as ♥♥♥♥; It's undeniable that Plush Parade oozes charm. The writing is also endearing and pleasant: it's a game that makes you smile. Maybe a little saccharine at times, but I'm not going to complain about a ray of sunshine in a weary world. This game's kept me smiling all day -- that's well worth the cost to me (and honestly, $9.99 feels like a solid price for this game for the amount of content and gameplay I'm getting out of it.) Game isn't perfect -- I've given feedback on that front; the ability to restock/re-promote all Plushies in a Collection at once would be incredibly welcome. Framerate and gameplay are solid and stable, but there have been a few tiny bugs that mostly consist of "some text got stuck on the screen for a few seconds" here and there -- nothing major or game-breaking; it's been rock-solid overall, and I know those little bugs will be ironed out soon, because Cozy Bee Games has a stellar track record for delivering something solid and polishing it up until it shines. I have no doubt nay issues will be smoothed away in no time. If you're looking for something really in-depth and granular on the shop-maintenance side (ala Recettear), this will be too simple for you. If you're allergic to cuteness, this game will give you anaphylaxis. If you don't like making your own fun by designing things in video games, this might not be the game for you. But if you think it's your jam, it probably is. If you have a shocking number of hours in Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Life, or any other game where User Created Content is king, this is your happy place. TL;DR Cozy Bee Games I have DLC ideas let me give you more money-
With the Popmart collectibles craze, this feels like the perfect game for the moment. If you love character customization, gacha (only with in-game currency), and chill cozy vibes, definitely give this a try. I played the demo fully but I'm taking my time getting through the full game, enjoying making a bunch of cute plush collections and trying to unlock everything. Also for those not familiar with Cozy Bee Games - this dev genuinely cares about their games and puts time and effort into updates and fixes, so if you come across any please know that it won't be ignored! 10/10 cozy vibes. ♥
